Bucky Irving: Bucs Offense Will Explode

August 29th, 2024

Bucs offense brewing.

Bucs rookie running back Bucky Irving knows something about a good offense.

When Irving was at Oregon, Dan Lanning’s outfit had a lethal offense, one of the best in college football. If the team wasn’t pounding people on the ground with Irving, it was lighting defenses up like the Fourth of July with quarterback Bo Nix.

So Joe wanted to start chugging beers hearing of what Irving thought of the Bucs new offense with offensive coordinator Liam Coen.

“I feel like this offense is explosive,” Irving said at One Buc Palace yesterday. “We [have] a lot of guys that can make plays in a variety of different ways.

“From the wide receivers, from the running back room, quarterback, the guys out front blocking, protecting. … I mean, we’re going to be a very explosive offense.”

Hot damn that gets Joe’s juices flowing. After two years of a plodding offense, how cool will it be if the Bucs let the hounds loose?

Joe does know the few times last year that then-offensive coordinator Dave Canales opened up the offense, the Bucs showed they could hang with just about anyone.

Could it be that Coen sees the talent he has and said to himself, “Why are we pounding the ball to nowhere for? Let’s use the talent we have.”

If so, Joe can only respond, “Amen, brother!”

    “Amen, brother!”

  2. Todd Says:

I’m going to miss Dave Canales’ predictable play calling. I love third and sevens. And punts are my favorite plays.

  3. VOT Says:

I see this OC with far more of a killer instinct, attacking weaknesses that he creates with formations, motions and play calls

Add that to our weapons and this O should be near the top of the league

  4. HC Grover Says:

    Sounds good…make it so.

  5. Scott Says:

A passing game and run game? Wow that would be awesome

I’m telling you guys! Before the year is out we will be sitting atop the league standings and I think we have a chance to go undefeated. We finally have a team that will score touchdowns instead of fiield goals. Did you notice that we won the toss and elected to receive the ball? I think that will be our mentality this season; get ahead and turn the hounds loose on defense. That’s when the sacks and turnovers start piling up, when they have to pass.
Because of our lane offense last year, we weren’t in many of those situations. It was usually us who had to pass and they let their hounds loose on us.

Road to the NFC Championship game is about to begin!

    LFG!!!

  8. Ryan Smith Says:

I have a feeling we gonna lose Coen after this year. I think we make a very deep playoff run and possibly ever SB run depending how the team progresses.

  9. Bucs Guy Says:

Bucs traded JTS to 9ers for a 6th rd pick?

  10. rrsrq Says:

I like the fact that Baker can make the call, audible at the line, and get the team into the best situation. I think that will add to the team’s explosiveness. How they use Kam with the benn’d around may look different too.

  11. BigBucsFan Says:

I couldn’t find if that was confirmed or still in talks I’m not sure if I like jts going for a six rounder. Pissed ass don’t show he did a lot but he was all over the field good and past coverage maybe not great and sex but good at creating hurries and flushing out the pocket. We all know the niners are going to be a super bowl or close to it so that’s going to be a very late pick in the sixth round. Curious from the rest of buck Nation what are they think about this trade

  12. RustyRhinos Says:

3 incomplete passes equal what again Joe? A Turnover, say it just ain’t so Joe.

Our Defense works best when, Joe’s?
When the other team’s offense is “one-dimensional”?

It is like when we take away their running game, and they are forced to pass, and we can “pin our ears back and rush the passer”.

Wait a moment does that not make our Offense “one-dimensional” too? Or have I missed something?

    GO!!!!!BUCS!!!!!RUNNING&PASSING!!!!!

  13. heyjude Says:

Love the words from Bucky. All in on Coen and our offense! Go Bucs!

  14. Dave Pear Says:

Canalwater is gonna have so much fun having Bryce hand off .

  15. garro Says:

In Bucky’s vast NFL experience… He thinks we are explosive? His opinions count for squat. Get back in the huddle rookie.

Is he aware we did not score a TD in opening drives last year? That aint explosive. First quarter TDs are crap too. We have not had explosive since Brady walked out the door kid. It is however fine if you and some other rooks can show me explosive offense.

    Geez

    Go Bucs!

  16. stpetebucfan Says:

“Is he aware we did not score a TD in opening drives last year?”

I suspect he is aware. I also expect he is aware the Bucs have a new OC!!!
A QB with a year’s experience with the team, a retooled OL that should be far superior to last year’s OL.

OK young dudes it’s time to go to the music vault for some lyrics…before your time grasshoppers.

Chad and Jeremy from the 60’s “YESTERDAY’S GONE” !!!

  17. Tim Says:

Whatcha gonna do brother, when Baker Mayfield and the Bucs offense RUNS WILD ON YOU??!!

  18. SlyPirate Says:

    I don’t disagree but …

Bucky is a rookie. Take that into account. He’s never faced a real NFL defense.

The best college team college would get obliterated by the worst NFL team. He doesn’t know what he doesn’t know. I hope he’s right, though.

  19. adam from ny Says:

    ummm…….

air coryell X a classic bears rushing attack…

one can dream before september 8th

  20. Cobraboy Says:

    How would a rook know?

Sit down, Bucky, just shut up and play.

  21. Pickgrin Says:

25+ ppg average puts the Bucs at 11-12 wins

    Its doable IMO….

Defense is going to be very good and very stingy this year – perhaps even top 5 in points allowed…

If the offense can be even in the range of top 10 for points scored – look out – because this 2024 Bucs team might just make a legit run at a Championship THIS YEAR!

Excited to see how this season unfolds. LFG!!!

  22. Matt k Says:

I hope glazers keep Coen this off-season if he has good success by paying similar $ as a head coach because it sucks getting poached.

  23. GoneGator Says:

I think the offense is going to be full of surprises this year IF the O-line can gel.

Don’t be surprised to see more 2 tight end sets than a Mcvay rooted system normally run’s and our screen game should be lethal.

  24. Shane Callahan Says:

    Amen, brother!

    @Bucs Guy
    @BigBucsFan

We were never in talks. It was a n article on Heavy where they said that the 49ers should persue JTS due to injuries and it would benefit both teams. There was never any talks
