If they come out flat, I’m gonna be a little annoyed. Yes, it’s preseason, but coming out flat has been an issue with this team.

  4. Irishmist Says:

Kevin King gets burned for a TD. It’s nice to know some things never change.

  12. shelly Says:

Looks like one is a Dolphins feed and the other is a Bucs feed.

  13. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

    Why is evans not playing

    ——-

Cause he’s Mike Evans, a future HOFer, and doesn’t need to play. He’s fine.

  22. BucsFan81 Says:

    First team offense on point.

  23. Toiletbowle Says:

What a change of pace with all the starters! Looks like football!

  24. Shak Says:

    JM is a monster!

  25. Rod Munch Says:

Man does McMillin look like Godwin.

  26. CallTheSaltTruck Says:

Love the throw to McMillan, great grab. But the big thing is getting the PUSH on 3rd and 1 early in the drive. I feel like we got stopped SO often. Also, TD OPENING DRIVE. Let’s GO!

  27. Rod Munch Says:

YES PERFECT OPENING DRIVE, SPECTACULAR PLAY CALLING, PERFECT RUNNINGBACK AND QUARTERBACK PLAY! GET ON THE BANDWAGON NOW, SUPER BOWL IS INCOMING!!!!

    #TEAMPOSITIVE!

  28. Shak Says:

We are going to be so good!

  29. Dom Says:

Offensive line looks so much better

  30. BucsFan81 Says:

We can pull the starters on offense I seen enough. Get them read for the commanders

  31. Irishmist Says:

    Barton moving bodies.

  32. NJbucs23 Says:

    Wow a opening drive td

    Holy crap

  33. Chad Says:

What’s this, an opening drive touch down good mixture of run and pass and play action. I dig it

  34. Rod Munch Says:

Is Miami playing their starters, are was that opening drive just due to going against a bunch of scrubs?

  35. Sumeon4HOF Says:

    Barton Ballin on opening drive

  36. Bucs 95 Says:

Probably wont see the first team offense again ☹️

  37. infomeplease Says:

It’s gonna be a great season.

  38. Simeon4HOF Says:

Barton Ballin, White running the ball better thus far

  39. JA Says:

Coaches should have a pregame agreement to match first team against first team. The drive was great, but against no Miami starters on defense.
Hard to make a rational judge against backups.

  40. NJbucs23 Says:

So much different with Barton in there. Get him and mauch out in space for screen plays

  41. Rod Munch Says:

Oh… looking at the tackle numbers… these were 2nd and 3rd stringers.

Still, better to look good vs the scrubs than not look good, but doesn’t tell us much.

  42. TBSwarm Says:

@Rod, yeah it’s the backups on Miami D.

  43. NCBuc Says:

@joe….. RW1 looks great right now! So we should count him out?

  44. TBSwarm Says:

Playing against backups or not, that was a solid opening drive

  45. infomeplease Says:

    Great D

  46. Adirtyrat71 Says:

#37 we saw enough of him last week
    Get him out

  47. Bucs 95 Says:

Ughh here comes boring kyle trask 😒

  48. TBSwarm Says:

My got Vea trucked that guy

  49. JA Says:

And no Tua or starting Miami offense. Damn.
Just pull our starters and stay healthy.
This game is meaningless personified … unless you’re trying to make one of the teams, that is.

  50. Rod Munch Says:

Wow, are they joking – that’s it for the starters already? Can you imagine buying tickets for this game after being told the starters would play – and you get one series vs backups.

    Unbelievable.

  51. TBSwarm Says:

Give the starters one more drive each and pull em

  52. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

    Vita! OMG LOL!!!!

  53. LfgBucs Says:

It’s been a while since we’ve seen the Bucs score in the first drive. Go Bucs!

  54. ghost Says:

starters rolled em, sit em and bring on the commies!

  55. Shak Says:

Barton and Mauch pushed those dudes around like bulldozers! D cleaned up! Goood job starters, see you game 1!

  56. Chad Says:

Rod munch your either always complaining or being a sarcastic troll. Give it a rest already. Why risk any possible injury if we don’t need to. Opening drive looked good, scored a td. Let’s be happy about it

  57. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Rod Munch, was thinking the same thing.

  58. TS_Bucs Says:

Umm Vita forklift the & $#! Out of that guy. So did Logan, wow he is stronger.

