More Bucs Disrespect Flows

August 22nd, 2024

Stunning omissions.

Man, this steamed Joe because it felt like a double shot of disrespect of the Bucs and Tampa Bay fans.

So yesterday, Sports Illustrated senior NFL insider Albert Breer was a guest on Colin Cowherd’s TV show on FS1. Breer did a 15-minute segment with Cowherd while sitting in the Buccaneers’ media studio at One Buc Palace. A Bucs-logo-adorned podium was seen over his shoulder in front of a giant Bucs banner.

Even a novice NFL fan could determine exactly where Breer was.

In fact, Breer had just watched the Bucs-Dolphins joint practice and talked to many movers and shakers with both teams.

Joe saw the FS1 broadcast on a big screen TV while sitting at Hooters recording the latest Ira Kaufman Podcast. While inhaling Buffalo Shrimp and fries for $9.99, Joe thought, ‘Cool, can’t wait to watch Breer and Cowherd at home and hear fresh Bucs chatter.’

Well, Joe can report that there was no mention of the Bucs in the 15-minute segment.

But it gets worse.

Cowherd shared with Breer (and viewers via a graphic) all of his 2024 picks to make the NFL postseason. The list included the Falcons winning the NFC South and the Commanders sneaking into the NFC playoffs as a Wild Card, with the Lions and 49ers also as Wild Cards.

Breer responded by challenging Cowherd on the Washington pick, and he noted that either the Seahawks or Cardinals could sneak into the playoffs instead of Washington. Breer cited each team’s many good young players that could kick their games up a notch.

So what’s terribly wrong with this picture? Last week Breer picked the Bucs to win the NFC South — yet he made no mention of them to Cowherd despite sitting at Bucs headquarters.

Man, Joe was sure Cowherd would have said something to Breer like, ‘You’re obviously at Bucs training camp today. Tell us something we need to know about that team.’ Nope. It didn’t happen.

No need for fresh analysis of the Bucs team that finished last season a few plays from reaching the NFC Championship game.

I just got a bad feeling about this season.

    Mayfield regression
    Thin secondary
    Camp cupcake
    No name pass rush
Back to back 32nd ranked rushing
    Rookie center
    Tougher schedule

    I don’t know boys…

  2. Jason Says:

    I feel the exact opposite.
I got a good feeling about this season!

We’re basically the Rodney Dangerfield of the NFL. We don’t get no respect.

  3. Mike C Says:

If only Trask was starting…… then I bet we would be good 🙄

  4. BakerFan Says:

Maybe his opinion changed after watching the joint practice session. Need to ask him.

I have posted more than once that we have the 27th easiest schedule this year yet people keep acting like we have the hardest schedule in the NFL

  6. Permanently Moderated Says:

Mostly Peaceful Trask Fan is dreaming again. 🙄

  7. Quinlan Says:

The way I see it is if this season goes bust well then it’s been a waste of two seasons with Baker and we’ll look back and wonder what might have been if we instead had tried to develop our own quarterback.

  8. Buc4evr Says:

I feel a lot better about the Offense this season. Think the Bucs could have a middle of the pack running game and I know Coen will be a better play caller than Canales. Look for the WRs to light up defenses.

What concerns me is the Buc’s defense. – no edge rush and a secondary that hasn’t looked very good. I fear that good QBs will pick the secondary apart and make big third down plays. Hope Jason can find a veteran edge rusher at cut down time….

  9. Gipper Says:

Can’t believe Colin Cowhead gets paid for his schtick. This guy oozes pomposity. In short, he is a lightweight best ignored.

  10. Bucben1961 Says:

    More trolls than letter t’s

    Go bucs!!!!!

  11. FanoftheSouth Says:

August 13th Joe posted about Breer’s outlook on the NFC South. Made the impression the Breer although said nothing might be willing to bet the House.
Ea4ly in the day on the 19th Joe posted again about Breer’s outlook.

Later on the Falcons traded for Judo; and got Simmons a day later. Two multi Pro Bowl players added within 24 hours is definitely enough to make a difference.

I believe that he may have changed his mind as far as the NFC South and chose to say nothing to avoid looking like a flip flopper.

  12. SOEbuc Says:

It’s national media BS and the NFC South. Apparently Cousins is going to win a Super Bowl with ATL. NOT!

  13. Mike S Says:

Dave Pear how many burner accounts do you have on here? LOL

There are questions to be answered once the bell rings.

Atlanta isn’t going to be a pushover.

Tampa wasn’t some barn burner team last season. 9-8 and then beat Philly who were 1-5 in their prior 6.

There’s a lot to be proved yet.

  14. Bee Says:

What is so difficult to comprehend? The Bucs have a few standout players on an overall slightly above average team.

The Bucs went 9-8 and had how many losing streaks last season? Never had the lead in the Divisional Playoff game which ended on a pick. New OC, no pass rush, no shut down CB and a questionable run game.

This team can’t beat the 49ers or Lions.

This team has a lot to prove. The media doesn’t matter, just win!

Just because you posted it doesn’t make it so.

