Tom Brady Has A Message For Baker Mayfield

September 11th, 2024

Shout out to Baker Mayfield.

Hey, the fourth quarterback to lead the Bucs to an NFC title game (and a Super Bowl win a couple of weeks later) finally broke down and talked about his former team.

That would be new NFL media darling Tom Brady of FOX Sports. You may have heard Brady called his first NFL game as an analyst for FOX on Sunday..

Well, it seems the Murdoch Clan, which owns NewsCorp that owns FOX, needed something else for Brady to do in order for him to earn his $375 million salary. So they have Brady picking three NFL stars of the week, sort of like after an NHL game, only this is for the whole league.

Of Brady’s three stars is his Bucs successor. And Brady had a message for Baker Mayfield.

“Baker, I wish I would have taken you in fantasy but a great start finding Mike and finding Chris,” Brady said. “Having that type of performance at home, that’s just what the team needs. Great job.”

And it was a great job. As Brady very briefly discussed Mayfield’s accomplishments in the Week 1 throttling of the Commandos, Brady referenced “my guy Mike Evans.”

Since Brady retired in the winter of 2023, he’s said very, very, very little about the Bucs. Almost like he didn’t want to acknowledge he ever played for Tampa Bay.

Joe guesses he’s starting to break out of his shell.

I think heā€™s talking about the Bucs now more out of obligation because he works for Fox (since they broadcast mostly NFC games)

  2. heyjude Says:

Tom knows a gem in Baker when he sees one, while also highlighting how great Mike and Chris are. Good for him! He didn’t have to choose Baker his first week in, but he did. Says so much.

  3. ā€˜79 Defense Says:

Has he said much about the Patriots since he left? I donā€™t really care. Heā€™s said enough very positive things about Tampa and his time with the Bucs in various media reports and podcasts. I thank him for what he did for the Bucs and honestly donā€™t mind if, for whatever reason, heā€™s not inclined to mention the team publicly.

  4. MF Bucs Says:

He won us a freakin Super Bowl, who cares if he doesn’t gush about Tampa 24/7. I’d rather us stay under the radar. LFG!

  5. Bakerfan Says:

Itā€™s hard to be replaced, even when you do it in your own terms

  6. Jah son Says:

I think you are right on the mark Travis K.
It would seem “sus” if he didn’t speak to ALL NFC teams.

Number 12 better remember that we provided the supporting cast for him to win ring #7!

  7. Jah son Says:

don’t need him to gush @MF Bucs.
It just seems as if he has AVOIDED talking about Bucs.

  8. ChiBuc Says:

Tom’s like a trophy wife…if his hands aren’t on the ball, I don’t care what he has to say

  9. Hodad Says:

His talking career, that’s what he has now, just started last weekend. He’ll be talking plenty about the Bucs, and all things NFL for the next 20 weeks.

  10. LouisFriend Says:

I don’t blame him, and it doesn’t matter much if he talks about the Bucs. Over his entire career the Bucs were only 14% of his playing time.

And don’t forget his last year with the Bucs was a personal year from hell for him. It’s a time in his life he’s probably trying to forget. I would too if I were him.

  11. BobbyuBucsFan Says:

He is pissy/pouty with the bucs because we didnt let him go to Miami. I bet he is the one that got Bruce pushed out. “Fine Mr Glazer, I will play out my contract with the bucs but Bruce has to go”!

  12. Tucker Says:

Sounding like a jaded ex who cares just win baby go bucs

  13. BAā€™s Red Pen Says:

His wife at the time started sleeping with her trainer when he was hereā€¦..errrr I mean his personal life went awry while he lived in Tampa.

LMAO some of you are like whiny ex-gfs

ā€œOMG Tom, why wonā€™t you talk more about me????ā€

He was very complimentary of Baker and clearly still has love for guys like Evans, Godwin, Wirfs, Lavonte, etc. He had D Smith, Jensen and LVD at his roastā€¦ what else do you guys need?

Maybe he was butthurt about not being able to worm his way to Miami. Who knows? He had 2 great years and a 3rd season that was disappointing. The reality is he brought some respect back to this organization and helped us win a Suoer Bowl. Is that not enough?

  17. El HEFE Rick Says:

Honestly if he didnā€™t choose us he would have looked like a hater because we did that good the entire nfl kinda looked like the media said they are a 7.5 win team but they look more explosive than 7.5

  18. Larrd Says:

He loves us! He really loves us!

  19. Auugust 1976 Buc Says:

1 thing matters to me about Brady. It is that 2nd Lombardi at 1 Buccaneer Palace.

He can say whatever, but my perspective is still that awesome Boat parade with the Lombardi lifted hi, and also the great Catch by Brate, from Bradys boat to boat pass of the Lombardi.

    GO BUCS!!!!!!!

  22. Lightningvinny Says:

Baker was really good on Sunday,,, I believe Tom was as well,,, he really dove into the role and gave some really good analysis ,,, Some guy are a little timid and let the other guy do most of the talking ,,, That wasnā€™t Tom,, he earned his first paycheck w the crappy game he was calling

  23. GoneGator Says:

Whoopty whoop… Who cares what TB thinks?

  24. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Disney owns FOX. They bought all but Fox News…I wanba say year before last?

They did it to get back the rights to X-Men and Fantastic Four.

They refused to buy Fox News…which was smart because Fox News got hit soon after with fines over false news reports.

“Baker was really good on Sunday,,, I believe Tom was as well”

I’m actually surprised he didn’t go into coaching…guess the money was too much to refuse.

  26. Sean G Says:

@Buccaaneer Bonzai according to https://screenrant.com/disney-fox-deal-own-assets/ The acquisition does not include ownership of the FOX channel itself, because that would be illegal under Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules because Disney already owns ABC.

  27. SenileSenior Says:

I love and respect Tom Brady for what he did for us ā€¦ put us over the top. It does no bother me if he has been busy making his new life the last couple of years. What he said about Baker is great and appropo.

  28. JK Says:

Throbbing Rod Muncher says: nothing, he was working on an enormous rod……….. no time to embarrass himself as always

  29. Temple Terrace Bucs Fan Says:

Tom Brady gave the Bucs the greatest two years in franchise history and owes them or the fans nothing else.

Iā€™ve Never heard him say anything bad about the team or city and that stadiam will be as packed as ever when the put him in the ring of honor.

    Thanks for everything Tom !

    Tom has a vanilla personality.
