Bucs Will Release Randy Gregory

August 17th, 2024

Booted.

Good news revealed on tonight’s Buccaneers-Jaguars preseason game broadcast on WFLA-TV.

Rondé Barber and Chris Myers shared that the Bucs will cut M.I.A. free agent edge rusher Randy Gregory next week and recoup most or all of the signing bonus they gave the veteran.

Gregory didn’t report to training camp and this sure sounds like the best possible outcome.

Perhaps most fun is that on the snap after the announcement, second-year outside linebacker/edge rusher José Ramirez sacked Jaguars backup quarterback Mac Jones.

Terrible signing….wreaked of desperation. Guy hasn’t done jack in the league except sell potential to teams, not sure why we even kicked the tires.

  13. David Says:

Not my money, it was worth the gamble. It’s not going to hurt them in anyway.

Although, not really sure if it was worth a gamble. If you think about it, the guy has never done a single thing in the NFL. He has been “potential“ since drafted. So maybe they should’ve went a different route

Now we just need to go out & sign Greg Hardy.🤣

  19. Tony Says:

I said all along the Bucs should be giving Watts & Ramirez a chance & they were playing well. Even though it was against backups. Gregory & Tryon probably wouldn’t of even had a sack.

  20. LakelandSteve Says:

Given his history I don’t understand why he was signed in the first place. I thought we were going to end up with another Dexter Manley. Thank God he didn’t show.

  21. Joe Says:

Given his history I don’t understand why he was signed in the first place.

    THANK YOU!!!!!

  22. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

If the Bucs don’t get everything back, they got robbed.

  23. Pewter Power Says:

Gregory wanted to bake with baker and licht almost set the stage. Honestly what was he thinking with that signing

  24. Capt.Tim Says:

Man, I’m gonna miss that guy!

  25. heyjude Says:

Gregory was first on the Cowboys, then Broncos, then 49ers, and then the Bucs. His fight began under the Broncos because he wanted alternative methods for his mental disorder versus Opioids. It seemed like the “lemon dance” was done after the Broncos.

I watched a YouTube video of Gregory when signed with the Bucs. He was excited about coming here and working under Coach Bowles. I bet he would have been good. However, with ongoing litigation, his attorneys may have counseled him to not play. Unsure though. We don’t know everything.

He became an activist for himself and others in the NFL that do want alternative methods in helping their mental problems. Maybe he can do more from the outside now to help others. Wish him luck with that.

  26. stvcl Says:

Smoke ‘um if ya got ‘um!

  27. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

It’s about time. This is one guy Jason never should have signed.

  28. Arik Says:

    Hasson Reddick?

Give the Jets JTS and a 5th round

    LFG!!!!

  29. Dave Pear Says:

Maybe give him a shot at covering the deep middle zone. No one else can do it.

  30. JD Still Says:

It’s time to admit it, the Bucs powers that be got played, Gregory never had any intention to show up or play.
