Chase Edmonds, Rakim Jarrett “For Sure” Will Be On Injured Reserve

August 24th, 2024

Chase Edmonds IR bound.

Two Bucs players Joe thought were on the outside looking in as far as a spot on the team got bailed out today.

Chase Edmonds, who hasn’t practiced since the first few days of training camp, and Rakim Jarrett, who has been sidelined for some time with an injury, will get a parachute when the Bucs shave their roster to the mandated 53 on Tuesday.

Bowles this morning in his day-after presser was asked about Jarrett, specifically and then Edmonds. At first Bowles said Edmonds “probably” will start the season on injured reserve and he quickly changed that status to Edmonds “will” start the season on injured reserve.

Same with Jarrett, who has been riddled with injuries since signing with the Bucs as an undrafted free agent last year.

Joe doesn’t know what to say about Edmonds. Throughout his career, he has been chronically hurt. A hot tub all-star. And let’s be real: We’re talking about a backup running back on the worst rushing attack in the NFL last season.

Joe means, c’mon.

As always, your best ability is your availability.

I would like that job. Do they just pour his cash into the hot-tub? Bucked of champagne? Just trying to picture the scene.

  2. Lt. Dan Says:

The bet here is that the Bucs pick up a serviceable back after team cut downs and Edmonds get relegated to the streets.

It ain’t our money. I have a feeling the Glaziers can afford it.

Another great ability is durability and I think it is the best one. Availability could mean you went to a wedding or somesuch and don’t have it.

That opens up the door for another UDFA WR….and we have several to choose from

    We keeping six wide receivers?

    Evans
    Goodwin
    Palmer
    McMillan
    Shepard
    Thompson?

  7. BigBoiBuc Says:

    Who is Goodwin? ^

Not certain of the new rules, but not a fan of either taking an IR spot especially if that means the early return designation isn’t available for a more valuable player who gets hurt early in the season. Don’t see either guy getting immediately picked up by another club if released.

    Evans
    Goodwin
    McMillan
    Palmer
    Thompson
    Kam Johnson (returns)

    PS: Shepard/ Miller/ Knue

The thing about Edmonds is that he’s actually a pretty good running back when healthy. He just can’t stay healthy.

    Bring on Tucker and Irving!

  11. ^^mtn^^ Says:

    unbelievable: agree.

he’s pretty much been a 50-100 carry per season RB his whole career.

Bucs should go with some youth.

wonder if that’s what the Bucs will do on the DL, ie. Gaines/ Gholston
