Premature Jocularity With The Dixie Chicks

September 9th, 2024

Division still goes through Tampa.

Well now, did anyone notice how John Elway Kirk Cousins and his anointed team of the decade Dixie Chicks did yesterday? That’s right, not very well.

Awww.

Cousins and the Dixie Chicks were shellacked Justin Fields and the mighty Pittsburgh Steelers. This was acommplished by the Men of Steel without scoring a touchdown, 18-10.

Dan Graziano of ESPN, who was one of the few in the #NFLMedia who thought everyone running to place their bets on Atlanta in the Super Bowl were, well, maybe getting ahead of their skis, wonders how many folks this morning regret not picking the Bucs to four-peat as NFC South champs this fall.

Meanwhile, there’s a team in Tampa Bay that has won the NFC South each of the past three years and just beat Washington 37-20 to open the season.

Joe isn’t going to go crazy here. It’s only Week 1. The Bucs already are beat to hell on defense with injuries. So let’s not start planning any boat parades.

Still, Joe was and has been fully bewildered how so many were jumping on the Cousins bandwagon and handing them the division title before the season began.

The Bucs, on the other hand, may have had a statement game in beating Washington 37-20. The Bucs scored on their first five possessions.

What was the statement?

It was for all those who fell in love with Cousins despite him suffering a major leg injury last year.  “The Bucs aren’t close to being finished yet.”

The Bucs did it first! Bringing in a stud free agent, established QB into a stacked team ready to win. The rams copied us and succeeded… Unfortunately. Then the Jets tried, and now the Falcons. The problem is Cousins is damaged goods and they gave him a huge amount of money. He won’t be back to his old self until probably next year, based off of achilles injuries I’ve seen. They tried to copy the formula, and the media eats it up. Problem is, their team wasn’t/isnt a qb away, and like I said, he’s damaged goods. Not to mention as said in previous articles, Cousins isn’t exactly John Elway.

  2. Hodad Says:

Eisen, and Brandt picked Washington to beat Tampa yesterday because of Danials. They should’ve put their money on the former #1 pick in the draft who can actually throw for TDs, four of em! Maybe the talking clowns will finally learn. Kurt Cousins, you still like that?

  3. DBS Says:

Does Pere Schrager the closest Bucs fan want back on the Bucs bandwagon now?

  4. SB Says:

    Lol nice wordplay Joe

  5. ModHairKen Says:

Beating the Redskins was expected. Had they not, the Traskies and Bowles name changers would have emerged from the ground like cicadas.

Beat Detroit in Detroit. Then people can have something to say. Until then, all they did is what they had to do.

And Glass Jaw Carlton Davis probably won’t be there for revenge for getting dumped.

  6. Paul Says:

Ooh, the Bucs beat a bad Commanders team. Let’s crown them the NFC South champions already. Please…

Let’s put this all in perspective….
    1) The Commanders have not had a winning season since 2018 AND played a rookie quarterback.
    2) Who exactly do the Commanders have as an elite pass rasher? Uh..nobody.
    3) Meanwhile, the Falcons faced TJ Watt who has led the league in sacks for the last 4 years (excluding 2022 due to injury).

“Cousins and the Dixie Chicks were by shellacked Justin Fields and the mighty Pittsburgh Steelers”. Come on now, this is a stretch.

The Falcons’ defense SHUT DOWN Fields and the the offense who never scored any points and got to the red zone once I believe. Fields had the same number of passing yards as Cousins. He was just a game manager. Special teams won the game…with SIX field goals.

Falcons scored their only TD after a Steelers strip-sack was negated by a horrible call. Fields is a backup quarterback. What did you expect?–Joe

The Vikings blew out a bad Giants team. Nobody is predicting the Vikings to win the NFC North. The Vikings and the Bucs have one thing in common…a mediocre quarterback. Let’s see how the Bucs do facing a far tougher Lions’ team…at Ford field….probably not well.

And on a side note, did anyone notice the beginning of the Sam Darnold career year? A lot of Cousin’s stats had a lot less to do with him than the tools he had to work with.

  8. BA’s Red Pen Says:

    Cousins looked like a buffoon.

  9. ATLBUC Says:

ESPN is probably feeling silly about picking the Chickens to win the division. After showing hilights of the game they talked about McDaniels and said nothing about the Bucs blowout victory

  10. Citrus County Says:

Heres hoping our defense gets well soon. Until then let us not fret.
Anyone remember back when the defense had to carry the load for the offense ? Perhaps our offense is now capable of carrying the load while the defense heals. If that happens for a couple of weeks then we will be SB contenders in the minds of some critics.

  11. Bojim Says:

Funny question. Between Baker and an unhurt Cousins, who would the Bucs have picked?

  12. Bantry Says:

Here’s hoping when the Nat’l media and others start descending on One Buc Place begging for access, they receive a reply of, ‘Sorry, there are no boats available, you should have gotten onboard at the beginning.’

  13. Bucsfan Says:

Jimmy Johnson was quick to point out that folks should pump the brakes on anointing Atl with the NFC South crown and Terry Bradshaw showed Baked much love with his show ending comments as well. Beat Detroit and the whole country will notice. Hard hitting Marcus Banks should move up to the active roster as Bucs are thin in the defensive backfield.

    Gotta punk the Aint’s first.

  17. Wild Bill Says:

Nice win for the Bucs. Terrible display by the annoited Chickies!! Reality bites hard for Atlanta and it’s preseason hype. All those so called media experts don’t put on the cleats and play in the trenches. The city of Atlanta is a media center for the entire Southeast. But last time I checked, media suits don’t play defense or score touch downs. Nice division win and great start for the season. Next week should be a tougher test. GO Bucs!!!

  18. StickinUp4Centers Says:

Eh maybe premature. 2020 Bucs signed Brady got all the preseason hype and lost the first game as well. Turned out fine by January/February

D##ned straight! I dunno about the SB though. The Detroit game might provide some clues.

  20. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Aww a fanboi feeling like a ModelHairKaren??? If Baker can play like he did yesterday then there’ll be no need to even bring up Trasks name. might have to play that way for the time being since defense is getting riddled with injuries. They went all soft shelled turtle on Washington’s last drive and just let them score

  21. dbbuc711 Says:

Hilarious to me is what Bucs are doing with the QB that Carolina didn’t want 🤣🤣🤣
