Chris Simms, Adam Schein Say Bucs Will Miss The Playoffs

September 4th, 2024

“Hey Simms, you can intern for my new YouTube channel.”

Joe is sort of an unofficial receipt keeper this year for Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht.

More than in past offseasons, Joe has been documenting here the season projections of popular NFL analysts.

The psychologist on Joe’s payroll came to visit JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters yesterday and Joe explored the new obsession. It was an easy conclusion after Joe ruled out the lingering trauma of home Bucs games being blacked out from local television 15 or so years ago.

Why is Joe obsessed? It’s because Joe cannot comprehend the popular madness doctrine that says healing Kirk Cousins will come to a Falcons rebuilding project with a highly unproven coaching staff and win the NFC South over the Bucs with ease.

It’s full-blown lunacy.

Yesterday, former Bucs quarterback Chris Simms, the standout NBC Sports analyst, jumped on the Cousins-Raheem Morris bandwagon. He picked Atlanta to win the division and for the Bucs to miss the playoffs.

SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio star Adam Schein, an NFL.com writer and a hardcore Lavonte David fan, joined Simms on the Atlanta bandwagon today. Schein was slobbering all over the Falcons on his national show and also eliminated the Bucs from the postseason picture.

Per Schein, the Bucs will be “in that 8-, 9-win range.”

Sunday can’t get here soon enough.

Not picking the Bucs to make the playoffs is unacceptable, @CSimmsQB.

    THE FUNNY THING IS …
Atlanta is following the same script as the 2020 Bucs. Productive vet QB, loaded with roll players, two higher profile defensive vets, charismatic SB winning coach.

    THE PROBLEM IS …
    >Cousins isn’t TB12.
    >The defensive players aren’t JPP and Suh.
    >Rah isn’t Arians.

Tom Brady — he ain’t no Kirk Cousins — had far better weapons with the Bucs than Atlanta has. Joe will put Mike Evans, Rob Gronkowski and Chris Godwin against any three skill players Atlanta has (Antonio Brown didn’t come until later).

And still Brady — Tom Brady — struggled out of the gate.

Cousins had better talent in Minnesota than Atlanta has. He didn’t win squat there. When healthy!

Atlanta may be using the Bucs’ “script” but the writers are low-rung cops beat reporters from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

  3. Dave Pear Says:

    Beat Washington on Sunday.

Gotta be 1-0 going into week 2.

  4. Anderson Says:

The media is making it seem like cousins is 5 time super bowl champ the way they are picking the falcons.

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We will learn a great deal about our team Sunday ….we must win the games we should win & this is one of them…

    Nothing else matters.

  7. Pewter Power Says:

It’s weird so because they think the Falcons are a playoff team they dump on the Bucs because of course it’s the nfc south so it’s only possible for one team to be good

  8. Beeej Says:

By the time we played Detroit in the playoffs, I’d have bet on the Bucs being able to beat any team in the league, and they’ve since fixed two of the three deficiencies

  9. Hodad Says:

We play all the top teams this season, and Atlanta twice. Win, and make them all eat their words. It’s in the teams hands to write their story. Bucs win the Super Bowl Mayfield wins S.B. MVP? That would shut them up. It’s up to them. Do they have it in them? I believe, do you? This team stays healthy, they’ll compete with anybody. Time to prove it in the dirt, games aren’t won in the media.

IT’S PUFF, PUFF THEN PASS humphrey

  11. Lightningvinny Says:

Look , you don’t get 90-1 to win the SB if you are a favorite!! You got to prove it each week,,, win week 1 and go from there ,, heck score on the first drive!!
    I like my 90-1 bet ,,,, I also liked my 60-1 bet in 2020!!!
That was a fun Vegas cash out at the Superbook!

  12. BA’s Red Pen Says:

Chris Simms, you got some spleening to do!

  13. Saskbucs Says:

Correct Beej. Our 2 remaining holes are edge and game management. Hopefully Bowles has a great year.

  14. Lowest Common Denominator Says:

The bull case for the Falcons is quite easy to understand.

It’s not based on the fact that Kirk Cousins is Tom Brady or that Atlanta’s weapons are better than the Vikings weapons.

It’s simply that the Falcons were a competitive team last year despite the QB play of Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke being dreadfully bad. So with the addition of a bonafide top 10 QB, which is what Cousins is if healthy, the Falcons should be contender.

You’re also severely downplaying the coaching staff stuff, and they have an easier schedule than the Bucs.

Is the media overhyping the Falcons? Yes. But is it ridiculous to think the falcons can win the division? Not at all.

  15. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

Cousins is a “bonfafide top 10 qb”?

I would like to see your list and see who you got at 11.

  16. Lowest Common Denominator Says:

Before going down with a Torn Achilles Kirk Cousin was averaging 291.4 yards per game which would have been good for 1st. He was 9th in yards per attempt and 6th in adjusted yards per attempt, 4th in TD% and 25th in INT % with a 3.3-1 TD-Int ratio.

So regardless of what you may or may not believe, Kirk was a top 10 QB last year.

  17. Lightningvinny Says:

Well we did pump them at their crib

  18. Lightningvinny Says:

    Cousins that is

  19. Lowest Common Denominator Says:

As for my list it would have to be something like this.

    1. Patrick Mahomes.
    2. Josh Allen
    3. Lamar Jackson
    4. Joe Burrow
    5. Jalen Hurts
    6. CJ Stroud
    7. Jordan Love
    8. Dak Prescott
    9. Justin Herbert
    10. Kirk Cousins
    11. Aaron Rodgers
    12. Jared Goff
    13. Trevor Lawrence
    14. Matthew Stafford
    15. Baker Mayfield

Right now the Bucs are undefeated and life is good. I’m going to enjoy it!

There’ll be plenty of time to gripe if the Bucs lay an egg on Sunday.
