Luke Goedeke Is “Feeling A Lot Better;” Calijah Kancey Still Out

September 25th, 2024

Luke Goedeke

So Buccaneers MVP  starting right tackle Luke Goedeke has missed the past two games with a concussion issue.

As anyone athlete who’s dealt with a concussion knows, every situation is different and it’s one day at a time. Take three steps forward and one step back can happen.

Goedeke, however, was a limited participant in practice and, per Todd Bowles, “is feeling a lot better.”

That doesn’t meant he’ll necessarily be cleared to play Sunday, when the Bucs will need him desperately against the Eagles at home.

Bowles added that defensive tackle Calijah Kancey (calf) did not practice and manbeast counterpart Vita Vea (knee) “is trying to get back.”

  1. Baker Bowl Says:

Another week with this injury list is gonna be so brutal. I say give him a guardian cap and let him cook.

  2. pewter941 Says:

Its not that Godeke is so good, its that Skule is so bad. There has to be a better backup option for us.

  3. Pryda30 Says:

Guardians caps for all Oline men

  4. Leopold Stotch Says:

I need my fellow Wisconsinite back on the field. Get better soon Luke.

  5. BucU Says:

F Kancey. Another glorious week on the couch playing video games and eating popcorn. What a complete bum he is. Straight up bum.

  6. heyjude Says:

So glad he is feeling better and is practicing slowly. It’s a good sign. We need him, but he does need to tread lightly with a concussion. Could still be unsteady and tired. Has to think of himself first. None of us would want to see him come in too early and get hurt again.

  7. StormyInFl Says:

Princess Calflijah on the bench another week.

    Shocker.

  8. StormyInFl Says:

Are Elijah Klein and Hainsey so bad that they keep trotting out Skule as their best alternative? That’s a horrible sign.

  9. BigPoppaBuc Says:

Let them heal. It’s week 4 and is probably more important to have them for next Thursday against a division opponent. Fans and their impatience with injuries is ridiculous.

  10. BucVoyager Says:

Two weeks ago people were saying the guardian caps were silly. My how times have changed.

  11. Teflon Don Says:

lol couch Game are the greatest. Kancey is dealing with a calf strain which means there is a tear in his calf. You know what tendon works hand and hand with your calf muscle? The Achilles! So yeah let’s rush him back early risk him rupturing his Achilles and lose that quick first step that made him a 1st round pick. Shame on yall for calling him a bum and a bust this soon! If he is a bust then the other guys out there now besides Vea must be dog Sh!t! Let the man heal up the season just started and it’s only one loss! Go Bucs

  12. A Bucs Fan Says:

    Guardian cap wouldn’t change anything.

  13. Fred McNeil Says:

Skule is straight up horse manure.

  14. Fred McNeil Says:

Honestly, Mauch has not been much better .

  15. zzbucs Says:

We can say whatever we wanna say about Skule and Mauch, But what everybody forgets is that Kancey is an injury prone so as Vita Vea, I know Vea is great and Kancey can be that good, but having this 2 guys is as useless than having and ashtray on a Harley Davison…..!!!!!

  16. NJbucs23 Says:

I don’t expect kancey back till Baltimore game.

  17. Dave Pear Says:

What is the plan to replace the corpse Skule?

  18. adam from ny Says:

coach put me in i’m ready…

    adam from ny > skule

    🙂

  19. Erik w/ UniqueModernArt.com Says:

Goedeke is one of the best RT’s in the NFL (Top-10 for sure, prob Top-5), and the strongest guy in our team outside of Vita Vea.

We need him for our offense to be successful and we won’t be able to win many games without him in the lineup.

Get Back soon, Luke, please. 🙏

  20. Jackson Says:

It may be time to look at trading partners for Calijah Kancey. Two years straight he has been on the shelf. Talent means nothing on the sideline.

  21. BucU Says:

Goedeke and Vita are warriors. Kancey is a paper tiger. Fragile af.

  22. richardtyson Says:

Kancey should have been put on IR it’s seems.

  23. Mostly Peaceful Trask Fan Says:

    Princess Calflijah – lol

  24. Josh Says:

If he’s not playing this week it shows how dumb our coaching staff is could have put him on the 4 week IR..

  25. JustVisiting Says:

Real men care more about winning than looking pretty: guardian caps -> fewer injuries -> more wins. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

  26. JustVisiting Says:

    I wish that pun had been intentional! {sigh}

  27. Mostly Peaceful Trask Fan Says:

Dude got his bell rung – if it took this long to clear the cobwebs out of his head.

Kancey is a bust. People just need to accept that.

  28. MegaFailure Says:

bucs are in deep doo doo

  29. gofortheface30 Says:

All these people in here so concerned about concussions, but when they watch MMA and Boxing they likely cheer with absolute glee when someone gets knocked in to next week with much MUCH more force to their brains. When it comes to a sport that is arguably as violent – oh no, rest up champ. Hell take the next 5 years off! Guess people want to express their concern and empathy when it is convenient. If it was up to Goedeke, he would have been playing last week, and that is an absolute fact. The NFL doesnt want to be hit with lawsuits that would end them so the lawyers did a really nice job of putting the fear of god in them, now theyre over policing, and fans are following along

  30. The Fighting Schianoes Says:

WAY too early to call Kancey a bust. Mike Evans had recurring hammy injuries early in his career and then he learned how to take care of himself.

