Marcus Spears Doesn’t Like Vibe With Eagles’ Offense Facing Todd Bowles

You can tell former Cowboys defensive end and current BSPN talking head Marcus Spears has a lot of respect for Todd Bowles.
Perhaps that is because Bowles was on Bill Parcells’ staff in Dallas when the Cowboys drafted Spears in 2005. Spears doesn’t believe teams whose offenses are entering a game against Bowles with an arm tied behind their backs are in any position of strength.
Therefore, after initially thinking the Eagles would prevail today, Spears had a change of heart. Speaks thinks the Eagles have too many injuries to burn the Bucs this afternoon.
“There are a lot of injuries,” Spears said of the Eagles offense. “You think of Jalen Hurts against Todd Bowles’ defense without all of his requisite weapons.
“When you look at the one-on-ones and when you need to have a play made, I just don’t feel good about the Philly offense being able to matriculate and have a lot of yards and have explosive plays against Todd Bowles’ defense. If they do, I’d be surprised.”
Therefore, Spears is picking the Bucs to win.
Hurts, the Eagles quarterback, has a worse record facing Bowles since he’s been the Bucs defensive coordinator than against any other defensive coordinator in the league.

These Bucs don’t need any bulletin board material pointing to an easy game. They still have to score against a D that only gave up 12 points to a team that had 40+ in 3 straight games. Now if Jalen Carter was hurt, it would be different.

I hope he’s right, but it seems the Bucs injuries are having a greater impact on the team than the Eagles’ injuries are having on them. If Skule is the best they can do at RT while Goedeke is out, we’re screwed.

I am also picking the Buc’s to win. But don’t be fooled into thinking Tampa can’t revert back to last weeks debacle in a blink of an eye. I can tell on the first few offense and defensive cycles if they are flat or humming along. My biggest concern is the absence of Luke Geodeke, the cards can easily fall without him on the field.
