Mike Florio Picks Bucs To Be In NFC Championship Game

September 5th, 2024

Mike Florio of NBC Sports.

While his NBC Sports colleague Chris Simms, the ex-Bucs quarterback, thinks the Bucs will miss the playoffs in January, NFL super insider Mike Florio is picking the Bucs to expand on their playoff push of last season.

The ProFootballTalk.com founder and guru has been pounding the drum through much of the offseason that the Bucs are ridiculously underrated and underappreciated.

He backed it up with his NFC picks.

1. Packers; 2. 49ers; 3. Buccaneers; 4. Eagles;
5. Lions; 6. Commanders; 7. Seahawks.
Wild card: 49ers over Seahawks; Buccaneers over Commanders; Lions over Eagles.
Divisional: Packers over Lions; Buccaneers over 49ers.
Conference championship: Packers over Buccaneers.
Super Bowl: Chiefs over Packers.

Joe certainly thinks the Bucs are capable of the No. 3 seed and winning in the playoffs. Beating the 49ers on the west coast, per this scenario, that’s tough for Joe to envision.

Regardless, it’s fantastic to see Florio join the few reasoned and seasoned smart-guy national analysts out there picking Tampa Bay to thrive.

With All due respect…couldn’t, care less in what this joker has to say….

  2. Pewter Power Says:

we will find out in the regular season how we stack up to eagles cowboys niners and lions. We’re getting smacked around but everyone is seriously overhyping packers and Falcons

  3. unbelievable Says:

I agree about beating the 49ers on their turf. I don’t think we’ve done that in years, if not decades.

But if we can, I’d say we’re headed to the Super Bowl lol. We can definitely beat Green Bay.

  4. SlyPirate Says:

    49ers
LAR and ARZ are way better. 49ers have a rough schedule. They’ll be in a dogfight with LAR for the division this year.

    Packers
Not sure what people are smoking here. They are excited about that 9-8 team but hate the Bucs? Detroit is still better. Chicago looks way better on paper. That division will be black and blue.

I don’t hate the 3 seed prediction. Seems right although the teams above may look different.

  5. NJbucs23 Says:

11-6 and NFC championship game appearance!

    Let’s enjoy the ride !

  6. A Bucs Fan Says:

Bucs have not played the 49ers well in recent years. The Packers they have. I’d have to see the Bucs beat the 49ers to believe it. I think they beat the Packers 8 out 10 times.

The hardest out based on recent history is the lions. Jared Goff eats Todd Bowles defense for lunch. It’d be eye opening if the Bucs can steal a win week 2 in the motor city.

  7. Larry Says:

I posted two weeks ago, Bucs & lions in the NFC Championship. Lions win though.

  8. JustVisiting Says:

I’m not sure the record of one team against another means much, unless there’s strong continuity across those years among coaches and players. Otherwise, it’s just one brand playing another, not necessarily predictive of anything.

  9. Buddha Says:

Why are the Buccaneers only favored by 3? The Action network is reporting that all the big wise-guy money is on Washington.

  10. Fred McNeil Says:

    It all starts tonight

  11. Jeffrey Becker Says:

ewww. commanders that good eh. glad we get em opening day because that rook is gonna be a stud

  12. DRob Says:

Over… commanders? I’m sorry the commanders are 4th in their division and not making the playoffs.

    Really undermines the take.

  13. Larrd Says:

    Packers are overrated, imo.

  14. Idroolpewter&red Says:

You’d think it shouldn’t take as much courage as Florio is showing to put the Bucs in the NFC championship game.

  15. Noclu4u Says:

2nd youngest team in NFL in NFC Championship. Sounds good to me and bodes well for the future.

  16. Brandon Says:

I don’t see the Commanders being close to the playoffs this season

  17. Harold Says:

    Redskins 31 Buccaneers 13

  18. Bojim Says:

    Thank you Mike.

  19. Dave Pear Says:

The Bucs offense is the key. We all know to expect a continuation of the soft zone bust pass defense.

  20. Here4Drknss Says:

If this team plays to its potential, it’s a tough match up for any team in the NFL.

  21. Winny Testaverde Says:

If Joe didn’t idolize Florio enough before…this pushes it to an all-time high! 🙂

  22. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Dang.

