Gashed On The Ground

September 22nd, 2024

Missing and missed.

The Bucs had a ton of issues today in their blowout loss to the Broncos, 26-7, but Joe really felt the loss of manbeast defensive tackle Vita Vea.

The Bucs were punished on the ground. When Broncos running back Tyler Badie rumbled for 43 yards up the gut in the fourth quarter on first down, the game was still in reach. But that play slammed the door, at least in Joe’s mind. Denver milked the clock from there and set up for a field goal that gave the Broncos a three-score lead with 7:30 remaining. Ballgame.

Vea also wasn’t there to fluster rookie QB Bo Nix in his face and set up Bucs edge rushers, which went sackless.

Nix had a much easier time stepping up, Joe believes, and his confidence grew through the game. Joe thinks Vea’s absence was a big part of that, combined with the Bucs blitzes not getting through and too much soft coverage in the secondary.

Vea is nursing a sprained knee (MCL).

Come back soon, Vita!

We all know they the missed OPI on the first play broke the backs of the defenders and they couldn’t play the game they wanted. Remember the Mariota Titans game

  2. Bucfanforever Says:

Giving up unlimited yards to the other team doesn’t always play out like it did last week.

  3. HC Grover Says:

Not enough lipstick to put on this Pig.

  4. RagingBrisket Says:

The oline and dline are simply awful. Defense is definitely missing Vea and Kancey but it’s no excuse.
    Bucs look like pretenders.

  5. HC Grover Says:

Dalton scores 7 on 1st drive.

  6. Bubby Says:

Sorry, VV would not have made any difference today. Absolutely pathetic.

  7. Bucfan Says:

Payton has had easy times against Bowles. One of the worst games in a long times. Thanks Todd for having the team prepared to play.

  8. Rod Munch Says:

You’re missing your three best defensive players, in Winfield, Vita and Kancey — you need your offense to show-up and do their job, they did not.

  9. August1976Buc Says:

Football is not complicated, win the line of scrimmage and you win most games, the Broncos owned the the line of scrimmage, on both sides of the ball. Period, end of story.

    Go Bucs!

  10. Bucs4Ever Says:

Dude plays how many snaps a game?

    60% 50%

Licht has two awful lines. He owns it.

  11. Bucsalltheway Says:

Called it…denvers defense is the reason why Russell Wilson got the boot…you know how many games they was in last year with poor qb play they game planned us good thanks to Sean being familiar with what bowles trots out in. Bowles is hard headed though why continue to blitz when you are constantly getting beat..

  12. Adam’s Angry Says:

That was arguably the most pathetic performance I’ve ever seen from the Buccaneers since Greg Schiano and Lovie Smith were head coaches.

An unbelievably despicable performance worthy of being fired on the spot. A rookie quarterback, on the road, in heat 30° hotter than where he currently resides. A man literally who is telling the public that he was taking sex based on nonexistent, defensive lineman. And you got beat by double digits.

I question your manhood. I literally question whether or not the people taking the field qualify as XY chromosomes. A disgusting, pathetic, limp, wristed, performance, worthy of people who were fans of the acolyte and echo on Disney+

  13. Bucsalltheway Says:

The real issue is goedke being injured when he returns we will return same with vita and Winfield

  14. Bucs4Ever Says:

@ Joe – can we keep the bigots off the site aka Adam the flaming bigot?

  15. Hodad Says:

Joe, the Bucs were punished period. On the land, and from the sea. Couldn’t pass block, couldn’t pass rush, and that’s a problem. YaYa wears #0, the same number of sacks he has thru 3 games! JTS has one! Bust, and bust. Dennis blew chunks today, bust. Kancey can’t get on the field, bust. Mauch was abused again, bust. Adding weight didn’t help, bust. Britt isn’t a good back up, David is past prime, anybody hear Hall’s name called, bust! Looks like those great Licht drafts are losing their luster.

  16. Bucs4Ever Says:

@Joe – Adam and the ban hammer

  17. Mike Johnson Says:

The rookie Nix had all the time in the wold in the 1st half. There was no pressure at all. He was making sandwiches back there to order. It was like, Hey, they are 0-2, we got nothin to worry about. Denver gave us a good ole fashioned A.. Whippin guys. And they did it on our turf. Congrats to them.

  18. unbelievable Says:

We have zero sacks this season, is that correct?

TRADE FOR A GODDAMN EDGE RUSHER OR STOP PRETENDING YOU HAVE SUPER BOWL ASPIRATIONS

  19. Rod Munch Says:

unbelievable – What makes you think Bowles would actually use a pass rusher as a pass rusher and not just have them sit back in a soft zone all day?

  20. NaplesBucsFan Says:

I call BS on the injury sh!t…hello we were the walking dead last week and somehow stopped a much bigger quality opponent. So, F that excuse…these boys were just pathetic today and I’m concerned about our team moving forward. I don’t see them turning it around against a decent opponent next week that held the highest scoring offense to just 12.