  16. Crickett Baker Says:

It is weird. I just read an article Breer wrote praising the Buccs. He said 22 out of 23 guys we drafted in the past 3 years are still on the team. He also said more good things. I am not sure what he really thinks, now.

  17. Drunkinybor Says:

Cowerds run thier mouths killers don’t talk.

  18. Dave Pear Says:

I’ll shut up about Todd if the Bucs D comes out and shuts down Phish first drive and score a TD on Bucs first drive.

I agree there is a lot to prove after last year’s Bowels Mediocrity. I thought he had evolved. Now I’m very doubtful, but have faith in the re-energizing run game, new RBs, our receivers, beefier OL, and the new OC.

My hopium is the defense will do slightly worse in 2024 but the offense will be a chunk of points better. Need at least 10 wins.

Gonna be tough when you can’t stop a slant, a post or a 3rd and bagillion.

  19. infomeplease Says:

I’m sure JL has added him to this year’s chalkboard of disrespect!! 😎

  20. Jeffrey Becker Says:

it’s hard to be wrong so many times in one post Bee. grats. new OC is likely a plus. run game might be one of best in league. mediocre edge rush, but good interior rush and excellent blitzers. shut down corners? hardly any team really has one, outside of the Jets and a couple others maybe, but we got a handful of decent corners and the best safeties in the league. finally, the bucs can beat any team on any given day. the problem they have is, they can lose to bad teams by playing too soft over the middle and by blitzing too much

  21. Pewter Power Says:

Bowles has to actually beat someone with a winning record this year if he wants respect

They keep saying that if you don’t have a quarterback you have no shot well the same goes for pass rushers.

Yea we have Yaya but I think Bowles has amnesia. Seems to forget the year he decided JTS could replace JPP or the year Shaq went down for the year. Depending on one proven young guy and platooning below average pass rush guys, I’m worried about Mr Wizard

  22. Dave Pear Says:

Jeffrey Becker deserves the Pulitzer for this comment:

“ they can lose to bad teams by playing too soft over the middle and by blitzing too much “

Exactly. Others see this too. Ira wrote a great article about it.

Licht and the Glazers also know. Let’s see some coaching – let’s see the same mistakes actually, finally get corrected! That would be huge.

  23. Christopher Schiefen Says:

    Mostly Peaceful Trask Fan:
Why will Baker regress? He’s never regressed unless he was hurt (Browns) or came into camp in an organization late (Panthers), an org so bad they fired the coach right after and were the worst team last year. No, Baker is actually just good. Cousins is this weird darling & in half the starts Baker has twice the playoff wins including on a squad that just went 0-30.

The secondary is deeper than last year.

YaYa’s a name, JTS is a 1st round pick in a contract year, Braswell is a 2nd round pick who’s already figured it out faster than YaYa did.

Canales & Hainsey & Fournette & Rachaad are why the poor rushing. Coen’s scheme is better, Barton may be a Wirfs-esque talent, & they have 2 good backs behind Rachaad now. Meanwhile, Fournette is out of the league for 2 years.

They had a first place schedule last year.

    ^^^^^^

I got a “bad” feeling, too!!!

    BADA** Team …
    1. Prime Evans. Prime Godwin.
    2. Biggest, Best OL in Bucs History.
    3. Run game loading …
    4. CK, Yaya, Vea gonna eat!
    5. AWJ + Whitehead
    6. Real OC

    BAD ATTITUDE
Baker and the boys are fueled up by these haters. They ain’t saying outloud but trust me, they’re mad AF. This team has 10 Super Bowl Champs and most are 3x NFCS Champs who just beat the defending NFC Champs 32-9 … and they gett’n shade left and right. These are prideful men.

    BAD NFCS
    Saints = OLD
Falcons = Brittle with Novis Coaching
    Panthers = Panthers

You’re right to have a bad feeling. Take cover NFL. It’s almost time fire the cannons.

Not calling you out bro at all but just saying no one is talking about the saints at all so they have that exact same mindset. If you dismiss them you prove my point even though I hate em They destroyed us at the end of the season.

Licht ain’t really that mad AF though is he? He’s got Logan hall last year half a sack and one QB Hit and they like nah we good. Yea we good enough to win the division then what? He’s some kind of draft guru, there was no 5th 6th rounder to motivate Logan hall?

I too think the Saints should NOT be overlooked. They looked pretty good against San Fran last week…. preseason and all that but we don’t need to be counting ANYBODY out.

Stay humble, head down, do the work, get better.
I think the coaches get it! I think the players get it! We’ll see.

  29. Booger Says:

Yeah, I watched this live… It pissed me off, too.

  30. Rod Munch Says:

How do people watch this garbage? Cowturd is as dumb as it gets in sports, why would anyone willingly watch this?

  31. August1976Buc Says:

What am I missing? The Bucs beat a “sliding into the abyss” Eagles team in the wild card round and then lost a playoff game in Detroit. So anyone howling about omission or disrespect needs to take a deep breath and relax. Yeah, pump out an article, generate some clicks.. Whatever…….
This team,is 17-17 and then add 1-2 in playoffs the last 2 years. 18-19 screams mediocre.

