Joe Tryon-Shoyinka Down With Shoulder Injury

August 3rd, 2024

Hurt.

The edge-rush-needy Bucs look like they may need a roster injection.

After today’s practice, Jenna Laine of ESPN reported that Joe Tryon-Shoyinka was dealing with a sprained shoulder. She added her sources say the injury is “not serious.”

What is “not serious?” Does that mean JTS won’t need surgery? Might be out two months? A month? Two weeks? That’s awfully vague.

Of course, since it is not the regular season, teams are not obligated to issue injury reports.

JTS last year had his best season as a pro with five sacks, the second-most sacks from a Bucs outside linebacker. YaYa Diaby, who sprained an ankle this week, had 7.5 sacks to lead the Bucs in sacks overall.

Since MIA OLB Randy Gregory is still on the roster, will Bucs coach Todd Bowles and/or Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht try to sweet talk Gregory out of hiding?

Bucs will let the young guys like Braswell, Ramirez, Watts and Nelson to keep going at it. And in due time with Diaby.

    IRA!!!

  3. FRANK BUCS FAN Says:

the smartest move would be to dump Gregory now !!

  4. Jarrett Says:

Man we need our savior, Randy Gregory to step up and be there..

    Oh wait ….

  5. Buc4evr Says:

Stop. Gregory is a head case and a pretty lousy player, time for Jason to get a veteran Edge. JTS is a backup and Gregory is worse than JTS, we need a player that is going to be a legit starter.

  6. Biff Barker Says:

We will be dumpster diving at roster cuts time!
Dump Gregory as soon as we find somebody better.

  7. Jarrett Says:

Just to add on the comment from Bucs4ever

When do you think Jason Lit will let go of future draft picks to get a proven pass rusher, and when is Jason Lit going to be willing to make a pass rusher the highest paid at his position.

There has to be some pass rusher in need of a new deal.

  8. Matt_PcAfee Says:

I hate to say it but it’s time to overpay for someone…

  9. Buccaneer rick Says:

If he is still on our roster someone is not doing there job get that guy off our roster before he “accidentally “ slips another player one of his special candy or medicated that guys is a joke Frfr I haven’t been this mad since we got Rober aggoya I think that’s how u spell it but I. Pretty sure u guys understand

  10. Rod Munch Says:

Said it before, but go give JPP a call and see if he wants to play. I was saying previously more as a mentor for YaYa, since I think – from what I’ve seen – that YaYa could end up being that style of player. But JPP was still playing last year, and when I saw him, he looked better and more healthy than he did his last year here (although in very limited snaps). Not sure if he’d want what the Bucs can pay, but perhaps ask him.

  11. Alstott up the gut Says:

Ring ring…. Hello NY Jets? Let’s talk Haason Reddick and how we can make a deal that works for both of us.

  12. JimBobBuc Says:

Joe, why aren’t you touting Hassan Reddick? Signed?

  13. Joe Says:

Joe, why aren’t you touting Hassan Reddick? Signed?

Sometimes you don’t have to state the obvious.

  14. Dadgumit Says:

Seems to me the bucs have already made their bed with OLB. Hope they do not have any restless nighmares…

  15. Rod Munch Says:

I don’t see any possible way the Bucs would after Reddick – he wants a new deal up front, at market value, so you’re talking what, $22m a year or more?

BTW, after 3-years JTS has nearly twice the number of sacks that Hasson had after his 3rd year. So using the Baker/Brees/Brady comparison I hear all the time, that means JTS is twice as good as Hassona, so a big breakout season upcoming!

  16. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Not worried. All off season people here dissed JTS…so apparently he isn’t important.

  17. JimBobBuc Says:

Really bad timing for JTS. With YaYa out, JTS could get more snaps in practice.

  18. Saskbucs Says:

JPP is too long in the tooth. Gregory is a waste of space. If they were to go after Reddick, the Jets would then be short a pass rusher and pretty sure they are all in, which makes it odd they haven’t given him more money already. Also, to sign and trade for Reddick would take a large chunk of next years cap after the extensions this season for our own guys.

