Vita Vea Ready For Regular Season

August 23rd, 2024

Vita Vea is him.

No, Joe’s not sold on the Bucs’ edge rush. Joe has to see it in the regular season to believe in it. Call Joe a burning bush kinda guy.

(Please don’t get Joe started how the Bears traded for a backup outside linebacker yesterday morning who has 30 percent more sacks the past three years than Joe Tryon-Shoyinka — for a friggin’ sixth-round pick.)

So when hope trumps documented production, the best thing that can happen for the Bucs’ edge rush is a monster inside game. And Vita Vea is him.

Did you see Vea tonight absolutely destroy Miami center Jack Driscoll allowing Vi Jones to blast through and drop Jaylen Wright for a one-yard loss forcing a punt?

Vea looked like he was playing against a high school center. He bull-rushed him back so far it was beautiful.

How important is Vea? When he returned from a fractured foot in 2020 to play against Green Bay in the NFC title game, Green Bay had to keep an extra blocker inside to contain him and it allowed Shaq Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul to go wilding.

Same thing happened against Kansas City in the Super Bowl.

Joe could argue the Bucs don’t win the Super Bowl if Vea didn’t come back from an injury.

If the Bucs are going to have any sort of an edge rush this season, Vea needs to be on the field. And not just part-time.

Yep, need him out there beasting for 80% of the game. Kancey was gonna be late but he smoked his guy on a pull rip move, if run went left instead of right CK was gonna eat. Bucs D looked ready for contact tonight. I know they were playing backups but guys were looking to lay wood. Good finish by Braswell on his free run. That Miami RT … yikes.

Wonder what Brian Baldiner thinks of that.

I laughed out loud on that one! Yeah I guess Vea is ready.

  4. Rod Munch Says:

Would be amazing if Vita just needed to lose some weight to make the leap from PRO-BOWL to ALL-PRO.

He has looked great though, and with Kancey next to him, that could be a deadly combo. And, as I’ve heard QBs say, pressure up the middle is a lot more disruptive than edge pressure.

  5. Cannon Says:

Vita pushed him over 10 yards backwards.

Did you all see what Gerald McCoy posted under that on X…

“The victims name is Jack Driscoll and he has a family. We as Americans need to stand by him in his trying time and stand for justice. @VitaVea needs to be held accountable, prosecuted and convicted to the highest extent of the law for ASSAULT. We will not stand for these types of hate crimes in 2024!!”

  9. White Tiger Says:

His nice “lean” look obviously has him light in his feet, but no loss in power.

    Vita Vea MacTruck’d that man.
