Major Power Shift In The NFC

September 15th, 2024

“Mike, I’m not texting Rich Eisen back.”

So the slimy Saints and the Buccaneers have become the undefeated bad boys of the NFC — with the 49ers getting upset today by Sam Darnold and the Vikings, along with the Bucs leading with defense in their takedown of the Lions in Detroit.

Joe loves seeing this.

The national moans of, ‘Oh, the Bucs are weak and the NFC South is a wasteland’ have evaporated. Hopefully.

The Saints blew out the Cowboys in Dallas and the Niners-Vikings game wasn’t even that close. San Francisco kicked a late field goal and Minnesota took two kneeldowns to close the game. The Vikings are now 2-0. Losing Kirk Cousins didn’t exactly implode the franchise.

As Joe types this, the Cardinals (0-1) are blowing out the Rams (0-1) and the Seahawks lead the NFC West at 2-0.

Up next for the Saints? They’ll host the Eagles on Sunday at 1 p.m., as the Bucs simultaneously host the Broncos.

    But the Bucs are better.

  2. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Saints look strong.

  3. Winny Testaverde Says:

Lost in all of the hoopla is the potent offense of Carolina…led by El Hornāy Canales and his Pop Warner phenom Baby Bryce Young!

  4. A Bucs Fan Says:

    Saints oline looks powerful.

  5. Beeej Says:

Mebbe if they didn’t give Dak $60 million/yr they cold hire some decent players

  6. Miller5252 Says:

That sucks the Saints are doing good so far. I was really hoping the Bucs would finally wipe the field with the Saints this year. Have a couple more easy games that they can rest players and get healthy before the playoffs. Be another Panthers type team. The Bucs have a pretty loaded schedule and a couple of easy games would have been nice for the Bucs

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

TBBF hates the Cowboys but not enough to root for the Saints

  8. Drunkinybor Says:

Dave ( Tony Robbins) Canales whispered longingly amd lovingly in Bryce Youngs ears and produced a new man. 18-24 84 yards!!. 🤢 3 points. I couldn’t stand that clown. On to bigger and better things. We dodged a bullet and hurt our rival!! Go Bucs!! I had to tell a lot of internet Buv fans to have some pride before the game. They were kissing detroits fans butt’s saying how lucky we would be to win and just letting Detroit stank city act high and mighty. Told em tour making us look bad, sac up what jave they done? Bowles might just be in his prime right now. This win is on him.

  9. Buc4evr Says:

The Saints are truly scary. Lots of trick plays , short passes inside and long passes upfield. They really confused the cowboy defense.

  10. GeorgiaRedneck Says:

I watched the Saints game. Still don’t know if they are good or Dallas defense is bad. We didn’t get the Bucs here in Georgia.

  11. adam from ny Says:

you gotta realize…weak divisions don’t remain weak divisions forever…

before the nfc south, the nfc east was called the “nfc least”…then they leveled up and the nfc south held the title…

the south has been weak for a few years now…there are definite shifts in everything every 3 to 5 years…

maybe the division is better now…it’s early on – time will tell…

all this falcons talk…meanwhile early on the bucs and saints are balling…

let’s just not get sleepy against sean payton’s gang next week in what could be a potential trap game before philly

  12. Dave Pear Says:

I can’t believe the injury decimated defense held the Lions and Dan Campbell to one TD and that was right after Vita went out. Just spectacular.

  13. Citrus County Says:

Check out the 4 letter and you won’t find any mention of the Bucs.

  14. adam from ny Says:

wow the eagles play the falcons, saints and bucs back to back to back…starting tomorrow night

  15. Leopold Stotch Says:

The only thing that will keep me somewhat sane if the Aints are legit is the fact that if we do get swept, our superbowl chances raise a lot. Since we’ve won it going 0-2 against them

  16. Jmarkbuc Says:

Credit to Alex Smith on ESPN pregame

He said the Bucs would gut one out…

Nobody else picked the Bucs. Including me.

  17. BuxfaninTX Says:

Watched the Saints game today…they are scary good at this time

  18. lambchop Says:

Christian McCaffrey and that Madden curse? 👀

  19. Richard Dickson Says:

I’m waiting for all the pundits who talked about what a gritty, hard-fought win the Lions had last week to somehow give the Bucs zero credit for the win this week.

  20. Oneilbuc Says:

We need to get Reddick from the Jets!!

  21. Dave Pear Says:

So much for developing young players, eh, Otard?

  22. Mostly Peaceful Trask Fan Says:

Between Diaby, JTS and Braswell Bucs are finally looking like they got some studs rushing the edge.

JTS isn’t playing bad at all. Diaby is just a physical freak. Braswell looks good too.

By mid season I think you’ll see this group catch fire.

  23. BA’s Red Pen Says:

    F the saints

  24. Oneilbuc Says:

Dave Pear. First of all I came at you with respect and you came at me like this. But at the same time you still need to develop your own players that you drafted. Look at Zion McCullough he’s actually better than Dean right now at this point. I will forever believe you build a championship team threw the draft like every other Superbowl team.

  25. Shane Callahan Says:

The Aints look really good. Ugh!

  26. FanoftheSouth Says:

Both Saints and Bucs had a cakewalk Week 1 and caught a good team early in the season.
Better get your money on Bucs winning the Super Bowl @+4100. Monday Morning they will be the favorite in the NFL @-100 or that would be what the delusional would think.
As of Week 2 Carr is the best QB in the NFCS if not the NFC. Sam Darnold is pushing for #2 and was probably the best QB in his draft class.

  27. Marky Mark Says:

Carolina is a disaster. Man is Canales over rated

  28. Let ‘em bake Says:

Beating the lions huge because it’s a non -common opponent with the saints. Bucs first place schedule caused match up. If we can if we can split with the ravens and niners, and go 4 and 2 in division, chances are good.

  29. Aaron Says:

Ba’s red pen F you Fboy Real talk

  30. unbelievable Says:

Hey Aaron – F you and F the Saints

  31. Aaron Says:

F with me and the the Saints are just me

  32. Aaron Says:

You’re really unbelievable lol F you

  33. Aaron Says:

Evans don’t look that good getting old don’t you think don’t know bout being another same season for him lol probably last

  34. Aaron Says:

Night night unbelievable cuz that’s how it would be 😂

  35. Dave Pear Says:

Aaron is a real articulate knob isn’t she.

  36. Larry W Nieman Says:

The way Atlanta ran on the Eagles, Saints might put up 40 on them too.
