“Certified Baller”

August 10th, 2024

High praise after NFL debut.

Bucs fans already learned from the playcaller himself that receivers Trey Palmer and rookie Jalen McMillan “will play a ton” this season.

Still, neither is considered a starter and both were on the field tonight during the preseason opener at Cincinnati. (The Bucs won 17-14).

They’re effectively in a battle for the No. 3 receiver spot and each came to play.

McMillan’s NFL debut featured 2 catches for 23 yards, including a 19-yarder over the middle from Kyle Trask. It was the kind of underneath route McMillan’s been running successfully all summer.

“Certified baller, for sure. You see it all over his college tape,” Trask said of McMillan. Trask added that McMillan has had a stellar camp.

One Trask throw went Palmer’s way, and it landed in the red zone for a 21-yard gain.

The Bucs receivers depth looked real and impressive tonight, with Rakim Jarrett also catching both balls sent his way, including a sweet 28-yard touch pass from Trask. On the next play, Jarrett was on the end of a 7-yard completion.

WRs were impressive tonight. Better get back in there fast Kam Johnson. That should put a little heat on him and Sterling.

  2. Captain Dan Lawrence Says:

    Great game BUCS!!!

  3. Jeffrey Becker Says:

Trask seemed pretty good too. Here and there, he reminds me a lot of Tim Tebow. Being our first preseason game, the Bucs did very well. JMC was everything we heard he might be too, awe-inspiring. Cannot wait for the next game. Go Bucs!

Of course our receivers for outstanding and we have possibly the best receiving core top to bottom starter to the last string guy in the entire NFL. I thought Trask looked much improved over the last couple preseasons throwing some very very pretty ball. Thank goodness he doesn’t remind me anything of Tim Tebow. Much taller much better touch on his passes and doesn’t get confused that he’s maybe a running back maybe it’s te maybe a quarterback maybe just a football player or missionary

Lot’s of positives from last night including no major injuries. Successful first challenge of 2024.

Football Tayshaun Prince, that’s what I see when I see JMac runs routes like he’s running the fast break with or without the ball.

  8. Walter Says:

He’s a better route runner than Palmer but Palmer is more explosive. They’ll both be utilized a ton this season.

Solid performance from both receivers. Trask looked a little rusty at times, but what do you expect with standing on the sidelines with a clipboard his entire career? Woolford’s rollouts were great calls. Coen is the real deal. I do not miss Canales.

  10. Dave Pear Says:

The only thing about Trashk that’s similar to Tebow is his NFL future.

Reminiscent of Mike Glennon? Yes, only slower.

Hope so, eventually Big Mike and Chris will move on into retirement. Good to have a couple young studs to pass the torch to

He only played a handful of plays, but he looks so natural and smooth out there, really really reminds me of Godwin.

But my God does he have no sense of fashion. You got the awful hairline thing, and that dumb goatee setup where he looks like a homeless pirate. He needs to get a fashion adviser pronto.
