Chris Godwin Dwarfs Teammates In Targets

September 27th, 2024

Baker Mayfield’s new favorite?

Once Sunday’s game against the Eagles is finished, Joe will cease referring to it being “early” in the season as some 23 percent of the season will have been played (hard to believe already, right?).

So far, it’s clear Baker Mayfield has a favorite target this year. And that man is Chris Godwin.

Sam Hoppen of Fantasy Pros logged each receiving target for every NFL team. And Godwin has nearly double the targets of Mike Evans. Rachaad White is third.

Godwin has 31.6 percent of Mayfield’s targets, versus 18.4 percent for Evans. White has 15.8.

In fact, only three NFL receivers have a higher percentage of their quarterbacks’ targets than Godwin. That would be Malik Nabers, Rashee Rice and Amon-Ra St. Brown.

The way Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen talked yesterday, it seems he would like to see Evans’ targets increase.

It’s multi factors Ed problem as Liam Coen has stated multiple times Godwin is in the Kupp role and he has never had a a true X receiver like Mike. He’s learning how to use him properly.

At the same time Baker was under lots of pressure the past two weeks and when he had time against the broncos he didn’t pull the trigger fast enough.

Liam Coen play calling don’t make sense to me. He has the weapons, just not using them.