  59. JA Says:

    Munch—

Those tickets go for $5 outside.
You’d go far broker buying a beer.
However, the parsimonious crowd is demanding their money back as we speak.

  60. Bucs 95 Says:

    Cut trask

  61. Bucs 95 Says:

If something happends too trask at least will see baker again as wolford is out for the game

  62. NJbucs23 Says:

  63. Shak Says:

    Daaaammnnnnn

  64. Bucs 95 Says:

  65. Rod Munch Says:

Banks has a neck like Mike Glennon.

  66. infomeplease Says:

Banks got a pop to him.

  67. Rod Munch Says:

Oh get up your dramaqueen. You can always tell the players on the bubble, they’re the ones that stay down after big hits so they can at least get an injury settlement instead of getting cut with no payoff.

  68. Buccaneer rick Says:

Who just layed that guy out lmao what a play

  69. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Well, at least we finally know for sure about Trask.

I’m out…tuned in to see starters and they yanked them after a single series. May as well have let them be with their families and have the night off.

Bowles lost points with me tonight. I would have understood a quarter, but not a series. Ball-less Bowles.

    Later!!!!

Well, at least we finally know for sure about Trask.

    ———-

Hopefully he’s ready to go since the likelihood of Baker being healthy for two seasons in a row is pretty unlikely. Not rooting against him at all, just the reality of his career says he’s going to get hurt at some point.

For Trask, when you’re gameplanning and playing with Evans and Godwin, and the starting offensive line, it’s a different game. I wouldn’t take much from preseason for anyone.

  72. Sumeon4HOF Says:

There’s a Sack for Braswell. Hope that eases Joe up some

  73. Esteban85 Says:

And if a starter got injured y’all would be roasting Todd’a nuts. Guy can’t win

Dammit I totally missed the start of the game! (Still at work)

Did we score on our 1st drive?

  80. GoneGator Says:

Biggest takeaway from this thread so far is that the starters looked good, in synch!

And that Rod Munch really needs attention.

  81. Rod Munch Says:

Baker Boi(s) want every QB that isn’t Baker off the roster because they view everyone as a threat to take his job. It’s very odd that they’re so scared of that while at the same time telling everyone how Baker is better at this point of his career than Brady or Brees, yet they’re worried about a guy who played like one half of football in 3 years.

  82. Shak Says:

Did we score on our 1st drive?

    ———

First drive was amazing, opened with running it up the middle three times in a row.

Actually, it was great, they moved right down the field – but it was against the Dolphins backups so its hard to take much from it, but they moved the ball at ease.

  84. unbelievable Says:

Nevermind I read the comments. Cool!

Guessing it was only 1 drive for the starters?

  85. Bucs 95 Says:

    Trask a threat 🤣😂

  86. GoneGator Says:

#37? Again.? He stunk up the secondary last week in Jax.
    Bless him

  87. unbelievable Says:

Oh Dolphins didn’t play any starters at all?

    Meh.

Alright well still good to have the starters take a couple hits before real football starts. We’ll see how effective Camp Cupcake was I guess in a few weeks…

  88. Shak Says:

    ——–

Yep, one 3-minute drive is all the starters need to get ready for the season, according to Todd Bowles.

  92. Rod Munch Says:

Bucky is so quick with those cuts. Again, wish we’d see him vs non-scrubs, but I think his skills will translate. Vision plus quickness is an excellent combo for RBs.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen the Bucs score in the first drive. Go Bucs

At least score a TD on the first drive. Last first drive TD was Preseason Game 3. Mayfield took them down on 6 of 6 passing and threw a touchdown.

Game 1 when he had to put on his big boy pants first 5 drives were 3 three and outs, 1 four play drive and a punt, 1 four play drive for zero yards after defense gave them the ball in Viking territory.for a Field goal.

I have seen nothing different than 2023 yet. Three weeks and week two I’ll know.

  95. shelly Says:

Nice drive Kyle given the scrubs you’re playing with! Next drive TD!

  96. Leighroy Says:

Fanofthesouth, false unfortunately. You saw an opening drive TD. When did you see that in 2023?

    lol it’s preseason, I know 😘

  97. infomeplease Says:

    Kick coverage looks grim today..