Goedeke is DEFINITELY one of the better RT’s in football.

The sky is not falling people.

  31. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

As someone who tore his calf on July 7th and heard an audible “pop,” I will tell you a calf injury is no joke. I’m what, 11 weeks out? My calf is still sore when I’m not using it and swollen. When I get back to Florida the end of October, I’m gonna get it checked out.

  32. Buccos Says:

I’m glad Kancey is sitting out. We gonna need him for the playoffs

  33. Matt_PcAfee Says:

Kancey & McCaffrey must have the same physician

  34. TF Says:

The Fighting Schianoes- what recurring hamstring issues with Evans are you talking about? He has ONLY missed about 4-5 games TOTAL in over 10 years. Hence why “the 1000 yard streak”. Kancey missed that amount of games in his FIRST 12 weeks of being a pro. Evans and Kancy are NOTHING alike when it comes to availability and health.

  35. SlyPirate Says:

    Just Stop with Kancey …

CK will be back week 5. He’ll need 2-3 games to shake the rust. Then, he’ll stub his toe and be out again week 10-12.

The entire DL needs to be replaced.

  36. Jerid421 Says:

I don’t think Skule is good. But, if you really watch all the sacks that are attributed to him, he is never allowing pressure to the inside, riding the DE all the way into the backfield. But because of simultaneous pressure UP THE MIDDLE, Baker has no pocket to step up into. S#*t, one time, Baker tried to scramble right and ran right into the pass rusher.

  37. Hodad Says:

Soft team. If they spent a fraction of the time playing instead of getting treatments we might have something.

  38. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

Frustrating that Kancey is not progressing quickly – for year 2 of 2. Dude – what was the major incident that caused this month long injury? Vacuuming?

  39. Biff Barker Says:

Waiting for Kancey be healthy is like waiting for Logan Hall to be useful.

  40. FortMyersDave Says:

Fred McNeil: When Goedeke was healthy, he took a lot of pressure off of Mauch. With Skule playing in his place, Mauch has been exposed and it has disrupted the whole offense. Bucs need Goedeke back to have any chance at beating Philly and that will be tough if Hurts and Barkley gouge the D for 250 yards of rushing. Plus the Philly TE will probably have a big day. Bowels better have the boyz on D better prepared than last week.

  41. FortMyersDave Says:

Good one Bill Barker. Kancey has not been a total bust yet but right now he is as useless as Hall whose only contribution as a Buc has been to end the career of Jensen…. What a waste of a draft pick and Licht did have better options available….

  42. Hodad Says:

If Mauch needs Goedeke to be effective, and JTS, YaYa need Vea, and Kancey back before they can get a sack, they’re not very good. Broncos started a rookie tackle, their Oline didn’t miss a beat, didn’t give up one sack. We start a vet backup RT, and fall apart across the board? That tells me we’re mentally weak, and our players just aren’t very good.

  43. FortMyersDave Says:

I agree with you Hodad and will add one more thought. Yaya was supposed to have a field day against that rookie undrafted O, yet he was a ghost on Sunday. Yaya may have read too many of the articles about him being ” created in a lab” and being ready to take the next step and get 10 plus sacks. Instead he regressed and is simply a JAG. At least the Bucs did not waste a first rounder on him like they did Kancey and JTS as well as pick 33 overall on that worthless sieve Hall. If the Bucs had depth they would not be getting boat raced in the trenches.

  44. Crickett Baker Says:

“Useless as an ashtray on a Harley..” That was pretty funny. I bet Joe is jealous he didn’t think of that. LOL

  45. The Fighting Schianoes Says:

    Hey TF,

You Donald Trump or something? You just say things and that makes them true? Go to bed.

Mike Evens has missed WAY MORE than 4-5 games over a 10 year career. I am not going to look up the exact number because your comment proves you pulled it out of your a$$ and ran with it.

    Bless your heart.

  46. Booger Says:

So, supposedly, Cancey does all of these hardcore preseason workouts on the beach in Miami everyday, & never gets hurt… But, as soon as the season is set to begin, HURT. Unbelievable. If his CALF was never completely HEALED from last season, then WTF is he doing with all this cross-fit juditzu-training BS he’s doing in Miami!?:/

  47. BucU Says:

The paper tiger had injured the OTHER calf this time. So he’s got 2 bad wheels.
He’s a massive bust. While the rest of the team is fighting every day to get better this chump Kancey has been on the couch lounging for more than a month.
He’s a bum and should mocked accordingly.

  48. TF Says:

“7” total to be exact. Great counting skills. 4 seasons he missed ONE GAME AND 2 season 3. What is your problem? That’s an TON. And why bring Politics into a sports forum. I don’t give a $hit who you support but you are EXACTLY what’s wrong with this country. $ukinnn $ool.
