Ironic Comments From Lavonte David
August 26th, 2024So iconic Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David didn’t play a snap in the preseason.
Is he happy about it?
The Bucs’ preseason finale was Friday night against Miami, David’s hometown team. David is a huge Miami guy and Joe suspects David would have loved to have the locals in South Florida watch him against the Dolphins one last time.
Two days before kickoff, David was asked what’s most important to him about playing a little in the preseason finale.
“Just being game-ready, David said. “I feel like I’m, you know, well-conditioned already (laughs) being in this Florida heat… but just being able to move side to side, get my hips turning and stuff like that. Doing actual football stuff – tackling and things like that. So it’s always a good feeling to get that in, get your shoulders a little sore sometimes.”
Joe’s going to take a leap and say David wanted to play a series against Miami and was shut down because Todd Bowles wanted to be extra careful, or David has a very minor injury.
Either reason is a good one, but Joe also understands and respects that players want to get some live action to, you know, be truly ready for live action.
In the Camp Cupcake world of NFL training camp, David’s next tackle likely will be his first since January.

I have zero issues with this particular Bowles decision.

Good decision by Coach Bowles.

One last time? Do you know something or did I miss something?

LVD IS 137 YEARS OLD
You don’t play a MLB in a preseason game when he’s 137 years old. You give him a newspaper, some pudding, and a nap.

Lol Pirate. But fighters want to fight. Pudding..hysterical.

@SlyPirate
I said your line in the voice of the barbershop scene in Coming to America when they were taking about Joe Lewis..
Not sure if that’s how you meant it but it definitely took me there.

LVDs opinion is meaningless considering the preseason game are meaningless. Someone needs to let this scrub know whats up.
August 26th, 2024 at 8:49 pm
Oh wait, that was the IRONIC part. LVD doesn’t think Preseason games are meaningless like the Yoe’s.
Point remains, someone needs to let ‘this’ scrub know what’s up.

The cupcake off-season, and the lack of hitting, less playing time in preseason… Then you wonder why every game you see receivers who can’t run routes and defensive players who don’t know how to tackle.
Two weeks before the season starts the entire starting offense and defense should play a half, get a little rhythm going

I agree David and the lack of real game reps and tackles and being hit is going to make the players body’s more susceptible to being hurt because they won’t be game ready that’s something you can’t just turn on. I don’t care who you are. You have to work your body your joints, bones, muscles tendons into collision shape. I was a professional athlete for a little over ten years. I know this first hand. Yeah stretching and rub downs help, but it takes more.

With Dennis missing another training camp, and all of the preseason it was important to find out who can play. Grier flashed the most. Still ILB is razor thin, David needed to be protected from injury.

@SlyPirate Okay that’s straight up mega-disrepectful. Lavonte is old but he won’t even be 137 until January 23rd!!! Don’t prematurely abandon the man at the State run retirement community until he starts becoming a nuisance or gets really needy