  98. LouisFriend Says:

In the regular season, just kick it through the end zone. This new kickoff rule has no benefits for the kicking team.

  99. J Says:

    Braswell would picked that

  100. shelly Says:

So Baker plays with the starters and throws two dink and dunks and one to the sideline and that’s it? LMAO

  112. ElioT Says:

Good to see these youngsters getting after it.

  113. Bucs 95 Says:

Trask staring down a receiver almost got sacked

  114. Rod Munch Says:

Why on 4th and inches are they in shotgun?

Come out in goalline and QB sneak it or run it, or playaction. I hate shotgun on 4th and really short, takes away the run.

They’re saying on TV that Johnson is made the team.

For Cody, I guess he’ll make the team, but I don’t really get it. Sure, he’s good vs the scrubs, but the guy has been around for 6 years, has one catch. I don’t see a breakout at that age, and I can’t believe anyone would take him off the Bucs if he was on the practice squad. But we shall see, not rooting against him, but I just see a guy who looks good vs future FedEx employees, not someone who is going to get open on Sundays.

I saw more this week from Gholston, just sounds like he really wants the snaps vs different players – doesn’t sound like he’s on the bubble or anything. Sounds like if he wasn’t insisting on playing, they’d sit him – hopefully that’s all it is.

  143. Chad Says:

Shelly just praying for the downfall of baker lol. Trask is doing his work with second and third stringers, can’t take anything from it, just like you can’t take anything from baker playing against the 2nd stringers. Why can’t you just accept the fact that trask can be a very serviceable back up qb to baker and cheer for both guys? And baker didn’t sit because it’s who he is to his own detriment. He’s a baller and wants to be on the field.

Onielbuc, back with the baker hate. Why can’t I like baker starting and like trask as a back up qb. We look really decent at the majority of positions on the field. Season starts and you get to see baker do work and trask hand baker the water bottle after scoring a touchdown.

  146. Chad Says:

I don’t know why some of y’all can’t root for Kyle Trask when he’s playing like do Baker Mayfield?? Baker is the starter we all know it so you don’t have to be afraid when Trask plays good. Bowles will rather lose with Baker than win with Trask . Bowles didn’t draft Kyle Trask so we went with Baker even though Trask was better last year with the starters. If Baker plays bad he will be the starter as long as Bowles is the HC . Now if Bowles get fired I can promise you the next coach ain’t keeping Baker Mayfield as his long term answer. He’s going to draft his own quarterback he’s not going to be link to Baker Mayfield just like Bowles done Trask .

The Dolphins are such cupcakes they didn’t even play their starters tonight – so that’s a bad argument for being soft.

But why are they all going down? It’s called injury settlement. If you can stay down for a minute or two, you can claim injury and get a settlement, as opposed to just getting cut with no settlement. I’m sure we’ll see future Wendy’s employees on the Bucs doing that as well in the 2nd half.

Rod nobody said Trask was better than Brady. Let’s not be ridiculous.

    ———

I was here, I remember arguing with those idiots, and yes, there were tons of them mad when Brady unretired and said the Bucs needed to move on and play Trask because he’s better, etc.

Trask had spend 2 years learning how to thrown an NFL football as his soft rainbow passes he threw in college were never going to work in the NFL.

With that said, Trask has improved greatly in terms of throwing the football. I think if Baker gets hurt and he has a full week to prepare for a game that he’ll do OK. Also I think he’s going to play for a long time in the NFL, probably never be a star or anything, but will just stick around sort of like Mike Glennon who lasted 8 years.

  167. Tbbucs3 Says:

Rod, Baker was 100% an upgrade from a washed Tom Brady in 2022.

That doesnt mean that Baker is a better quarterback than Brady cause Brady is literally the greatest QB of all time.

Dont play dumb, every great QB has a washed year like Drew Brees and Peyton Manning did

Rod, nobody in the history of internet comments has ever said Baker is better than Tom Brady, anytime you see that they are referring to Bradys washed year at age 45.

    —————

You literally just said Baker is better than Brady… literally, just one post before. You can read that yourself.

Also, even if you’re talking about 2022 Brady vs 2023 Baker, you’re still wrong.

