Laughing At Bo Nix

September 21st, 2024

The Bucs host a reeling rookie QB tomorrow.

Yes, Joe was somewhat scarred from watching both Broncos games this season with rookie quarterback Bo Nix.

Per a seasoned NFL reporter at Sunday’s Broncos-Steelers game, Nix was so bad that Steelers players were laughing at the Denver offense.

James Palmer covered the Buccaneers for NFL Network and was a personality/reporter for the NFL’s in-house network until he got booted in recent layoffs.

Palmer landed in Denver and now reports on the NFL for a few different outlets.

He hopped on former Pro Bowl receiver Steve Smith’s ’89’ podcast Wednesday and dropped this gem about the sorry and sad Broncos offense — which will face the Bucs tomorrow at 1 p.m.

“I was just in the Steelers’ locker room going against a rookie in Bo Nix in his second NFL start. I’m talking to the Steelers corners and they’re sitting there laughing in the corner going, ‘We knew the playbook was this big,’” Palmer said, holding up two fingers close together to represent a thin playbook.

“’We know they weren’t going to take any shots, and we know what he likes to do. They’re going to make it easy on him to go here and here, and that’s all we had to worry about.’”

So there you have it, the Bucs and defensive mastermind Todd Bowles will face an offense that’s so bad it’s getting laughed at publicly by NFL defensive players.

That’s worse than the Lions coach bashing the Bucs’ running game on film last weekend!

What makes this Palmer revelation even more exciting for Bucs fans — and scary for Broncos fans — is that Denver is expected to scale back its playbook this Sunday because Nix needs things simplified.

Joe does not need a style-points Bucs victory tomorrow to be happy. A win is a win. But it will be midly disappointing if the Bucs can’t beat this reeling Broncos team by two scores.

Hope the Bucs put up a 50 burger!
Would be nice, but three TDs should be more than enough. –Joe

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Don’t get cocky… bear down…give them NFL respect…stomp their sorry a$$. Since Payton is there….pretend they are the greasy, slimy Saints…

  3. Rod Munch Says:

When is the last time Bowles blew someone out?

If he gets a 10 points lead in the 2nd quarter, he’s just going to try to run out the clock, which will make the game much closer than it should be.

For once I’d love to see Bowles, if he gets a lead, keep the gas pedal down and actually put a team away instead of coaching scared.

Hopefully that’s what we see tomorrow. In any case, get the W, but if you’re supposed to be a legit playoff team, one of the best in the NFC, the Bucs should be able to not just win, but to win with the starters on the sideline in the 4th quarter because the team is costing to a huge point victory.

Oh no… Goedeke is out? I haven’t kept up o the news the last few days. I thought he was back.

Are they really going to play that turd Sucke again?

Wow, that literally completely changes the way I think of this game. Sucke is so bad, he completely derails your offense. No way they put that trash player back out there again? You really can’t put Hainsey in at RT instead?

That is terrible news. No, it won’t be a Week 1 JJ Watt performance, I don’t think, but it’s going to be another 3 sack game, and completely blowing up the run game again.

Ugh… OK so this will be more like a 17-13 type of game. Damn.

  6. Lakeland Says:

In 2021, when the Bucs knocked Jameis Winston from the game. I thought the game was over for the Saints. And Trevor Siemian came into the game…..l said to my myself….this the biggest QB bust in NFL history……he sucks…..game over!

Trevor Siemian looked like the reincarnation of Johnny Unitias against the Bucs. He haven’t did crap since…. probably not in the league.

We never know, until the game is played.

  7. adam from ny Says:

yeah payton was the mastermind behind the saints for all those years…

so consider this a saints game with a saints approach…

protect you knees and watch out for tomfoolery…

and no vita…because he might just tell linemen to fall into vita’s knees from the side until there’s an issue…

vita must sit this one out

  8. Lakeland Says:

Well he wasn’t exactly a bust, because he was a 7th round draft pick. But he was one of the worst QBs l ever seen in my lifetime.

  9. adam from ny Says:

    i’n still going 30-13 bucs…

    or maybe27-13 bucs…

but i see us scoring a late td to inflate the separation…so it could be like 23-13 in the 4th, or 20-13…

so the late td causes all the separation in the score…maybe even a bo nix int taken back for a td late in the 4th!

  10. Bakerfan Says:

37 – 10. I may have adjust it if they are that bad

  11. BA’s Red Pen Says:

    Bounce Back Bucky!

  12. Rob in Land O' Lakes Says:

This game screams TRAP! Please prove me wrong, Bucs.

