Joe Tryon-Shoyinka Believes Bo Nix Equally Dangerous With His Legs

September 22nd, 2024

Prepared for Bo Nix’s running.

In the season-opener against the Commandos, the only real threat the Bucs had from Washington rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels was when he ran the ball.

Was that a prelude to today?

Joe spoke with Joe Tryon-Shoninka last week and he seemed to think if the Bucs just worry about Nix’s arm, his legs will burn the Bucs.

“He’s a very athletic quarterback,” JTS said of Nix. “He’s young so he’s going to be looking at [getting the ball] to his running backs, his tight end.

“[But] he extends plays. He’s very athletic.”

So is/was Daniels. He got chunks of yards on scrambles. By the second half, the Bucs clamped down on Daniels’ running and the Washington offense was basically shut down.

JTS said there were lessons learned against Washington and Daniels the Bucs hope to use today.

“We just have to do what we have done [on defense] with quarterbacks this year,” JTS said. “We have to get after [Nix] and play good defense.

“It will be a hot game in Tampa so we have to use that to our advantage and get after him.”

So what makes him so elusive? JTS said that Nix is, well, slithery.

“Yeah, he’s definitely super athletic,” JTS said. “Knows how to escape the pocket.

“He has that Russell Wilson-like spin at the top of the pocket if you are a rusher.”

Sooner of later, everything will begin to click for Nix and he’s going to upset a team for his first win. The Bucs just don’t want to be that team.

“We know how the NFL goes,” JTS said of the on-any-given-Sunday routine. “We have to prepare and have a mindset to go out there Sunday and let that sh!t loose, man.”
