Bucs Injury List Changes; Eagles Stars Are Out

September 26th, 2024

Good news and bad news in the Buccaneers’ injury report.

Center Graham Barton fully participated today after being limited yesterday on a wounded ankle. However, a new ankle injury appeared, and defensive tackle Greg Gaines was the unlucky player. It’s unclear when Gaines got hurt. He was limited today.

Right tackle Luke Goedeke (concussion) was a full participant today after being limited yesterday. That’s a great sign that he could be ready for Sunday. Goedeke hasn’t played since Week 1 and the results have been catastrophic.

As Joe noted earlier, rookie running back sensation Bucky Irving rested a tweaked hamstring today.

Nothing on new on Antoine Winfield Jr. (ankle), Vita Vea (knee) and Calijah Kancey (calf). Of the three defensive standouts, only Vea has practiced this week, and he’s been limited.

Tristan Wirfs (knee), Mike Evans (knee) and Chris Godwin (neck) have been limited all week.

The positive news is that Eagles star receivers A.J. Brown (hamstring) and Devonta Smith (concussion) have not practiced all week, neither has Pro Bowl right tackle Lane Johnson (concussion).

    Bucs win 31-24

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We need a healthy Vita Vea and Ali Marpet….

  3. Lakeland Says:

    One thing for sure,

The Bucs gonna need more than 7 points to win

  4. BillyBucco Says:

I think our skill players play and theirs don’t. O Line will give enough time this week to score 20+. Not sure how they get there unless Dean gives up 22 passes underneath like last week. Concussions will hurt them this week as it hurt us for 2 weeks. If Vea plays we might actually double our sack production from all year if Lane is out.

  5. Gbobucsfan Says:

Eagles stars out had me thinking they already said they won’t play…..dangit.

  6. Dom Says:

This team needs that mini bye week after the Thursday Night Falcons game. Been getting decimated by the injury bug

  7. Pink Says:

Wear the guardian cap next time Luke, we need you!

  8. Defense Rules Says:

If Vea is still out Sunday, along with Kancey, AND Gaines is playing on a wounded ankle, we’ve got BIG problems. How do you stop Barkley & Hurts with nothing but 2nd-stringers up-front?

Eagles are the #3 rushing team in the league, and they’ve run for over 500 yards total against 3 VERY good teams, sporting a 5.0 YPC average in the process. And they’ve only run 2 guys: Barkley (351 yards … 5.6 YPC) and Hurts (143 yards … 4.2 YPC). Oh and for good measure, Barkley is 10-for-11 catching the ball, so that adds a whole additional dimension to contend with.

  9. HC Grover Says:

Do not practice. They may hurt themselves.

  10. Pelsbuc61 Says:

Kalijah “can’t see” the field is rapidly approaching mega bust status. Another Licht Dline draft failure. Hurts and Barkley are going to run wild Sunday. For all those who want to put Licht in the ring of honor, better think twice. We’re starting to see his picks without the benefit of Brady and they are similar to before Brady. In other words, not good!

  11. Lakeland Says:

Jason Licht doesn’t deserve to be in a Ring Of Honor. He will NEVER be the GM Rich McKay was for the Bucs.

  12. Badbucs Says:

But, but, but we have Hall and Britt. And we all love each other. And if we have bad practice we play better. Nothing to fear…..

  13. A Bucs Fan Says:

The Bucs Dline depth is in shambles. Eagles don’t need recievers. They might run for 300 yards this weekend.

  14. WiseCrack Says:

If the picture of Luke could talk. The Baker Shaker Club would have it posterized and waving at everyone who didnt care.

Sorry Luke, thanks to JBF, you just became the poster child for the Bake gang. BAKER can’t COOK without you….. (until it’s your fault he had a bad game again).

    LOL, get it????

Cause his name is baker… He cooks other teams…. In the oven obviously,
cause that is how you Bake things…. So, it’s not a joke about the holocaust. It’s a play on words cause his name is Baker and everyone likes his baked goods.

NEWS FLASH, there are other ways to COOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

    LOL,

    I trust you!!!!!!!!!! Very good!!!!!!!!!

  18. Tbbucs3 Says:

Watching Giants game reminded me…whats going on w Sterling Sheppard? Is he even on the team anymore?

  19. Tbbucs3 Says:

Also watching the Giants game has reminded me that going from Rakeem Nunez Roaches to undersized Greg Gaines has been a significant downgrade for DT depth.

Roaches was awesome at stopping the run, Gaines is slow, undersized, injury prone and doesnt do anything.

  20. Joe in Michigan Says:

Ah, I think with all of the exclamation points that WiseCrack has, we now know what Realisto’s new name is.

  21. Hearty Dikerson Says:

How tf do our players keep getting injured in walk-throughs and these cupcake underwear practices?! This team a pathetic.

Greg Gaines might be the most overpaid player in the NFL

  22. Permanently Moderated Says:

Kudos to the strength and conditioning coaches and Todd for getting the team into game shape. Ankle injuries out the wazoo.

  23. Cobraboy Says:

In 1.25 seasons, how many games has kancey played, and how many has he been hurt?

  24. GoneGator Says:

    @WiseCrack

R U Ok fella, for real?

  25. Kenton Smith Says:

Lane Johnson Oklahoma high school QB. Oklahoma University tight end. Kept growing. Oklahoma University offensive tackle. 5 time pro bowl tackle. Probably the best overall player on the Eagles. Dominant. He probably won’t play. That’s better news for us than them losing their WRs. Less time for Hurts to throw and less success for Barkley running the ball. Remember Hurts is not a running QB. He only looks like one. Not very fast. Nothing like Allen or Jackson or Daniels. We gave up 82 yards rushing to Daniels. So we’ve seen a better running QB. Get Vita back and stuff Barkley. Hurts pressured a little ( no Johnson) and then throwing to backup receivers. Cover the tight end. I watched Hurts and Mayfield play at OU. Mayfield is better. If our offense gets it together at all we win by 10. Easy.

  26. Tbbucs3 Says:

The Bucs need to hire a hamstring coach….we must lead the NFL in tweaked hamstrings over the last decade

  27. Kenton Smith Says:

Oh crap. Just read Lane Johnson may play Sunday. That’s ok we want to play teams at their best and hate to see anyone injured. If we have Vita back and the offense can play like I know they can we still win by 10. But if Johnson plays it won’t be so easy.

  28. richbucsfan Says:

Bucs record on September 29: 2-2

  29. David Says:

They desperately need Vea, Kancey, and Winfield back in D.
Who would have thought two years ago we’d be anxiously awaiting Goedeke‘s return?

  30. Dave Pear Says:

At least Todd can keep it close against a rookie QB generally regarded as the worst in the NFL.

    Oh, wait.

  31. DoooshLaRue Says:

Lakeland is not very intelligent…………like most people from Poke county.

  32. adam from ny Says:

the o-line needs the glass eater back so badly…

    bring back the bully !

  33. Larrd Says:

I am beginning to think I have been irrationally exuberant in regard to Kancey, Diaby, and the defense overall. Same with OL.

  34. ManzielMadness Says:

One loss and all the idiots come out in droves. That’s the NFL for ya, fans overreact each week lol

  35. Sacker58 Says:

Does this team have a training staff, what’s up with all these injuries.
As far as kancey is concerned a young dude with an injury this early in his career ,two years in a row? Maybe take better care of his body in the off season .The best ability is availability! So far in two years has been out for around eight or nine games.
Was this also a problem in college?
