Chris Godwin Ranks No. 2 In Catch Percentage

September 17th, 2024

Looking at a big 2024 season.

Chris Godwin may not be perfect. But through two games of the 2024 season, he’s damn close.

Per NextGen Stats, the NFL-owned outfit that tracks everything using sensors in players’ equipment, the football and other areas, seven players have caught every ball they have been targeted with in the 2024 season.

Godwin is not among them. But he has the highest catch percentage of every other would-be receiver.

Per NextGen Stats, Godwin has hauled in 93.75 percent of his targets. These are not “catchable” targets, just good old-fashioned targets.

Any wonder why Baker Mayfield, and before him, stress-inducer Tom Brady loved throwing to Godwin?

So far through these two games, Joe believes Godwin is back to his former self. He’s healthy, he’s back at slot, and he’s dominating just like Godwin used to do.

  1. Dave Pear Says:

Coen needs to fix the multiple instances of two receivers running basically the same route. He, Bake, and the Eligibles.

  2. BuckyBuc Says:

pretty sure baker made the adjustment and one of the WRs made a mistake leading to both of them running the same route

  3. Lakeland Says:

Rachad White catch ratio is 100% this season. His career catch ratio is 90%. He need more screens passes, it’s as simple as that!!

  4. A Bucs Fan Says:

Buckybuc – you are correct. The play changed and there was miscommunication between the receivers.

  5. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

If Chris Godwin keeps this up, he’s going to play his way out from being a Buc next year. We’re not going to afford him if he doesn’t slow down.

  6. Pelsbuc61 Says:

Godwin has always been more clutch and sure handed than Evans.

  7. Fred McNeil Says:

As far as route confusion, it’s still early. Cris has been unbelievable. I don’t recall him dropping any catchable balls at all. I sure hope we can keep him this spring. JMac needs to marinade and Palmer is unreliable. Otton is on my milk carton. If I see him I’ll let ya know…

    Godwin is Amazing.

So, the stinkin panthers minor league team is wanting to trade for track lol

  9. Simeon4HOF Says:

Carolina wants trask now is the word up there today

    Godwin = 1st downs

Whoever makes the “In Godwin We Trust” t-shirt has their first order with me.

    Please.

@pelsbuc61 You are absolutely right I’m always saying this and I don’t know what the sheeple are watching to think differently. Godwin also doesn’t have to come off of the field every other play because of a little contact.

  13. JimBobBuc Says:

Keep throwing to him until he’s doubled. ME13 already has a drop but he’ll bounce back, maybe in the playoffs.

  14. orlbucfan Says:

What’s with the Panthers and Trask rumor? Link? Aren’t the Bucs getting out from under the cap squeeze? Licht is very aware that CG14 has teams sniffing around again.

  15. Dave Pear Says:

orlbuc, I think the Trask to panthers thing is some poking at the few fanatics who are convinced he is the next Dan Marino.

  16. orlbucfan Says:

Thanks Dave. I figured it had to be some sort of hot air coming out of left field. Man, Tepper ( I think that’s how the owner spells his name) is really screwing up that team.

  17. BigPoppaBuc Says:

I saw the same Pear… We’ve gotten away with it but that kind of thing usually results in Interceptions.

  18. HC Grover Says:

NOOOOO we keep Trask. Canales can keep his Carolina shrimp.

  19. Cometowin2 Says:

No way we trade Trask with how Mayfield plays. Sign Chris to the same contract that Mike gets. 1A and 1B. Get it done Jason!

Incorrect, Evans has been the most consistent reliable offensive player in Buc history. That’s clutch. Love Godwin but Evans is still better, just glad they’re both on our team.

  21. MikethegoatEvans Says:

So you’re gonna knock the best offensive player in Buc history because he steps off a play time to time… I’ve seen Godwin do it plenty in games as well. It’s what a lot of receivers do and to be fair Evans and Godwin play the most snaps possible their both warriors but don’t forget who’s the goat

  22. GoneGator Says:

Mike has a bigger catch radius and is a bigger target, but Chris has the best hands on the team…. some of the best in the league.

If he can get his hands on it he’s going to catch it!

  23. Cometowin2 Says:

How great to have the two best Buccaneer WRs of all time playing at the SAME time. We are blessed!

  24. BucU Says:

    Godwin = A pro’s pro.