    Brady, QBR 2022 – 54.6
    Baker, QBR 2023 – 54.3

Oh wait, but QBR skews to the running QB so that must by why Baker lose the matchup…

There’s literally nothing Baker has ever done that should ever be compared to Brady, and this is why the Baker Boi(s) bring on so much hatred for themselves. Never ever ever should you mention a player like Baker in the same sentence as the best to ever play the game.

  169. Tbbucs3 Says:

Rod, you litterally can’t comprehend basic sentences.

  170. Tbbucs3 Says:

Is Baker Mayfield better than 2022 Brady? Yes
Is he better than a prime Brady? No cause no person who has ever picked up a a football is.

  171. Tbbucs3 Says:

And yeah Brady racking up all those garbage time stats in 2022 was super impressive

  172. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

That’s a pick but I don’t expect them to overturn it.

Is Baker Mayfield better than 2022 Brady? Yes

    ———

    LOL! He wasn’t better.

    Brady, 4694 yards, 25 TDs, 9 INTs, 54.6 QBR
    Baker, 4044 yards, 28 TDs, 10 INTs, 54.4 QBR

Brady had to play with Leftwich, who is literally out of the NFL he’s so terrible, while Baker had Canales, who was a huge upgrade, and is now a head coach – and even with that Baker STILL lost the head to head matchup.

And again, there’s no reason to ever ever mention a Baker in the same sentence as Brady. Baker was middling last year, nothing special, and you’re talking about him being superior to the greatest to ever play the game.

Again, this is why the Baker Boi(s) bring so much hatred on themselves.

  174. Chad Says:

Rod I also watched baker win a playoff game last season and seen Brady lose a playoff game the season before. I mean are we just looking up qbr only to determine who was better a washed up Brady or a determined baker looking to prove himself. Tom brady is the greatest, baker will never be the better qb for their careers. I mean Brady’s kryptonite is Eli manning though. But other than that Brady is just phenomenal

  175. Rod Munch Says:

Man, some terrible tackling tonight. But that’s what you get when you’re not tackling in practice.

Guess Im ok with cutting Trey Palmer

    ———-

Really, cause I saw Baker choke in the biggest moment of his career. Ask the Lions if they’d rather have faced Brady or Baker on that last drive.

BTW, the Eagles literally had a historic collapse. They were 1-6 in their final 7 games, with the only win vs the awful Redskins team.

  178. Tbbucs3 Says:

Rod, maybe someday you’ll find out that 28 TDs is more than 25.

And literally the only reason Brady threw for more yards is cause the Bucs lead the league in pass attempts by a mile that year.

Every game Brady played in in 22 was a punt fest, most people with eyes can see that Baker was a clear upgrade from a old disinterested Brady

  179. Tucker Says:

Crazy in here this evening this fan base is all over the place. Go bucs

  180. Tbbucs3 Says:

    ———–

    No you don’t cut Palmer.

Johnson was already told he’s made the team, according to TV.

I’d assume Jarrett has made the team as well, although perhaps I’m wrong.

As for Cody and Ryan Miller, just cut them both, neither is anything special and neither could get open on Sundays. In any case no one is picking them off the PS, so just put them there if you want to keep them.

The final spot should go to Shepard if he’s healthy. The guy can be a legit #3 and a real weapon as a #4 if he can stay healthy. It’s a big but, obviously.

  183. Chad Says:

Rod it’s cool to bring up baker making a big mistake in the lions game, why over look Brady barely throwing 50 percent against the cowboys with a qbr of 25.4. Brady threw the ball 66 times. I mean Brady didn’t play any better than baker did against the lions. But why can’t you just admit baker was better for the Bucs last season than Brady was for the Bucs the season before?

  184. Tbbucs3 Says:

“why can’t you just admit baker was better for the Bucs last season than Brady was for the Bucs the season before?”

Because the logical part of Rod Munchs brain is broken

  185. Chad Says:

Rod it’s cool to bring up baker making a big mistake in the lions game, why over look Brady barely throwing 50 percent against the cowboys with a qbr of 25.4.

    ———-

The Cowboys defense was 6th in the NFL and 3rd in sacks in 2022 – and Brady had Leftwich calling the plays, which means the Cowboys knew every play that was called before the game even started.

The Lions meanwhile were what, 29th in pass defense? I mean there’s a reason that they traded for Davis afterall.

