Significant Shoulder Injury For SirVocea Dennis

September 30th, 2024

No specifics given by Todd Bowles today, but the Bucs’ head coach acknowledged that inside linebacker SirVocea Dennis suffered a multi-week shoulder injury yesterday.

“I think he hurt it pretty bad,” Bowles said of Dennis.

Sad news, considering Dennis is a rising playmaker who might be better than fellow inside linebacker K.J. Britt.

Joe wonders if the Bucs will look outside the organization for more depth there. …Joe’s heard a certain well-rested guy in Philadelphia might be available cheap. (No, Joe didn’t really type that.)

It takes young players time to adjust to the NFL,

The speed of the game, the physical toll of17 regular season games
How to protect their bodies from injuries
Their diets, their lifestyle, resting their bodies
They need to make adjustments if they want to stay healthy

You can’t rely on these young guys to stay healthy

  2. A Bucs Fan Says:

Do we know if the Bucs have anything in Antonio Grier Jr?? He flashed playmaking ability in the worthless preseason games and has a history of creating turnovers in college. Can he step up?

  3. David Says:

That is a shame. He looks very promising with a lot of speed. He needs to learn from Brooks and David- You do not need to make a bone crushing play, just make a sure tackle

  4. Buc1987 Says:

That sucks…I really liked this dude!

  5. orlbucfan Says:

    CRAP!!! Get lost, Buc Luck!!

  6. Bobby Says:

Man, Dennis looks like a potential rising star in this league. But he is only in 2nd season and he just can’t remain healthy. The best ability is availability in sports as well as life. Kancey too, man he can’t stay healthy either. What do they do to these guys that come out of Pitt? Yea Devin White is probably available! He posted a video of David forcing a fumble on his own team’s starting qb lol…wow! Looks like he misses being a Buccaneer. I bet he is humbled now. Let’s bring him back to Tampa!?? Go get him Jason…Also please go get Hassan Reddick..Please Jason. Reddick and White. Bet you get them for very little compensation in trades. We might have an opportunity to go very far this season. Need more depth and firepower on defense!! Great job on yesterday’s game Buccaneers

  7. ^^mtn^^ Says:

Like his play & like his potential to replace LaVonte, when it’s time.

Hopefully he outgrows being injury prone.

Don’t want him to acquire the moniker “Sir Glass e-a”

  8. unbelievable Says:

Yeah it didn’t look good when he left the game.

And that’s a shame, because Britt’s limitations are glaringly obvious. Expect him to get targeted quite a bit going forward in both the passing and run game by opponents.

  9. SteelStudBuc Says:

Bring back White… 6th round pick

  10. Booger Says:

You know Ol’ DWhite would give his left nut to be able to come back!!!!

  11. heyjude Says:

Oh no, this is a big loss.

Thank you for the laugh about the rested up player in Philly.

  12. Bojim Says:

    Another one bites the dust.

  13. Saskbucs Says:

Can we stop with the Devin White talk? No one in that locker room wants him reinserted to the mix and he prolly feels the same.

He doesn’t have the attitude to survive a team first winning culture. I wish him the best but his Bucs football is behind him.

  14. Ds Says:

Dang Britt is slow man wonder who would be available for passing downs

  15. BuxfaninTX Says:

Whaites attitude won’t let him come back here, despite not seeing the field in Philly for a single play

  16. tucker Says:

He is well rested for a reason maybe they give Russell some snaps

  17. A Bucs Fan Says:

Grier Jr. Or jj Russell about to make an impact play Thursday night!

  18. LakelandBuc Says:

They might activate Levi Jones from the practice squad

  19. Hearty Dikerson Says:

Why isn’t JJ Russell ever mentioned?

He’s looked great in limited snaps and in the preseason. Fast, nose for the ball, and still really young.

  20. BakerFan Says:

Donavan Mutin…. go sign him for a 10 day contract, this week…. Falcons cut him and he had a pretty good pre season…

  21. BucU Says:

Sir and Kancey should go back to Pittsburgh. They’re useless as Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

  22. A Bucs Fan Says:

    @BucU take a hike yourself.

  23. Tom Says:

#23 can fill the void in the passing down

  24. geno711 Says:

It will probably be JJ Russell getting snaps.

Think you could throw Britt, JJ Russell and Devin White in a garbage bag right now and pull any one of the three out and they would all be the same guy at this point.

