TV Map For Bucs-Lions

September 14th, 2024

Better hope you live in Florida or Michigan if you want to watch the Bucs free on Sunday.

Joe remembers when the best games or the best matchups got the best announcers. No more! Unless you are a fan of a nationally popular team, you will get the dregs of the broadcast crews. Welcome to the telecast of the Bucs-Lions game.

The Bucs-Lions game is the lone NFC game that is not just a rematch of a division-round playoff game from last year, but the lone NFC game featuring two of the previous season’s division winners.

So that means the Bucs are getting the No. 1 FOX announcing crew right? Fuh-getta-bout-it!

The No. 1 FOX crew goes to Dallas to broadcast the slimy Saints-Cowboys game. Over in Wisconsin, FOX’s No. 2 team goes to broadcast the Colts-Packers.

Obviously, the Cowboys and the Packers have large, national fanbases. The only other team in that sphere of popularity nationwide is probably the Steelers.

So the Bucs get FOX’s No. 3 team. Kevin Kugler, Daryl “Moose” Johnston and Laura Okmin will handle the call.

Back to the Bucs’ broadcast. Only residents of Florida and Michigan will get the game on their local FOX affiliate. Everyone else better have Sunday Ticket, the greatest invention since the remote. Or it’s off to the sports bar for you.

Of course, Joe always encourages fans to hit up their neighborhood Hooters for cold beer, hot wings and hotter women. Oh yeah, and football on the flatscreens, too.

Joe hopes Bucs fans get to enjoy a massive upset tomorrow!

When is the last time someone suggested you go watch Chucky? Go Watch him NOW!!!

For the Record, he is SCARY GOOD breaking down this weeks game!!!

[Yes, Joe has Chucky’s breakdown of Sunday’ game. — Joe]

So Glad one of the most DISERVING Ring Of Honor Members is showing all of us Tampa Fans how a MAN deals with being CANCELED in this day an age.

Who knew??? Tampa is so Blessed with LEADERS like CHUCKY. We need more MEN leading the way, like him, showing us how to overcome a culture unfamiliar to AMERICANS!!!

  2. WiseCrack Says:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Detroit Lions – Jon Gruden’s PICK!

  3. Booger Says:

A lot more people would much rather see the Cowboys-Saints Game… Also, I would argue it prob being a much better game. It’s really, as simple as that. The Boys drive RATINGS. The Bucs & Lions… Not so much.

  4. Booger Says:

The only thing that really annoyed me was that no one had the balls to even make a pick on this game. NO ONE. It was never even an option on ANY of the main shows on FS1 OR ESPN… NONE of them. One of them under their breath, just randomly predicted a ‘Lions’ BLOWOUT, but I can’t remember if it were Colin or Carton!? Regardless, it was NEVER even a part of their gameday picks, and was very rarely even mentioned that they were playing each other, to begin with.

  5. GoneGator Says:

That’s why I’m paying an arm and a leg for “Sunday Ticket”. Sucks but it’s worth it to get all the games recorded every week.

    @Wisecreack
Calm down bro…. It’s going to be okay.
    P. S. They’re eating the dogs and cats 😒🤣

  6. Rod Munch Says:

I think the Cowboys-Saints game is going to be quite dull as the Cowboys have a very good defense and I think the Saints do as well.

For the Bucs, I already wrote off the defense this game due to all the injuries and figure the Lions will score a ton of points – however it really is concerning that Luke is out, the tackle depth on the Bucs is trash and if the Lions put Hutchinson over some tackle that was struggling in the preseason vs 3rd teamers, that’s going to be a disaster. Hopefully there’s a plan. Maybe put in Hainsey as a 6th lineman on that side. Not kidding, do something, don’t just put a guy in there that you know is going to get whipped at least a dozen times and blow-up plays.

But, if the Bucs can figure out the tackle issue – then they too should score a lot of points, and while the final score may not be close, it should be an entertaining game. Generally that gets you on TV, and considering the buzz about the game, this is one time I’m a bit surprised at the map. No one wants to watch the boring Saints do anything.

  7. Woodenman Says:

Man get out here with that cowboys crap they are not America’s team anymore when is the last time they won anything . I don’t agree that majority of football fans would want to watch the cowboys over half the teams in the league.

  8. Lakeland Says:

The Lions never won anything in their pathetic history. And folks are talking about them like they’re the Kansas City Chiefs.

  9. Bojim Says:

    Yay. I’m in.

  10. Mike S Says:

    OR…

    Get NFL Sunday Ticket

  11. Rod Munch Says:

I just hope the Bucs come out tomorrow and play an aggressive game on both sides of the ball. I really don’t think with all the injuries the Bucs have much of a chance, but I want them to go down swinging if they’re going down. This is not the week for Bowles to come out in a passive soft zone garbage and let the Lions control the clock and get 15 play drives. Lets see those exotic blitzes that Bowles, under Arians, was once known for. Lets see the Bucs come out and be ultra aggressive. Try to force the Lions into mistakes and hopefully turnovers.