Yes it was good to see Baker and the team turn a “sinking ship in a cap-hell year” around and win the division. But that great turn around equaled a 9-8 record and 1-1 in the playoffs. That is no great achievement, only 1 win above average.

Respect is earned, and I hope they earn it. GO BUCS!!!!!!!!!

  32. Mostly Peaceful Trask Fan Says:

    Sly:

Evans is a beast. Godwin fantastic. Not in question.

Bredeson sucked last year. Barton is a rookie. Don’t sleep on Klein – he might be starting before EOY. The line is a year away from being dominant.

Run game has no electric backs. I do think they’ll be better than 32, but not dominant.

Interior dline is strong. Edge rush got a lot to prove. Yaya didn’t have great win rates last year. Nelson get stoned by the better lineman – and those are your starters? JTS we know is a bust, he shouldn’t start but he probably will. Braswell will be solid, but very few edge guys dominate as rookies.

The secondary is weak. The #1 doesn’t intercept the ball. The #2 is just ok. The #3 was a healthy scratch last year for the Bucs. Nickel is an undersized UDFA and a 3rd rounder who can’t beat him out

The safeties are the strength of the defense. Winfield won 2 games last year on miraculous hustle plays. Can he do it again? You take those but can’t expect that to happen frequently.

Mayfield was Jekyll and Hyde last season. Wasn’t consistent.

Several players need a big step up in production if they want to be a 10 win team.

  33. heyjude Says:

Disappointed with Breer. It’s bothersome that he talked from one side of his mouth on one day and then didn’t own it another day. And yes, even worse he was at Bucs headquarters. Cowherd should have mentioned it too. I have always liked Colin, but he should have done his homework and held Breer’s earlier comments about the Bucs accountable.

  34. FortMyersDave Says:

Back in the mid ’90s Cowterd was on 820 The Team and also a weekend anchor for Big 13. The dude was mediocre on radio and if I remember correctly was overshadowed by the late Hubert Mizell and dudes like Ron Weingarten and TJ Rives. He only spent a couple of years in the Tampa market before going to the west coast and I never really liked his takes, he is more of a shock jock. Thus, as a Tampa fan, Cowterd is simply another tool which Jason Licht can collect a receipt from.

  35. Ted Says:

Cowhead has always been a discount version of Jim Rome. He is wrong alot and an incredible bore.

  36. Oneilbuc Says:

August1976. That’s a great point and I’ve said the same thing but if you bring facts and don’t put on rose color glasses about the team that means you not a real bucs fan. If you don’t celebrate a 9-8 record in the worse division in football and it took all 17 games just to do win the division with a record like that means you are not a real bucs fan .

  37. August1976Buc Says:

lol Oneilbuc, fans can say whatever they want lol, but we all saw the same thing.
The reality is the Bucs have been a mediocre team the last few years, 17-17 reg season states it clearly.
This team showed grit for sure last year and went on a run. It has been a rare sight to watch a Buccaneer team that once it spirals down, usually never recovers. The 1996 team winning their last 5 games comes to mind, but that team finished 6-10. That did set the stage for 1997 and winning the first 5 games and eventually going to the playoffs for the first time in 15 years, and beating Detroit before losing to Farve and the Pack
This 2024 version of the Bucs, currently is a big work in progress, and nothing to right home to mamma about lol YET…….. Hopefully this changes, and they become a team that plays consistently with excellence. GO BUCS!!!!!

  38. Proudbucsfan Says:

Colin Cowturd and Albert rearend should never be aloud back in the Buccaneer facility again

  39. Booger Says:

Because there is literally nothing else on right now, Rod. I’m DONE with the same 5-6 stories/teams that ESPN talk about everyday, & their politics. Colin used to be ‘different’ and pretty good, but I’m done with him now, too… He’s now extremely LAZY, and his takes are completely outta touch and mostly just weak propaganda he’s heard from all of his close GM/Coaches/FO ‘friends’ etc. The bottom line is it was either HIM or all of that DNCBS, so I chose him… I also, REFUSE to watch the DNC all fricken day.

  40. Booger Says:

And, I don’t actually watch the entire show… I just keep it on previous channel and flip back every hour and rewind to see if I missed anything I wanted to see/hear. So, you can imagine HOW HAPPY I was to see the Bucs logos all in the background (I assumed they would at least say SOMETHING, since considering I knew Breer had to be at their camp on that day), & then just how disappointed to see and hear that there was not even the FIRST word.

  41. August1976Buc Says:

  43. Oneilbuc Says:

Dave queer. Is already making excuses for Baker Mayfield lol 🤣🤣!! He’s afraid all that talk he did all off season insulting people because they have on rose color glasses when it comes to Baker Mayfield. And now he’s already trying to make Bowles the scapegoat for Baker Mayfield lol 🤣🤣!! The bucs defense was not the main reason why we were 9-8 . Our defense was ranked 7th in the NFL while our offense was ranked 26th but it was the defense fault. Lol 🤣🤣 our defense was the reason why we made the playoffs last year remember both games against the Panthers? Lol 🤣🤣 it was our defense that dominated those games . That’s why I’m not that worried about our defense maybe the pass rush a little when rushing 4 but the offense can’t score points. How many first quarter touchdowns the bucs scored ?