Why do some guys on here always try to get back Rojo, Gerald McCoy, or Devin White when they all have passed their usefulness as a capable starter.

Does anyone really believe that Devin White is any good anymore? We saw him in 2019 and 2020 and he was great. Then we saw him in 2022 start to decline and then 2023 where he was one of the worst starters on our defense.

The eyeball test confirmed the decline of McCoy, Rojo and then White.

It is ok if you liked those Bucs at one point, but we need better players to help us make the playoff’s. The constant on all three of those guys. Their head got too big for their play and their work ethic and play making ability declined.

  25. LakelandBuc Says:

JJ Russell is the next man up. But he’s even slower than Britt, but he can tackle..

  26. Defense Rules Says:

Saskbucs … ‘No one in that locker room wants him (White) reinserted to the mix and he prolly feels the same.’

Can pretty much guarantee that everyone in that Bucs locker room wants one thing Saskbucs: TO WIN. If they believe that Devin White could help them do that, they’d welcome him back with open arms. Devin was dumber than dirt in how he left because he recklessly blew up about every bridge he could find, but lots of players in the NFL (and elsewhere) have been given 2nd chances for doing far worse.

  27. Defense Rules Says:

geno711 … ‘The constant on all three of those guys. Their head got too big for their play and their work ethic and play making ability declined.’

Don’t disagree at all with you on that one, but getting humbled can do wonders for resizing a head.

  28. Drunkinybor Says:

Lame 😔 He was my rising star on the team. Next man up!

  29. geno711 Says:

    @DR

Sure, everyone in the Bucs locker room wants TO WIN.

Your carefully worded sentence still implies that Bucs players and coaches think they would be more likely TO WIN with Devin White than JJ Russell or one of the guys on the practice squad.

I would agree with Saskbucs, the Devin White we saw last year is not worthy of being on this current team. We are a better defense without him.

White got a 2nd chance in Philly and cannot even dress. That is another indication of how good a football player he is right now with his 2nd chance.

    SteelStudBuc Says:
Bring back White… 6th round pick

    ^^^^

They’d have to give us more than a 6th to take White off their hands.

  31. Beeej Says:

Whatever you think of Britt, he was far superior to White last year

  32. LakelandBuc Says:

JJ Russell will get some snaps at ILB since Dennis is out.

Who will take his place on the active roster?

Probably Levi Jones or Antonio Grier Jr

  33. StickinUp4Centers Says:

Wouldn’t be surprised if Kalen DeLoach is resigned

  34. Willy Says:

    Offer a 2035 7th round for 45

  35. Buc4evr Says:

Yeah I bring White back for a six round at vet minimum. lol. Otherwise not so much. Probably Greer is up next?

  36. KnoxvilleBuc Says:

This one hurts. I was excited to see him against ATL with their weapons. Britt is more than a liability covering Robinson out of the backfield and Pitts down the seam. Britt can tackle but he is limited. Dennis’s limitations are health.

  37. Alstott40 Says:

The Devin White talk needs to stop he ruined his stay in Tampa and quite frankly nobody wants him back at all. JJ Russell and Grier can do better and are hungry I’m sure, White is self oriented and can’t get his head out of his you know what

  38. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

    Bring back diva.

  39. Biff Barker Says:

    Devin White is a malcontent.

    Talented but stupid.

  40. Biff Barker Says:

Pitt players need their own rehab. they don’t work out well in Tampa Bay.
Memo to Licht. Kancey is a weak link.

  41. Bosch Says:

For depth, Devin White will do. Unless he truly burnt that bridge (which he may have).

  42. ATLBUC Says:

    DR
I agree. Whites arrogance was on display every time he was miked up. He still has tons of talent and speed but can he humble himself enough to come back with a good attitude. If so, this team will welcome him back and give him the opportunity to prove himself

  43. Fred McNeil Says:

I don’t think DeLoche or whatever his name was is even on the PS. There’s a guy named Vii or something like that. JJ Russel is not too bad either. IDK that they’ll be looking to sign anybody just yet. Jags are Jags.

  44. Bucnjim Says:

Have you ever heard of a song that says if you can make it in Philly you can make it anywhere? Nope neither have I!