  21. DoooshLaRue Says:

VV might have made a little bit of a difference but overall he’s overrated IMO.
Good to very good at times, but not consistently great and often injured or limited.
I think this is his last year as a Buc.

  22. Bucfan1988 Says:

Unbelievable, we have 2 sacks in 3 games….

    Feels like zero though…

  23. Lakeland Says:

This was a good ole fashioned butt whooping

The Broncos took them to the wood shed

    And whup that butt

No need to be shamed, it happens to the best

  24. rfdes Says:

No doubt, the game with Vea would have been totally different. Sure, I’m believe that BS.

  25. HC Grover Says:

Agree with Adam Angry. I do not think they come back from this. Lucky if get 3 or 4 wins.

  26. Trask To The Future Says:

NEVER FORGET: Mayfield had only *87* passing yards when we were in the 4th quarter down by 16 and they went to a Prevent defense.

NO MORE OVERLOOKING STAT-PADDING FOR BAKER

  27. Rayjay1122 Says:

Is there crying in football after week 3 coach?

  28. 1sparkybuc Says:

Well I guess the SB is out of the question now. Mike Evans shut down for the second week in a row. Mayfield can’t do much. If we can beat Denver, who can we beat? Between injuries and questionable coaching, it really doesn’t look promising. I need a nap.

  29. Lakeland Says:

They should take their licks and move on from, learn from it. I’ve said it a thousand times, games are won on the field, not in the media

  30. Pelsbuc61 Says:

Back to reality Bucs fans. Bowles reminds us he’s not a good coach. To have his team play like that at home to a bottom feeder team is inexcusable!

  31. adam from ny Says:

hopefully the bulk of our injured guys can get back in the mix vs the eagles…we really need them…

and if we finish out the first quarter of the season 3-1 we’re doing really well, considering detroit and philly are in that portion of the schedule…

just win sunday, move to 3-1 and we are all good

  32. Lakeland Says:

    Yesterday,

    It was Mayfield MVP
    Bowles great coach
Licht best GM in the business

    After one pathetic loss

It’s get rid of them all, clean house

  33. Lakeland Says:

Bucs fans will turn on you at the drop of a dime

  34. EssexBuccaneer Says:

    Laughable fanbase

  35. Citrus County Says:

The players didn’t play and the coaches didn’t coach. It all falls on Todd Bowles. I have changed my opinion on Bowles so many times and given him the benefit of the doubt so many times but no more. The players and coaches have shown what they are capable of doing. A couple of weeks ago I said we need to see some passion from Bowles. Soon afterward he shows up at the podium and says “I’m excited !”. This team lacks consistent focus and motivation. They showed no desire to win this game today. We have the talent but we don’t have the coaching.

  36. Adam’s Angry Says:

    Sorry Bucs4Ever.

I’ll just leave it at that because any comment is low hanging fruit.

  37. unbelievable Says:

Haha Rod that’s a fair point.

@1988 – thank you for the correction. I genuinely couldn’t remember. Feels like opposing QBs have had time to order takeout and take a nap before we get to them.

  38. Citrus County Says:

The old saying “Don’t get too high and don’t get too low” should no longer apply. Sometimes the steady even temperament doesn’t work. If Bowles shows up with an even temperament tomorrow there’s a problem. Someone needs to put on their reading glasses and read the riot act to the entire team.

  39. Canabuc Says:

No doubt this was an embarrassing performance by the team. Especially after how they played up to a great opponent last week when playing quite short-handed.

I think regardless of anybody said that they were not adequately prepared and they didn’t really adjust after Denver came out firing in the first quarter.

I will give the team a pass this one time because there are things that I like about this team and I can tell that missing a key anchor at right tackle has made the entire line week because it is only as strong as its weakest link.

And not having there and can’t see up there gives the defense a lot more opportunity to protect the quarterback when we don’t have the horses at edge rusher to cause much damage.

Remember we are missing four very important starters that are not really replaceable on this team.
3 on defense and a right taco. Unfortunately those are not the areas where we have sufficient depth particularly on the offensive end defensive lines.

We are very lucky in past seasons with injury. So we need these guys to get healthy or we need to sign some free agents at key positions on the line for depth.

  40. Bucs4Ever Says:

@ Adam – Apology not accepted. Keep your trailer trash comments to yourself. Thanks, everyone.

  41. Adam’s Angry Says:

Like I said. Low hanging fruit.

  42. Bucs'n'Bucks Says:

Could’ve been worse. We could have easily lost to the Panthers.🤷🤦

  43. Esteban85 Says:

Vita Vea is the lynchpin of this 3-4 Todd Bowels defense. Without him our defense is as soft as silly puddy.

  44. Esteban85 Says:

Anyone commenting on here asking someone else to get banned for their comments needs to grow a pair or stop reading the comments. If you get triggered by someone else’s opinion then mind your own business. We are all frustrated at the Bucs sorry performance but asking Joe to ban someone for their comments is mega beta and not in the spirit of this site.

  45. Alstott40 Says:

Bunch of cry baby fans on this site for sure
