Tristan Wirfs Is A Very Rich Man

August 1st, 2024

Cash register rings.

The long Tampa Bay nightmare for so many Bucs fans is over. Tristan Wirfs and the Bucs have a deal in place.

Per BSPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Bucs’ starting left tackle Wirfs and the Bucs came to an agreement: five years, $140 million. Not bad for Mr. Wirfs and his young family.

Jordan Schultz also twittered out the news at the same time Schefter did.

That will buy you a few Maid-Rites.

Rest easy, Bucs fans. Wirfs will be around for a few years.

  4. Leighroy Says:

    Outstanding!

Dumb question, is this 5-years in addition to this year, or does this replace the final year?

Not sure. Wirfs will likely talk later this morning. Maybe Jason Licht, too.

Bucs feel like a first rate organization the way they have been able to retain talent the last couple of years. Congrats to wirfs.

  11. D-Rome Says:

Well deserved. He was the best RT in the NFL, was moved to the left side, and he was every bit as good as Trent Williams (if he’s still the standard). In my mind he’s Hall of Fame bound for sure.

  12. A Bucs Fan Says:

@Leighroy- Schefter’s tweet says that Wirfs is now contracted through the 2029 season so that would suggest it’s five years in addition to his 5th year option.

  13. Nate Says:

Awesome news! What does this mean for Chris Godwin now?

  14. ir8oldman Says:

    Hell Yeah!

  15. Richard Dickson Says:

But the media will still down us because we didn’t make any splashy free agent signings and so didn’t “get any better,” when the four players we re-signed would have been huge free agent splashes if they’d signed for any another team. Keeping your guys is so undervalued these days.

  16. Trask To The Future Says:

Now let’s give Mayfield an extension that he deserves to be the highest paid QB in the league! His stats show he’s earned it!

  17. heyjude Says:

This is fantastic news. Well deserved!

  18. Pewter Power Says:

Players around the league are loving the Bucs right now but front offices hate us, we had two players reset the market in one offseason

  19. Scotty Mack Says:

NFL.com says he will be paid $158,869,000 over the next 6 years.

  20. Bradinator Says:

Knew it was going to get done, just relieved to have it written in stone finally! Never want to see a different jersey on the man. His next stop should be Canton!

  21. SteelStudBuc Says:

I like the vibe of this team.

  22. Billyboy Says:

The rich getting richer good for him but damn money being tossed around inflation is real yo

  23. Bobby M. Says:

Curious if we gained a bit more cap space now that his deal is complete? Maybe now we can dump Gregory and convince Shaq to return.

  24. Lord Cornelius Says:

I love our front office. ‘Far apart’ my 4ss lol

  25. Mike C Says:

Guess they weren’t as “far apart ” as reported

  29. Smashsquatch Says:

Getting this done before Trent Williams’ deal was shrewd. Licht continues to plow forward as a top GM. Congrats Tristan! I said you’d be our best lineman ever when you were a rookie. Feeling pretty good about that prediction. Sorry Paul…

  30. BucsFan55 Says:

    Big Money Wirfs, Big Knots.

  31. Cho Says:

Absolutely beautiful. Wirfs is probably our most valuable player. Jason Licht is a top 5 NFL GM.

  32. TampaBayBucFan Says:

Like to see him jump out of a pool with saddlebags of cash….

  33. BigBucsFan Says:

For the fan who asked if the deal starts now or added on to his last year of the rookie contract. The initial report I read said he is signed on until 2029 5 years starting this season

  34. PNW Buc Says:

Float Joe Tryon and a 1st to Jerry Jones and see if we can get Micah parsons…then use that new cap space from Tristan and sign Micah long term. A boy can dream…lol
    Congrats Tristan
    Go Bucs

  35. Allbuccedup Says:

Good for him( and us also ).

  36. ManzielMadness Says:

Glad we got that done, Tristan needs to be a Buc for life. Also heard trainers had to cart Diaby off the field… hope it’s not serious, that’s an injury we can’t afford.

  37. MadMax Says:

    NICE! Congrats Wirfs.

I was saying 4 at 120, so we snuck in another yr for 20 more.

  38. Dave Pear Says:

    Hot tamales.

    Media tards trading again.

    Believe in JL.

  39. Natron Says:

After I saw him jump out of the bottom of that pool in waist deep water at 325 pds. I knew he could be great, Congrats Tristan!!!!!

  40. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

So they added 4 years on top of the remaining one and worked out a hefty raise. 5 years is a long one. Love it!

Didn’t media suggest they were far apart?