I hope our offense looks anywhere close to as good as Baltimore’s first drive.

  23. unbelievable Says:

Welp, so far the new kickoffs are terrible and boring, just like I said they would be.

  24. Dave Pear Says:

Zebras belong on a plain in Kenya, not in football.

  25. Jake been there since the beginning Says:

Mike Florio tries to actually do a little investigation instead of just being a douche bag like all the haters. I’ve been saying it all along, I really think we have a team very capable of a deep playoff run and why not an NFC Championship game. Oh Yeah Let’s Go Bucs!!!!

  26. adam from ny Says:

we really should win this sunday…

but the problem is we tend to make scrub and rookie qb’s look like superstars against us – then they come back down to earth vs. the rest of the league…

not sure why that is, but i guess we gotta beware ourselves of one jayden mcdonalds potentially having an unnerving cj stroud like day

  27. Rod Munch Says:

Before you get too excited, here’s Florio picks from last year…

    AFC

Wild card: Jets over Jaguars, Dolphins over Ravens, Steelers over Bengals.

Divisional: Chiefs over Jets, Steelers over Dolphins.

    Conference championship: Chiefs over Steelers.

    NFC

    1. 49ers; 2. Eagles; 3. Packers; 4. Saints; 5. Seahawks; 6. Giants; 7. Cowboys.

Wild card: Eagles over Cowboys, Packers over Giants, Seahawks over Saints.

Divisional: 49ers over Seahawks; Eagles over Packers.

    Conference championship: 49ers over Eagles.

    Super Bowl: Chiefs over 49ers.

  28. SenileSenior Says:

What JustVisiting says makes a whole lot of sense. Every team is different every year but continuity means something also. Our Bucs will need that continuity of excellence in order to draw any conclusions.

    Go Bucs! Win now!

  29. Rod Munch Says:

What a game between the Chiefs and Ravens, very entertaining.

  30. Obvious Says:

Zzzzz is asleep at the wheel and will get him and any sucker listening to her killed (saints fan) and Harold the horses arse (desperate Washington fan) has been on all four for so long that he’s been kicked in the head by the others in the pig pen far too often and he needs to have his head examined!

    It’s a desperate look ladies.

The Bucs are too strong for both of your teams. One of you is too old and the other too young. The Bucs….. Just Right in the Goldie Locks zone and we’re only going to get stronger as the season wears on. The MASSIVELY upgraded run game, o line, and the GAPPING hole in the secondary has been made lethal. Baker will play far more relaxed and accurate than even last year and the pass rush WILL BE stronger one way or the other even if by hook or by crook.

There WILL BE more turn overs, more sacks, more yards gained, and more touch downs than the year before. We BY FAR are stronger and now HAVE an obvious continuity that we simple did not have last year but OBVIOUSLY and VERY CLEARLY gained by the last third of the season, WILL CARRY OVER into this year! There isn’t away we aren’t better than we were last year…. Better, Stronger, Faster!

P.S. Todd Bowles will be the best version of himself EVER of which puts the sealant on top of the glue.

We saved the reciepts and WE ARE GOING TO “RETURN” the the LOUSY predictions to all of the DELUSIONAL pundits for a FULL APOLOGY REFUND!

It’s RIDE OR DIE TIME! BUCS GO FURTHER THAN THE LAST IN 2024! YOU can go ahead and MARK IT! It’s the BEST BET you’ll make all year.

For fellow fans, apologies for the long version but I just couldn’t help myself. I’ve heard enough and I’m giddy thinking about the glory to come and how SWEET it’s going to be as these Feeble Predictions from Pontificating Pundents, WILL BE stumbling over themselves while “explaining” why these people Blew It AGAIN AS USUAL! The disrespect is so thick you can cut it with a knife! That’s ENOUGH!

    GO BUCS!

  31. Dave Pear Says:

    Wow. Obvious. Go Bucs.

  32. BucU Says:

“”I hope our offense looks anywhere close to as good as Baltimore’s first drive.””

And yet they only finish with 20 points.

  33. orlbucfan Says:

Whatever. Who’s Mike Florio? Go Bucs!!
