No Update On Vita Vea

September 15th, 2024

Status?

Bucs coach Todd Bowles was asked on the Buccaneers Radio Network about the severity of the knee injury to defensive tackle Vita Vea.

Bowles replied, “Not at this time.”

Joe is sure the Bucs will wait for all tests on Vea’s knee to come back before the team will comment. Maybe Bowles may have an update Monday in his day-after presser.

Vea went down in the third quarter against the Lions and left the game. Video of the injury is below. Of course, it doesn’t look good, but most injuries don’t look good. At least Vea wasn’t carted off.

Knee injuries are nothing new for Vea, who has battled through them in past seasons.

    Hopefully just a sprain

  2. Paratrooper Buc Says:

After 5 knee surgeries on my right knee while in the Army, I am very sympathetic to anyone who gets a knee injury. I pray Vita is only dealing with a sprain.

  3. Bojim Says:

    Falling like flys.

  4. Bucsfan81 Says:

Damn that doesn’t look good and this would be the second major knee injury for him. He might not be able to hold up through the grind of an NFL season.

  5. A Bucs Fan Says:

    Could be a sprain.

  6. Leopold Stotch Says:

    Prayers for Vita. Looks awful.

  7. Jerseybuc Says:

Seen it happen live. Knew that wasn’t good

  8. A Bucs Fan Says:

@Bucsfan81 – When was his first major knee injury?

I thought he only broke his ankle/fibula ?

    wow to:

    whitehead
    zyon
    big sir
    izien

and the whole d played great…

even after the complexion of the game almost drastically changed with the loss of vita

Knew RT would be the most glaring injury weakness but not as bad as it got .. still Defense showed a lot battling like a #1 unit wout key players, but Xtra blow to Vea really hurts. Hopefully not too serious. Least whole Offense will be healthy this week. Glad it’s just Denver

  11. adam from ny Says:

if that’s only a sprain, luck is on vita’s side…

    prayers for the big guy

That’s the one I am talking about a few years ago. Thought it was against Chicago where he injured his leg and was out like rest of the season or most of it.

I’ll take credit for getting it right. I said all week if they put that scrub out there, who couldn’t block anyone in the preseason, if you put that guy out there and expect him to block Hutch 1-on-1, it would look like TJ Watt in week 1 vs the Falcons. And I was right. What I don’t get is how the Bucs didn’t know that.

  14. Bubby Says:

Love Vita and hope he returns quickly, but the D didn’t lose a step without him. Pretty amazing performance.

  15. Permanently Moderated Says:

Reminiscent of Hall taking out Jensen. The pirate curse is strong.

  16. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

How in the world did you pull off that win?! Get healthy and we might just be damn good.

  17. firethecannons Says:

video did not show much will wait and pray

  18. Pewter Power Says:

Oh the D lost a step. Play a full game without Vea on the field you wouldn’t pay something like that. Detroit should have run the ball more if they wanted to win

  19. heyjude Says:

Hope Vea ends up being okay. He has been taking care of his health and losing weight. That is all on his side too.

  20. Bucs Guy Says:

Need Goedeke back next week. Need Clancy, Vea or both. Saw Logan Hall make a tackle, but I don’t think he can replace either of them.

  21. adam from ny Says:

    ^^^^^^

that’s simply not true…the defense seemed much more porous without vita…especially on those next few lions’ drives…

then the d gathered their bearings and hunkered down…

definitely looked weaker up the middle without the big man clogging sh!t up

  22. Bucamania Says:

Get well soon big guy. Hoping for a sprain

  23. Canabuc Says:

The little bit I saw the mechanism of injury when there is pressure coming into the outside of the knee and it buckles inward is usually an MCL sprain can sometimes also cause a meniscal tear and an ACL tear as well.
Hopefully just an MCL sprain and he misses a few weeks. Otherwise I suspect he will be out for the season.

  24. Bobby M. Says:

Sprain….should be back in a few weeks

  25. Bucsgoham12 Says:

Broncos, Eagles, ATL(TNF) Philly is the only team wear it seems like they would truly need him. I hope it is just a sprain and he can come back after the mini bye from TNF.

  26. Knucknbuc Says:

Looks hyperextended to me think 4-6 weeks

  27. Lakeland Says:

I like Greg Gaines a lot, he knows how to get to the QB.