But, all I said was who do you think the Lions wanted to see on that field with the game on the line? I can tell you – they wanted to see Baker Mayfield, not Tom Brady, not even the Jan 2024 version of Brady who hadn’t played in a year.

Again, no one should ever never ever bring up a middling QB like Baker when talking about Tom Brady. This is what brings on the hatred. If people just said, hey Baker had a nice year last year, hopefully he can improve, there literally wouldn’t be any pushback to that. But it’s not, it’s ‘dunking’ on Brady, comparing Baker to Drew Brees, just stupid stuff like that.

  188. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

The team was better in 23, by a little bit, regardless of your feelings about the QB.

    Shepard is washed up. Bye.

    ———

According to every single thing I read – in practice Shepard looked amazing, was the 3rd best guy on the field, including being head of McMillan (which is expected as he’s a rookie – and Shepard was a really really good player).

Again, just a question of health, if he’s good to go or not. In any case, no one is wasting a roster spot to pick Cody or Ryan off the Bucs PS, so you just keep those guys there and hope, pray to Jesus, you never need to call them up. Certainly not Cody, who has had a very nice preseason, but he’s been around for 6 years, has 1 catch.

  190. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

I’m not choosing receivers, but if you are hurt all the time, then you are washed up. Literally never heard that he was “amazing ” til just now. Highly unlikely.

    ———-

Let me rephrase that, he was very very good early on, looked like he was on the way to a great career.

But I agree, if he’s hurt, then you cut him. I’m just saying if he’s ready to go, you keep him. The team practices so little, who knows what the real status is of anyone.

In any case you’re talking about a 6th WR, and hopefully that person never plays.

    In 2022 they were 13th.

    They vastly improved.

But I will agree, they’d have improved a lot more without that moron Neal single handedly giving up a bunch of long TDs.

Defense gave up a ton of yards, but were able to get a bunch of redzone stops, at least keeping opposing teams to FGs in any case.

But the biggest thing was playing the NFC South vs a bunch of awful offenses that couldn’t score TDs.

Look take this year if he plays good I will say he played good and if he plays bad I’m going to say he played bad ain’t nothing wrong with that and that doesn’t mean I’m not a real bucs fan. Some of the people on here are only here for Baker Mayfield they don’t care nothing about the bucs. I’m a bucs fan I don’t care about the players more than I do the bucs.

  229. Rod Munch Says:

I think these guy pocket like an extra $5k or $10k for faking an injury – and they don’t make jack in the preseason, so that’s good money. I wouldn’t even doubt that some coaches pull guys they like to the side and tell them to lay down in the final minutes of the game since they’re never going to make it in the NFL and that’s the only pay day they’ll ever see.

  230. HC Grover Says:

    It like soccer

  235. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

  237. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

    Thanks Jose

  238. Rod Munch Says:

So asking the AI what players would get as part of an injury settlement, even if they’re an UDFA on a min wage contract … they’d get… $44k for each week. So if a groin injury was going to keep them out for 3 weeks of real football, even if they had no chance of making the team, they’d still pocket $132k.

Damn, for that, ouch my groin… and my head, and back, and hamstring… and liver!

  239. Rod Munch Says:

I’ve never looked into this before, but I did know teams don’t play guys for the preseason, so I was wondering how the camp meat even survive as I assume most don’t have any money, and they’re not making any income. However, the scrubs do get a per diem – which I thought might be like $50 or something for food, but it’s actually $2000/week. So they are making like $12k for 6 weeks of camp, that’s not too bad, considering the team is also giving them food and housing as well.

That is according to the AI, so it could be correct or the AI just made it up, no way of knowing.

  240. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Gracias el fanatico Bucaneros de Jose! Football is life!

  241. Ugo Says:

Trask played well after a few bad decisions in the first few drives and has shown he can be a decent backup qb if Baker gets roughed up for a couple of weeks. I now feel better about the fact thatTrask should be able to hold it down for a few weeks.

  242. Anyhony Says:

Everyone who is worried that our starters hardly played this preseason (undeniably they looked good when they were in) don’t forget who we play in week one. Shane Callahan Says: “the Traskers on this site say that Trask outplayed Baker”

Well, they both finished with very high passer ratings, Baker slightly higher than Kyle, however Baker did it playing only one series with the starters, whereas Kyle did it over essentially a full game playing with backups and camp meat, so that argument can be made.
