Meet The Greatest Long-Range Kicker In The History Of The NFL
September 17th, 2024What the Aguayo is going on here?
Bucs fans have seen Buccaneers kicker Chase McLaughlin be money from long range in the regular season, after a slightly shaky preseason. He also was great last season and was known for his leg strenght before arriving in Tampa as a free agent in March of 2023.
But Joe learned today on the Buccaneers Radio Network that McLaughlin is now the most successful long-range kicker in the history of NFL regular seasons.
Per team reporter Casey Phillips, McLaughlin has nailed 83.9 percent of his career field goal attempts from 50 or more yards. Phillips said that’s the highest percentage in NFL history from that distance.
On Sunday, McLaughlin drilled a 55-yarder in the first quarter against the Lions. He’s 26 of 31 all-time from 50-plus yards — plus 1 of 2 from that range in two postseason games.
So if you’ve found yourself saying McLaughlin is really good from long range. You’re accurate. He’s the best ever.
And Joe has to tip a cap to Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht. After a wacky revolving door at kicker early in his tenure, Licht has delivered Super Bowl kicker Ryan Succop for three seasons followed by McLaughlin.

McLaughlin has been a great crazy how the kicking situation worked out we had to go through alota bozos to have a top 5 kicker in the nfl

That does not surprise me in the least. The guy is a beast.
September 17th, 2024 at 5:38 pm
DO NOT say it loud enough for him to hear. You know damn well what that can do to a kickers head haha
September 17th, 2024 at 5:44 pm
Great to hear! We are very lucky to have McLaughlin as our kicker.
September 17th, 2024 at 5:48 pm
Don’t jinx him.

Huge upgrade over Succop. Bowles wanted a bomber and he got one. Amazing!

i heard a thing this week how more kickers are knocking 50+ yarders thru the uprights on a regular basic these days…throughout the whole league…
years ago a 50+ yard field goal was a crap shoot – nowadays it’s more expected from your kicker to get it done…
in fact, back in the 70s and 80s they weren’t really even attempted…
the question is what are kickers doing nowadays to boot the ball further and more accurately…?
mclaughlin is the best these days…and that 55 yarder this past weekend had at least 60 in it…
his kicks never squeak over the post, they clear it with more yards to give – always…
maybe his foot is dipped in iron lol

Everyone knows the rule, Joe.
NEVER TALK ABOUT A KICKER’S HOT STREAK
Great work. Hope you’re proud of yourself when he misses.

Don’t jinx him. Talk about Camarda and get him to turn it around.
September 17th, 2024 at 7:11 pm
Interesting.
But WTF has happened to Carmada?
September 17th, 2024 at 7:14 pm
@adam” kickers & punters are eons ahead in their craft than 20-30 years ago. No comparisons. Great kickers and pubters are on the streets now. There is nowhere to show their craft.
Well, maybe the UFL where Bates was excellent last season.
I predict in 3-5 years, 60 yd FG’s will be normal.

I remember when 26 of 31 was respectable from 40+
That is very impressive.
September 17th, 2024 at 7:33 pm
Don’t a lot of these kickers have some soccer experience in their backgrounds? I know I read that a few years back. Kudos to Chase; he’s as cool as a cucumber, too. Camarda was averaging around 46 yards on his punts so he’ll be fine.
September 17th, 2024 at 7:44 pm
yeah what is going on with camarda…?
clearly no longer has the boom to it…he’s like a different punter now..
puffin’ the stuffin’ maybe

His percentage from 50+ is better than the great Roberto Arguayo from inside the 30!!.
Loool
September 17th, 2024 at 8:21 pm
Dang you brought it up and said Aguayo too. He will miss the next one for sure now.
September 18th, 2024 at 2:30 am
2nd year I’ve drafted him in fantasy. Dude has been money for me. Also it’s a relief for me to see that as soon as we hit the 50 at least, we get pretty much a guaranteed 3 points.
September 18th, 2024 at 7:49 am
Never mention this again.
September 18th, 2024 at 7:21 pm
Yeah you’re gonna jinx him lol. We don’t need another situation like that short kicker we had during our first Superbowl run who injured himself jumping up and down. He was never the same since. Meh what do I know, I’m buzzed and can’t even remember his name lol. Grammatica I think, yeah that sounds right. He went from great to a dud in like the very next season. Once these kickers get overconfident, they start missing and then their confidence gets shattered. Shhhh 😏

Automatica Gramatica!!!
