Logan Hall Beginning To Emerge

August 3rd, 2024

Biggest play of practice.

OK, if it wasn’t for Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, Joe is pretty convinced Logan Hall would be Public Enemy No. 1 for Bucs fans.

Hall has been pretty invisible through his first two years, playing in JTS’s shadow as far as non-production since he was drafted in the second round in 2022.

So on Friday, Joe spoke after practice with someone with the Bucs. Joe asked for players who might be flying under the radar from the team’s perspective and are practicing well. The Bucs source thought for a second or two and told Joe, “Hey, 90 the past two practices has really played well.”

That would be No. 90, Hall. That certainly got Joe’s attention.

Then today, Hall showed up big time.

Kyle Trask went back to pass and on this particular defensive call, Hall dropped back two or three steps. As it happened, Trask threw it right to Hall as if he were Cade Otton.

Hall reached up, grabbed the pass maybe on the 35-yard line, and housed* it.

Now Joe has to include an asterisk (*) there. The Bucs weren’t trying to lay guys out even though it was a padded practice. Todd Bowles wants to avoid injuries so the players aren’t burying dudes, at least not on purpose.

So when Hall was about to cross the goal line along the left sideline, Tristan Wirfs was coming at him full speed. Joe was sitting right there at the goal line and believe Joe, a man that size running as fast as Wirfs can run quickly gets your attention.

Had full hitting been allowed, Wirfs would have destroyed Hall at the goal line like a train hitting a pickup at a railroad crossing. Think how Donovan Smith blew up Marcus Peters at the goal line in The Colesium in Los Angeles in 2019. It would have been the same result.

But Wirfs pulled up at the last second and didn’t touch him (fortunately for Hall’s health).

After two seasons of making no impact with the team, could the light bulb finally be illuminated for Hall? Only time will tell.

All we have is hope and time, and only one of them can be quantified. Here’s hoping Hall starts producing! *CHEERS, SALUT, SKOL*

So you want him to play for the Vikings? 🙂

    interesting 🧐

  4. Dude Says:

Players need time to adjust, give them the time to do so and they might just have something to show you.

Also, LOL at Hall dropping into coverage, only in Todd Bowles’ defense you can see 300lb guys getting their CB1 on 😂

Some times it takes a couple of years to learn the nfl

  6. Mike Says:

Would love to see some of these guys develop for sure! I remember the first two years when we drafted Barber. I thought man, what a bum!

  7. Bucsfan951 Says:

Bucs have won their division and made the playoffs since entering the nfl. He hasn’t been that effective like his draft spot should dictate. With that said, him getting better is icing on the defensive line cake.

Hope that is a sign of things to come Joe. Hall has not lived up to his draft status at all. He could be a big differnce maker for us this year. We are so very close to having a crazy good defense this year. DT is one of thise areas that many have said is thin. After Vea and Kancey it looks kind of average to me.

BTW has Culpepper been spotted at all? Rooting for him.

    Go Bucs!

LOL! No, I’d rather him produce for the Bucs!

I’ve got a group that goes to wineries, we call ourselves The Winers, and one elder lady is from Norway or Sweden, so our group always gives those 3 cheers before we imbibe.

You’ve got to give Logan Hall a break he’s been injured I think he’s a very and will be an excellent player Logan Hall is a good player

  11. Daniel Hammond Says:

Logan Hall will end up being a great player he’s good now though

  12. JimBobBuc Says:

A good play by Hall. Sometimes I wish that Kancey and Vita were taller to get some blocked passes. Maybe stunt Vita and Nelly so Nelly can get some blocks and maybe a pick like Hall?!

    INTERESTING VANTAGE POINTS

I thought Hall played well last year (BTW, so did Bowles). Often the first DL into the backfield flushes the QB out or around the pocket. The flushed QB into a sack by the second guy who gets in. I saw Hall in backfield on several occasions and helping other guys get record pressures or sacks. Hall gets nothing statistically although he has a big impact.

Watch Hall this year. You’ll be surprised how good he actually is.

  14. Booger Says:

That will surely, at least give him a nice little, much needed boost of confidence!

  15. Will Says:

@Joe as a Cali bucs fan I was at that game when Smith crushed Peters. Funny thing as I’m reading your article that popped into my head before I read. Damn that was a great day. Nothing like walking back to my car in a Bucs jersey with all the pissed off Rams fans saying they couldn’t believe how we destroyed them. Lol

  16. CTBucs Says:

He plays a position (4/5 technique) that rarely shows up on the stat sheet. Will Gholston has played that position so well for us a 3-4 DE. Hall is playing the same position. Gholstons career high in sacks is 4.5 in a year. That’s a realistic expectation for Hall. He gets a lot of unfair heat for the unfortunate injury to Jensen, and for his draft stock. But based on what he’s asked to do in our defense, I don’t think Hall isn’t a bad player, and he improved a lot last season. Hope he can continue as he gets stronger

  17. Joe Says:

Damn that was a great day.

    Yeah it was! 🙂

  18. Dave Pear Says:

The Oaf picks off Trashk. Hilarious.

  19. Esteban85 Says:

Uh oh another chess piece 😂

  20. Rod Munch Says:

Why would people hate on Hall? He plays the role in the defense where you’re least likely to ever appear or gain stats. It’s just the role he plays – it’s needed, but you’re never going to look special there in this defense, it’s not built for that. Hall has been fine, but those who think he should have 10 sacks don’t understand his role.

  21. ModHairKen Says:

“Think how Donovan Smith blew up Marcus Peters at the goal line in The Colesium in Los Angeles in 2019.” Third place all time. Second: Sapp on Clifton and the all time hardest hit ever, Brantley on Hipple.

  22. heyjude Says:

Wonderful to hear good news about Logan. This season could be even bigger for him.

Agree with Booger comment. This is a confident booster too. Go Bucs!

  23. Conner50 Says:

    Dave Pear
Why so much hate on our second string quarterback?

  24. Dave Pear Says:

Ken – Brantley on Hipple was so classic. Thanks for that reference.
