Good Offensive Start: A Breakdown

September 11th, 2024

Best in red zone since Randy Moss?

Joe really enjoys former NFL offensive lineman and current NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger doing his All-22 breakdowns of teams and games.

He really liked how the Bucs came out of the gate to start the 2024 season and gave the Bucs many props. They included Baker Mayfield, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillan and the offensive line as a whole.

Baldinger had high praise for Evans. He said something Joe had to think about for a moment: Baldinger claims Evans is the best red zone receiver since Randy Moss. Now that is high praise. Very high praise. And he might be right.

Joe tried to think of other receivers since Moss played and how they were/are in the red zone. Any better than Evans? Joe isn’t sure about that.

Evans needs four more touchdown catches to tie former Bucs receiver Tim Brown and Seahawks great Steve Largent (100) for ninth all-time in touchdown catches.

    Mikey gives me the warms.

That first one had PI all over it. It truly is a wonder that Mike caught it.

Did anyone see how poorly our probowl tackle looked on mant of those lost run yard and qb pressures???

You want to be the best you got to beat the best. Starts in Detroit this Sunday. A lot of people are putting Lions in the Top 5.

Go do it to the Lions and the narrative will change automatically. These talking heads have no shame to switch boats mid stream.

  5. Citrus County Says:

After looking at spotrac it appears to be arranged for Mike Evans to be making $500k more per year on paper than Chris Godwin. Maybe I’m making too much of this but CG will likely command more than ME is making next year. My thoughts now agree with Joe and Ira. If we have a good year both will get paid and Jason will take care of ME 13.

  6. Citrus County Says:

AND, in Jason and Todd we trust. It’s probably a good thing we didn’t trade CG for an edge. This weeks game will tell us a lot.

Could watch that video clip 20 times and never tire of it. Baker is our Houdini and Evans is our ageless warrior. Love it!

Lions are gonna be a tough out with all our injuries on defense.

Offense is gonna need to put up at least 33 points.

Comparing M1k3 to HOF WRs …

Randy Moss + Cris Carter = Mike Evans

The common phrase the last 3 years of Cris Carter’s career was, “All he does is catch TDs.”

  10. unbelievable Says:

96 TDs for Mike in the regular season + 5 more in the playoffs I believe?

    STUD.

I was the first to say he is HOF bound in his 3rd year. I have watched everyone of his games and virtually all the games since that first win in 1977. Go Mike!!! Chasing history!!!

  12. Ed Says:

Mike continues to produce and is a class act. Certainly the greatest Buccaneer offensive player since the franchise was founded. If he has another season like last year and continues it into 2025 he is 100% first ballot Hall of Famer when he does retire.

I’m hoping he stays healthy and plays out this contract before contemplating retirement or continuing to play once he passes 34 years of age.

He’ll really have nothing to prove at that point so enjoy his game now while he is still in his prime.

  13. StickinUp4Centers Says:

Not technically a receiver, but Gronk was a pretty dominant redzone threat. Imagine having Gronk and ME13 on the same team. They’d probably win a Super Bowl.

  14. Bojim Says:

Mike seems to make it look easy. He’s a Buc!!

  15. Bojim Says:

    Mike is on another level.
