Bucs, Eagles Offenses Going In The Wrong Direction

So the Bucs scored 37 points on opening day. That total dropped to 20 in Week 2 and a paltry 7 against a sad Broncos team on Sunday.
The Eagles? They’ve posted 34, 21 and 15 points, respectively, in their three games. Philadelphia, however, has racked up the second-most yards in the NFL. The Bucs rank 25th in that category.
The Eagles have new and significant injuries on offense to star receiver DeVonta Smith and All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson, plus No. 1 receiver A.J. Brown hasn’t played since Week 1 (hamstring); The Bucs might be at full strength offensively on Sunday, if right tackle Luke Goedeke stays on track with his concussion recovery.
Without factoring in the possibility and luck of turnovers, it’s hard to imagine the Eagles being able to score 21 points on the Bucs.
While breaking down the Bucs-Eagles game, Bucs-friendly Pat Kirwan, the former scout and linebackers coach who is a Todd Bowles friend and supporter, told his SiriusXM NFL Radio audience how concerned he is about the Eagles offense “going in the wrong direction.”
Kirwan honed in on Eagles QB Jalen Hurts throwing four picks and fumbling three times, in addition to the team’s new issues scoring points.
But Kirwan added that the Bucs’ anemic pass rush could give Philly’s offense new life.

A non-corpse at right tackle will do wonders for the offense.
The defense? It doesn’t rule. Last Sunday once again the keystone cops and their missed assignments were in view for all to behold.
Bucs need a 30 burger to have a chance, meanwhile expect the defense to allow 30.

Three games is not enough to draw any conclusions. September is basically training camp for a lot of teams. Plenty of football to be played.
We have major injuries across the board. But all of them should be back at some point soon. Most of the issues the team is facing right now are directly related to this.
We’re 2-1. So what if we lost to the Broncos? Sean Payton has been scouting this team for years. He has the book on Mike Evans. Even when we had Brady he kinda owned us.
People need to calm down. Come back mid-October and tell me if I should be panicking

I really wish you hadn’t penned that Joe. It’s hard for me to imagine the Eagles NOT scoring at least 3 TDs against this wounded defense. I’ll be very surprised if Philly doesn’t run on at least two-thirds of their plays. Our once-proud Bucs’ defense is currently ranked #25 against the run. It lacks beef, is playing with a bunch of backups, and an RB like Barkley SHOULD chew it up.
And even if we hold them to 21 points, what are the odds that our offense can score 22 points to win? Looking at our last 2 games, I’d say it’s not far above zero. Our only chance IMO is to get the running game untracked. Since Eagles are currrently ranked #24 against the run, our offense SHOULD be able to get the running game back going. And if they do, that bodes well for our passing game also. Perfectly happy seeing us as underdogs though.

The Eagles only scored 15 points against the Saints
But they racked up 470 yards of offense, kept the Saints offense off the field, while resting their defense…

There can be no doubt that O line play has been bad. Both guards are underwhelming and having Geodke out has really hurt. Really disappointed that Cody Mauch has shown little improvement. Looks like Barton Graham will develop into a quality Center. Not sure what is wrong with Tristan Wirfs but he too looks way off this year. Need to find solutions fast.

If the defense lays down like it did last week, the Eagles will have no problem scoring 21 points. I realize it’s early in the season, but right about the time we’re taken seriously, we stink up the joint.

Lakeland … Saints have the #5 ranked defense right now, only having given up 44 total points in 3 games. And even though their offense only scored 12 points against the Eagles, it’s still ranked #2, and has scored 103 total points in 3 games.
IOw, Bucs have their work cut out for them if we want to repeat as NFC South champions. The Saints are for real, and so are the Falcons. Heck even the Panthers came alive this past weekend. This’ll be a dogfight to the end of the season. We’d best get healthy FAST. Might be worth looking at a trade or two also.

I expect the Bucs to soon be 2 and 4. Week one was an illusion. Too many holes and these coaches are struggling. I’m not confident we can beat out Carolina for third place in the division. Mayfield isn’t good enough to carry this team, and I’m afraid Mike Evans’ streak is over. He’s been invisible two weeks in a row.
