Sean Tucker Making A Case To Be RB2 (RB1?)

August 17th, 2024

Statement game?

Two things jumped out at Joe about the Bucs early in tonight’s worthless preseason game against the Jags.

Dang this Bucky Irving doesn’t fart around when he gets a handoff. The dude attacks the line. No hesitation or Australian female break dancing with this guy.

And what can Joe say about Sean Tucker? The guy runs hard. And even more impressively, how about that vision Tucker had?

One thing that drives Joe nutso about Rachaad White (as a runner) is he simply cannot break tackles or force dudes to miss. Once he’s hit, that’s it. Another is White simply has little to no vision in the run game.

Tucker? He showed vision. He had an awesome 21-yard run in the first half where he first ran right but there wasn’t any room. So Tucker reversed field to the left, took advantage of good downfield blocking by receiver Ryan Miller, and rumbled 21 yards to help set up a Cody Thompson 12-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Trask.

“He’s doing a great job,” Bowles told Dan Lucas at halftime on the WFLA-TV Channel 8 broadcast. He’s finding the holes. He’s cutting it.

“He’s playing with confidence. I’m really happy with the way he is at.”

Tucker showed Saturday night what he has shown in training camp. He’s running hard. He’s avoiding tackles or breaking tackles.

If White isn’t careful, Irving and Tucker are going to take a lot of snaps away from him.

White better beware, this is not Keshawn Vaughn the back up

  2. Rod Munch Says:

    LOL!

Making some plays vs some scrubs means nothing. We saw what Tucker could do last year.

However, the player who impressed was Bucky. His vision, shifiness and quickness, even against scrubs, just jumps off the screen.

Meanwhile that Tucker run, on a Sunday, would have been for 2 yards.

  3. TampaBayBucFan Says:

If the game is worthless then are the plays made in the game also worthless?
    Are the stats worthless?
Are missed tackles really missed tackles or are they just worthless efforts?

    Inquiring minds want to know….

Actually, TBBF doesn’t think the preseason is worthless…..and it’s many NFL careers begin.

  4. Pewter Power Says:

lol everyone was dogging Tucker last year now he’s making a case for rb1 or 2? Can’t make that case in preseason against backups even though the only thing white has over Bucky and Tucker is size to hold up against a blitz

  5. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

White isn’t a running back he’s just pretending to be one so he can play. Won’t take long before Tuck n Buck take over the 1s and 2s

  6. No Mercy Says:

Sean Tucker oddly reminds me of Doug Martin and that makes me very optimistic

  7. Statguy Says:

White is great out the back field catching the ball but he isn’t a rb like the others are. He does have great hands and I can see him being used as a Debo Samuel type player. They are the exact same height and weight also.

  8. MadMax Says:

My man Bucky is just getting started…Tucker too!

meanwhile munchboi wants to downplay everything because thats what he does best, trolling….he’s so lonely…feel sorry for him i guess guys lol

  9. heyjude Says:

Bucky and Tucker looked good. Tucker had a rare congenital heart defect found during the draft. It sounds like he has it under control and can be successful on the field. Glad he got the help he needed to stay healthy for himself and for what he loves to do – play football.

  10. Hodad Says:

Barton was at center when Tucker had his long run. Have to take into account who was blocking on the best running plays last night.

  11. BucVoyager Says:

I feel a nickname coming on. White better look out for Buck and Tuck

  12. George R Says:

I want to see White in live action behind this line.

  13. heyjude Says:

Great nicknames, BucVoyager! Buck and Tuck! Love it.

  14. FrontFour Says:

Buck & Tuck! That’s gotta stick.

  15. SenileSenior Says:

I see a role for each RB. There is a place for White, Buck and Tuck in a 17 game season.

    Go Bucs!!

  16. Babygrace Says:

How is Tucker a possible RB2 when he is playing in a worthless preseason game. Your logic is terrible flawed.

  17. Swashbuckler Says:

Tucker is the only busting these big runs, but still people continue to downplay his speed and agility by saying he’s playing scrubs or can’t do in regular season game. So should he not get the chance to prove that he’s most explosive runner on the team. I mean everything Bucky Irving is doing is “against scrubs” as well. We all know Rashaad White can’t run the football is basically a glorified 3rd down back. If Tucker gets 10-12 carries in a game and some good blocking do we not think he can rip off a few field changing runs per game? He looked lost at times last season, but also missed all of rookie training camp and barely played his rookie year. His efficiency has been very good in these past 2 preseason games. There is no reason not to give him a shot with some work early in the season.

  18. Dave Pear Says:

Glad White isn’t getting any touches running the ball in practice or PS games. Another brilliant coiching move by the masturmind genius.

  19. Pewter Power Says:

Yea well to be fair Rachaad white hasn’t played behind this line in this scheme in uniform but he will Friday so before people go anointing Tucker and Bucky let the man play a few snaps

  20. Greg Says:

White had a thousand yard season running (almost) behind a problematic offensive line and I think he was 2nd in total offense from an RB (maybe, I think).

Whatever he had a lot of yardage. Let’s wait and see what happens shall we?

  21. Dave Pear Says:

Give Rachaad the rock ferchrissakes. He has been criticized and ridiculed publicly by The Masturmind. But Toad doesn’t let him touch the rock even in practice. That’s some fargin awesome head coiching right there. Way to help the man improve his craft. It’s always best to get zero reps when you’ve been called out on the need to improve.

  22. Cobraboy Says:

I have no idea how well Tucker will play in the NFL, but his college tale was outstanding. A weird ticker derailed his rook NFL debut, and set him back.

Maybe he’s just now getting back to where he was.

His play and Irving’s in two PS games give hope to a revived ground game in 2024.

That assumes White is also a different guy.

    Fingers crossed.

  23. Kenton Smith Says:

Greg you’re right! 2nd total yards. Second by about a hundred yards to Christian McCaffery. I think White has been slapped around by Joe a bit much. 6 tds rushing 3 tds receiving. That’s a bunch of production. Over 1500 yards. He may not be as smooth a running back as some. But he’s a stud and with some more help and spreading out this offense he’s gonna have a great year.

  24. BucVoyager Says:

White is a good back and I like him. The thing that sticks out to me is the cutback ability of “Tuck and Buck”. Maybe they don’t have the hands of White but they certainly see the running lanes better. Maybe it’s the blocking up front but there’s definitely a difference. I know DJ Williams was a total non factor.

  25. Dave Pear Says:

I like what I’ve seen from the KY Kid, Jefferson as the 4th RB option. DJ Williams looks like a slow plodding furniture mover. But, for the first time in a long time, hope for the running game. Good thing too, as the head coich loves him some 1971 era football.

  26. No Mercy Says:

It’s funny because someone said buck and tuck before everyone else noticed the second mention of it .. and I must say I’m a huge fan

  27. Dave Pear Says:

First few times “Buck and Tuck” was mentioned, a few observations were made that the label sounded “ghey.”

Look, it’s the horing 20s – nothing wrong with “ghey” — but those observations are accurate. It is “ghey.”

Which means Darcy Glazer will stamp “approved” on the nickname and it will become a staple of the New Bucs under Toad Bowels for 2025.

    Yay.

  28. garro Says:

All the SuperHype of Bucky says I will be chastized as a fake fan for saying this, but I think Tucker has the advantage for being at the very lest RB2 if not pressing White. The only reason I say “if not” is because they have not yet played White.

    Go Bucs!

  29. garro Says:

Comments have now sunk to a brand new all time low.

  30. Scotty Mack Says:

Makes a big difference, it would seem, being able to attend all of the OTAs and the full training camp schedule.