No easy answer… if everyone was super confident in Baker and Liam and the revamped OL … then throwing the bag at Reddick would prolly make some sense as we would be instant SB contenders.

  19. Bakersbucs says Says:

maybe just maybe these guys r getting the injuries out of the way before the season starts.

JPP is too long in the tooth.

    ——–

For every down play, yes. However he’s just 35, and played last year and was still productive in limited snaps. But the big thing, the reason I was bringing it up before the injuries, was that Yaya’s playstyles reminds me a ton of JPP, so he could play the mentor role and play a few downs here and there.

As for Reddick, isn’t going to happen. The cap is flexible, you can do a lot of things, but it’s not infinite and you can only kick the can down the road so far. If the Bucs were going to go all in this year, perhaps you give it a go. But this isn’t a team that you go all in on – unless Licht thinks his job is on the line, and I’d hope that isn’t the case.

  21. Leopold Stotch Says:

Wow, thanks A LOT SAGE! Of course I’m kidding… Somewhat, but man this is really rotten luck

  22. Joe in Michigan Says:

Maybe the silver lining is that some of these young, unknown Edges show something.

  23. adam from ny Says:

gregory is still on the roster ?

    #PuffPuffPass

  24. PewterStiffArm Says:

Please leave Gregory in hiding, he is a dope and a distraction. There will be some players available after a few weeks.

  25. CTBucs Says:

Oh great. Now we get to read about Hassan Reddick daily for the month of August

  26. Buc1987 Says:

    The sky is falling!

  27. Seanbuc76 Says:

Why not give Shaq B a call? He left Miami and retired see if he wants to come back one more then retire a buc officially that is if these OLB injuries keep piling up I’m sure he’d be cheaper than trading for reddick

  28. Stanglassman Says:

They were not even wearing pads on Saturday. How do you injury your shoulder with no contact? I guess this is what Bowles was talking about when he said ‘other bumps and bruises’ . This must have happened in the last padded practice unless it happened in the weight room.

  29. BA’s Red Pen Says:

Put Kyle Trask at Edge. The smart Bucs fans know that all the Great and Powerful Trask needs is a chance.

  30. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

Perhaps it is time to offer up trask and dean in a trade bait for a solid vet DE? There are not a lot of really good healthy ones out there.

  31. MadMax Says:

    You see this Braswell?

    yall just chill please

  32. heyjude Says:

Thank you for the laugh, BA’s Red Pen!

Sorry to hear about JTS. So many questions awaiting an MRI and if we will hear about it. Is it a rotator cuff, bruised, frozen shoulder, or just being cautious. Similar to Stanglassman – When did it actually happen?

All in on Haason Reddick too. But the price is too high and the Bucs would need to give up a lot. Gregory probably cannot be touched because of the NFL lawsuit, status quo for now.

  33. BucU Says:

We need to practice in bubble wrap.
    Pathetic.

  34. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

JL call your friends in New England and give them a draft pick for M Judon. He doesn’t want to be there and they aren’t going anywhere this year.

  35. Buc2Blame Says:

This is pure comedy 🤦🏾‍♂️…. Jason please go get Hassan…. Does Jason not see what we see 🤦🏾‍♂️

  36. BucsfaninOregon Says:

Well, if I had to choose who could get injured and unable to practice I might pick JTS. I don’t expect much from him anyway. I think there are players out there that can help the Bucs other than Haason Reddick. Go find him.

  37. StickinUp4Centers Says:

A grade three sprain would be a complete tear and would probably require surgery. Grade two is partially torn and grade one is very little to no tearing. If it’s not to serious, I think we can rule out a grade three sprain. He’s probably looking at a month off.

  38. Slacker Says:

Gregory will make just as many big plays from where he’s hiding as JTS will starting.

  39. Bucnjim Says:

The shoulder won’t be right all season even with a slight sprain. It’s not like a sprained wrist where you just tape it up.

  40. Mike Johnson Says:

Bucs need to seriously see who is still available out there for Pass Rushing. Other teams have become better. WE NEED A PASS RUSH GUYS. Remember last year when opposing QB’s had time to make sandwiches in the pocket? Just sayin….
