NFL Sources: Veteran NFC South QBs Are Lousy

September 6th, 2024

It’s not just him.

It seems those in authority making personnel decisions in NFL circles simply do not like the veteran quarterbacks in the NFC South.

Albert Breer of SI.com, who is as well-connected as any NFL reporter, touched base with some 85 coaches, suits and general managers. He asked them all, “Who the best quarterbacks will be at the end of the season?” They had to pick their top 5.

None believe Baker Mayfield, slimy Saints quarterback Derek Carr or Dixie Chicks quarterback Kirk Cousins are worth a damn. They weren’t among the 20 quarterbacks to get a vote.

The gang of NFL types collectively prefer the quarterback for the worst team in the league, second-year signal-caller Bryce Young of the Stinking Panthers. He got one vote.

So much for #NFLMedia‘s infatuation with John Elway Cousins.

Again, this ain’t media guys typing and ranking Mayfield — the guys who hate him so much that they’re willing to eat four years of hating on Cousins to suddenly pretend Cousins is the new John Elway.

These are NFL guys, and clearly a lot of them are banking on projections.

Caleb Williams tied for No. 14. Fellow rookie Bo Nix tied with Young at No. 18. Neither Williams nor Nix has taken a snap in an NFL regular season game.

Want to know why the NFC South gets the backhand of media coverage? Right there: The quarterbacks. People don’t like ugly. People like pretty. If you have a quarterback, you have a pretty team.

As Joe always types, it’s all about the quarterback. Even when it is not about the quarterback, it’s about the quarterback.

    Yet another anonymous BS gimmick.

    Yawn…ZZZZ

    Go Bucs!

  2. heyjude Says:

Exhausting. Same anonymous picks all the time. Why won’t SI give us the names of the GMs, coaches, and others…, and who they chose? Now that would be more interesting and transparent.

  3. Matt_PcAfee Says:

Sounds like another major media circle jerk to fill the time before the season starts

  4. Dreambig Says:

It doesn’t matter what all of these people say. Prognosticating what will happen this year based on last years result is always a fools errand. That’s why we play the games!

  5. Buddha Says:

    Provides many good wavering opportunities.

  6. gotbbucs Says:

Okay? Nobody in their right mind is going to say any of the QB’s in the South are one of the top-5 in the NFL.
If they were only supposed to pick their top-5, then how in the world can anybody take it seriously when two rookies and Bryce Young made the list?

Just beat the bearskins Sunday. By any means necessary. Ugly, pretty. Win.

    *Deadskins awful autocorrect

  9. SlyPirate Says:

    What does top 5 mean?
Mahomes and Baker had almost the same stats last year. Mahomes didn’t finish top 5 in yards or TD. Is anyone not listing Mahomes as #1?

  10. Idroolpewter&red Says:

Given the history of first round QB picks, it’s not illogical to assume that at least 3 of the QBs taken in the first round this year’s draft will be busts. Why would anyone assume otherwise?

  11. Gipper Says:

Baker will light in up in Tampa Year 2……..Hope the O line can keep him healthy.

    This season will be fun.

Same as it ever was! Haters hate, lovers love! I prefer the love 💓!

  14. Captain Dan Lawrence Says:

That would be our QB who was the first pick in the draft, won the division his first year with a new offensive coordinator, and a terrible run game, Pro bowl MVP? Come-on-man!!!

All “anonymous” voted reports = a bunch of pussies.

I welcome all the “anonymous” pussies to try and fight me.

    Doubt the would.