  45. Hodad Says:

A rising star, that’s a joke right? He’s a 5th round pick who hasn’t made it through one training camp healthy. Not one preseason game in two years. He’s started like two games in his short career, and never stood out in one of them. He’s so good, he doesn’t even start, probably for this reason, they’re affaid he’d get hurt. He’s not cut out for the NFL, to injury prone. He finally made it on the field as a part time player, and lasted a total of 3, and a half games. If the Bucs were counting on this guy to be the next David, they’re as clueless as Joe calling him a rising star. Thanks for the good laugh Joe.

  46. BucU Says:

@ ABucsFan….Couldn’t care less if u don’t like my post. Kancey is a straight up BUM. I had recent high hopes for Sirvocea but it appears he’s another one just not cut out for the NFL.
Pretty embarrassing when you have 34 yr old Lavonte David and Will Gholsten practicing every single day and playing every single week while the 2 delicate flowers from Pitt can’t go take a piss w/o pulling a muscle for the last season and a quarter.

  47. Rod Munch Says:

Go get White, and he wants to be here.

He literally, during the game, reposted David strip-sacking Hurts. He’s trying to get out of Philadelphia, and the Bucs should be trying to get him (well on the cheap, to be sure).

You can argue about the price of getting White – I don’t think it would take more than a conditional 7th rounder down the road. But if you’re flat out against bringing White back, and want to watch worthless Britt out there every week giving up huge plays, then you’re an idiot.

  48. tucker Says:

White gave up just as many if not more big plays than Britt don’t understand this argument lol but at any rate it’s just fantasy white isn’t coming back to the bucs.

White gave up just as many if not more big plays than Britt

    ———-

    Literally low IQ fake news.

    What an idiot.

  50. Hodad Says:

White can’t even get on the field for philly’s pathetic defense. His best shot at a job should be a stable hand.

  51. stpetebucfan Says:

    @Geno and D.R.

As usual you guys provide some excellent food for thought and I accept both of your points about DW45…or have they given his number away yet. I guess if they got him back he could “buy” it back if it’s gone.

Meanwhile Geno as usual brings up a solid point. Does DW really have enough want to and gas in the tank to humble himself and come back as a TEAM not a ME player.

While I agree with D.R. that the possibility is that DW45 ‘might” be humbled enough to be thrilled to revisit the team that made him famous.

So those are my questions as well. I’m not against DW45 but I do not support signing him without MAJOR concerns being addressed first.

#1 Geno makes a good point. DW45’s play clearly fell off. Now the question is at his age was it because he let his head get ahead of his game? Or is he simply not willing to put in all the work it takes to stay in premier shape.
So to me the MAJOR question is can DW45 still play?

#2 DW45 has already shown himself to be an idiot prima donna. Now young guys with early success can have that go to his head and I’ve done some very stupid stuff myself when I was that age. IF he will eat some humble pie and agree to play wherever Todd wants him…if that means platooning with Britt or any other player he simply follows orders without whining.

Rod…Did you not see Gardner Minshew leave DW45’s jock on the turf and run in for an easy TD last season. Yeah it was only ONE play, perhaps the ugliest of the entire season, but White was out of position in other games, called out for loafing by former Buc stars and that has to go! DW45 at his best is obviously head and shoulders above Britt, but what guarantee will the Bucs have DW45 is not another in a long line of Buc distractions that used to drag this franchise down?

  52. Ol' Boy Says:

Devin White needs a Mickey Goldmill in his life and maybe he makes a comeback.

  53. Dave Pear Says:

It does reveal special insight when someone says that the guys in the locker room want to win. That’s sheer genius.

  54. Bucs since 76 Says:

Philly would be hit with a 5.2 million dead cap hit if they trade or release Devin White. Therefore, Philly is stuck with him for this year. They may suspend him or hope he quits.

  55. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

    Is hardy nickerson available?

  56. BucU Says:

Can’t blame Jason Licht for selecting Kancey and Dennis. Who coulda known that the moment both of them walked in the door at 1 Buc Place they’d both be permanent members of the rehab facility?

  57. BucU Says:

“”A rising star, that’s a joke right? He’s a 5th round pick who hasn’t made it through one training camp healthy. Not one preseason game in two years. At least he was a 5th rd pick so no great loss but the perpetual Kancey injuries are hurting this team big time as a 1st rd pick. He’s on track to be a massive bust. Soft as Charmin man.

  58. TruckerBuc Says:

White? God no. He didn’t learn here. He didn’t learn in philly. Bring him back to loaf and divide the locker room? No thanks.