  13. Mr_Barf Says:

TRAP game definition..if Broncos get an whiff of successful plays..watch out

  14. Bobby M. Says:

Any given Sunday…..Payton is excellent scheming. Got to play like we’re facing the Lions.

  15. Beeej Says:

Skule couldn’t deal with all-pro Hutchinson, we’re told he should be ok against a run-of-the-mill player

  16. A Bucs Fan Says:

Sterling Shepherd got elevated from the PS! Wonder what the odds are he’ll make a play tomorrow!

  17. NCbucsfan Says:

What a time to be a Bucs fan, after suffering through the lost decade! Baker in his zone, and a defense in Bowles grove! Lovin every moment of it!

  18. Steven007 Says:

Rod, nobody wants him to start but if you look at the tape only two of those sacks are directly on him. Mauch was just as bad. Regardless, they need to pay attention and give him help if needed.

  19. D-Rok Says:

“That’s worse than the Lions coach bashing the Bucs’ running game on film last weekend!”

Until that running game produced back-to-back 11 yard runs, resulting in a TD. I think this is the Bucs secret weapon this year – nobody thinks we have ground game until 6 is scored.

Good stuff, Liam. Keep it up, but please, don’t get Mayfield killed! Save them runs for critical moments.

  20. Hail2dabucs Says:

Who is the backup left tackle joe ? Wondering if the bucs would ever entertain the idea of putting whirfs back at rt tackle for 1 game and have the backup left tackle start in his place…might be something to consider since our rt tackle last week got taken to the wood shed

  21. Crickett Baker Says:

I just hope we win and Baker doesn’t get hit so much again. He is one player that we don’t have much depth at his position. Five sacks is just way too many.

  22. D-Rok Says:

I’d really like to see Bucky as the back in the I, then White motions out for a 4 WR set with Evans wide, Palmer wide, Godwin slot R, then White motions to slot L.

Nascar package. WR’s balanced. Irving as lead back 7 yards back. Like 4 targets to pick from if the D stacks the box and audible is called for pass. And oh my – if we had an actual tight end? This O would be almost unstoppable

  23. Jack Burton Mercert Says:

I still remember a certain blog guy wanting the Bucs to draft Nix. If only I could remember that guy. Jose, do you know?
A rookie struggling early with little talent around him is no surprise. A rookie QB struggling to this degree is slightly surprising. Sorry, Joe’s not going to pretend the guy looks like an NFL QB right now. If the Bucs drafted Nix, he’d be in a very different situation sitting behind a veteran with elite receivers on the roster. Joe would have understood if the Bucs had wanted to get a piece of this draft class, but it was never realistic picking late. –Joe

  24. Winny Testaverde Says:

Beware the JoeJinx ™️…symptoms include false bravado over opponents…including struggling QBs who oftentimes have career games vs The Bucs. One example is former Bronco legend Paxton Lynch.

  25. orlbucfan Says:

    Glad Bucs didn’t draft Nix.

  26. Bucswin! Says:

Beware the cheap shot from the slimy ponies. Go BUCS!

  27. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

I wouldn’t throw rocks living in a glass house ourselves while masquerading a matador as a right tackle providing the opportunity for the broncos gifting them up to six sacks. No sir. Be humble, play hard, as a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.
Having said that, the broncos just may be the ones laughing manana. I hope that’s not the case, but on any giving Sunday…..

  28. Pittbucfan Says:

This is just a bit worrisome. We do not have the pass rush the steelers have. That kind of pass rush will make veterans look stupid. Joe, you b#tch about it. Pass rush. That a$$hole Sean Payton made us look stupid many times. Just sayin’. Please…. Go Bucs!

  29. heyjude Says:

I was never one on the bandwagon for Nix. But am not counting him out. We want the last laugh. Payton is tricky like a snake. He needs and wants this win badly. If we lead ahead and early, we need to keep it. Like others have commented, never forgot that Jameis win eating the W. However, I do remember when the Dolphins beat the Saints very badly in 2021. However, this isn’t the Saints now, it’s the Broncos. They have been struggling. The Bucs can win this. Go Bucs!

  30. unbelievable Says:

No Nix is laughing at you, Joe.

I told you all week not to overlook this team but you wouldn’t listen.

Can’t wait to hear all the excuses.

  31. Loren St. Vincent Says:

The Bucs “defense” is being laughed at. Your quarterback is a joke. Stick with playing checkers, because as a football opinionator, you’re a dumbass.