I just really hope this isn’t one of those games where Bowles is going to outsmart everyone and thinks the Bucs can play a ball control offense game and we’ll just run it up the gut and try to keep the Bucs defense off the field by controlling the ball. That won’t work, and the Bucs will lose by 30 if that’s the plan. Be aggressive on offense and defense, balls to the wall, big roundhouse punches – at least then you can say you gave it everything and this time just didn’t have the manpower – and next time it will be different. But a passive, meek beatdown will be completely demoralizing.

Hopefully Arians gives Bowles a pep talk this week, and reminds him that he was once known as a defensive mastermind known for being the most aggressive DC in football.

  12. Badbucs Says:

Bravo Rod Munch. Perfect analysis. Play to win. Puncher’s chance. Go down like men. Show the guys you believe in them. No wimpy soft zone sure to lose.
    Go Bucs!!!!

  13. ChiBuc Says:

MF GB!! It really is kind of sad that a conference playoff team, Detroit, and a rematch of one of the better playoff games last year, cannot garner more of the great lake regional market.

  14. unbelievable Says:

Ever since the Chargers left San Diego, we get extra screwed here. Basically forced to watch both the Rams AND Charger games locally every week, hardly ever get a different game anymore.

Thankfully the internet exists. And bars. lol

  15. de bucs fan Says:

How much of the instant replay angles depends on the TV crew? It feel like old Bucs got one SD camera while NCFe teams and the Darling Teams have 99 UHDTV 97k cameras. Seems a way for outside influence on a gambling sport. More cameras more excuses to overturn a call etc

  16. Mike Johnson Says:

i really do hate the Cowboys..can’t help it. Win, ;ose or draw, they get all the publicity. You turn on every national TV sports talk show and they are premiered. Sometime they even get 15 to 20 min of an hour show. It makes my day when they lose.

  17. Joe Says:

Man get out here with that cowboys crap they are not America’s team anymore when is the last time they won anything . I don’t agree that majority of football fans would want to watch the cowboys over half the teams in the league.

The networks and the NFL use data from Neilsen Research which is the industry standard in TV. If the Cowboys didn’t pull eyeballs, you wouldn’t see the networks or the NFL putting them on national broadcast windows.

  18. RGA Says:

One reason why I root against most anyone playing the Cowboys.

  19. Joe Says:

How much of the instant replay angles depends on the TV crew?

    The production crew? A lot.

If you look at, for example, FOX’s lineup above, each crew (broadcasters/producers, etc) are like teams. They have a first team (Burkhardt, Brady), a second team (Joe Davis and Greg Olsen), a third team (Kugler/Moose Johnston), etc.

Each crew or “team” is like a team. They all (including producers) all stay together and work together the entire season.

The higher number of the crew/team, the more money is spent which means, in part, more cameras there are, thus the more angles.

Surprised the NFL doesn’t mandate X-amount of replay cameras since with instant replay, a game could hinge on having the correct angle.

  20. DoooshLaRue Says:

“Back to the Bucs’ broadcast. Only residents of Florida and Michigan will get the game on their local FOX affiliate.”
    __________

What about Georgia, Ohio and Indiana Joe?

  21. Larrd Says:

They should be showing this game in Cleveland. Lots of fans up there following Baker now, and so close to Detroit. That game would get all the eyes of Deshaun haters, which is most everybody.

A groundswell of support for Jameis up there, I am told by friends and relatives.

  22. orlbucfan Says:

You can get this game live on Bucs Radio. Every NFL team has it. I’ve been a hardcore Radio freak for decades, and I get this one on the boob tube tomorrow, too. Rather listen to radio.

  23. Booger Says:

That’s the thing, Rod… There was no buzz. Literally, ZERO. Nationally, for the entire WEEK. None. Zilch. Nada.

  24. Booger Says:

Woodenman, you obviously, don’t know what the hell you are talking about. NOT even the first clue. Orrrr, you’re just trying to play the role of Pinocchio.

  25. SB Says:

Lol…….Look at the Yellow Bird finger in the Northwest. 🙂

  26. SB Says:

Ok then. Look at the yellow middle finger in the middle of the Northwest.

  27. heyjude Says:

I learned so much from reading this thread today. From the Nielsen ratings to replays. Interesting! Thank you!

  28. Mike Johnson Says:

Agree 1000% with you Joe about them Cowgirls.

  29. Dave Says:

Residing in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan, anytime the Packers and Lions play at the same time and on the same channel Fox U. P. the Packers get the tv coverage. Only a small portion of the far Eastern area of the U. P. can get the Lions games. 3/4 of the entire U. P. of Michigan carry the Packers games (Fox UP in Marquette) This is an outrage and certainly unfair to Lions fans. It has been this way for years. This needs to change, but I don’t see it happening. What a shame and a disgrace that Fox U. P. has created here in Michigan. 👎👎👎👎👎
