Another Tone-Setting Night For Graham Barton

August 24th, 2024

So what you’re seeing in the screenshot above is Bucs rookie center Graham Barton blocking and clearing a massive hole for Rachaad White running to daylight after catching a basic screen pass last night.

Man, the whole play was excecuted perfectly, but Joe was impressed to see Barton effortlessly far out in space getting the job done — far from where he snappeed the ball to Baker Mayfield.

Earlier in this opening drive, Barton, who formally was named the starting center this week, blocked two players on one play that led to White’s longest run of the night (5 yards).

Overall, his snaps were clean, his pass-blocking was tight and his smile was big on the sidelines after the Bucs’ opening-drive touchdown, a feat the team hadn’t accomplished all last season.

Joe rewatched the game and feels very comfortable saying Barton got an A grade from coaches in his limited work with the starters before they were pulled to rest up for opening day on Sept. 8. That should help every Bucs fans sleep well this weekend.

This is really going to be a high octane offense. Go Bucs!!!

  2. Darncat Says:

I was hoping they’d draft this guy and now he looks like the big man in the center this offense needs to take flight! LFG BUCS!!!

  3. Walter Says:

The most important mission this off-season was fixing the impotent running game. If we are able to consistently churn out 4 yards per rush, this offense will be dangerous.

And playing against scrub mentality bossy

Typical Boss , Always a negative nancy

  7. adam from ny Says:

yeah the line’s looking stout and somewhat bullish…gotta love it…

and it seems like we found our guy, as far as being the new jensen of the line…

yeah he’s not front and center – he’s off on the right end…

    goedeke is our new jensen…

the new chippy bully on the front lines who’s gonna get under opponents skin…

all good lines must have a edgy crazy bastid spitting glass, getting in opponents heads and talking yang

  8. Kno one Says:

If you actually watch the first touchdown run,he missed his block and ended up on his knees..so sick of this fake narrative that Hainsey was the problem last year..I can show you footage of Hainsey doing the same thing… Except not missing his second block… Hainsey wasn’t to blame for the bucs short comings last year and Barton isn’t gonna be this years savior..

  9. Hodad Says:

Our whole Oline looked like the running of the bulls in Spain! You know where people get mauled by running bulls in the street. The Dolphins were road kill on that first drive. Mauch was running downfield, Wirfs, Luke, pitty the fool that got in their way. Liked accepting the ball, going on offense, letting the bulls run wild, and set the pace. Give our defense early leads, instead of falling behind early, watch our rush come alive. Barton makes the pro bowl as a rookie, saying it now.

  10. BAKERSBucs says Says:

We don’t need a savior we just need him to do his job let’s say that team looked tight that is important did there job on the 1st series hard to ask for more than that.why is that every 5ime I canew post name it is in line with that boss sys jackass. Only scrub I c is the guy with post name Boss say Boss of what bs commentary u r post r old news

  11. BAKERSBucs says Says:

Oh yes & vita walked thru his comp that what happens when u work on u r off season

  12. geno711 Says:

So glad Hainsey is out of the starting lineup. No one expects Barton to be perfect but already better than Hainsey in the preseason. Can’t wait to how much better he will be in 4 months.

  13. Capt.Tim Says:

Barton is a huge upgrade from Hainsey right now, as a rookie.
He will be even better witha year or two experience.
Wirfs, Goedeke, and Wirfs are gonna be unstoppable.
    Thats fantastic news.

Mauch and Bredesen are still not impressing anyone. Even against backups.
    Thats the bad news.

Klien and Delgato are playing against backups.
But they look outstanding. I wanna see them against starters!
    Thats more great news

  14. Leighroy Says:

Graham Barton = the “bow” of the pirate ship. Our “hull” of an O-line is looking a lot better for Captain Mayfield to pilot this year. McMillan looks like another shiny cannon to fire at opposing defenses too. Nice end to preseason.

I’ve really liked this guy since draft night. Seems like a really good guy from a good family and easy to root for

Not sure what games you’ve watched but those 2 dudes are doing just fine imo.

  18. heyjude Says:

Loving Graham! Agree with dbbuc711, I have liked him since draft night too. Loved his interview last night too. He is so happy to be here, and we are all loving him being here too.

  19. SenileSenior Says:

Think about our offensive line, our wide receivers and our running backs together. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Our offense should put on a terrific show this year!

Go Bucs! Go for the gold!

  20. Veniçebucfan Says:

The o line during the first drive were mauling the Miami d line. This year the line should be a huge strength, enabling time to throw and holes to run through ….will be fun to watch ..
Keep bringing the disrespect, this team will take their milk money and eat their lunch!

  21. ^^mtn^^ Says:

When Barton & Hainsey were rotating every other series 1st 2 games, the o-line did better overall when Barton was in.

    It was pretty obvious

  22. Buccaneer rick Says:

I’m so glad we didn’t get jpj I’ve been watching a lil of his play it’s meh

  23. Saskbucs Says:

    @ Kno One…. Is that you Mrs.Hainsey?

  24. ^^mtn^^ Says:

    Ain’t that the truth rick.

Think he’ll have trouble staying healthy. Teams knew this

  25. WhatTheBuc Says:

Kno one- Hainsey was the lowest graded center in the NFL last season. I’m not sure what games you’ve been watching but stick with your day job. Did Hainsey get beat every play? Absolutely not. Did the Bucs get any push up the middle in the short yardage run game? Not once last year.

  26. JimBobBuc Says:

Barton looked good against the twos but Washington starters will be a real test.

  27. Tony Says:

Yeah Barton was somebody I would’ve considered if he was still there. I really thought he was going to Philadelphia or Miami.

  28. Mike Says:

It’s clear Barton is going to be a very good player for the Bucs. So far, he’s passed every test. Next up is Washington!

  29. GoneGator Says:

Love seeing those big guys head hunting 15 yards down field 👍🏼

  30. Dave Pear Says:

    Another jackpot for Jason.

  31. Oneilbuc Says:

Barton has prove me wrong so far I didn’t like the pick because he didn’t play center in college but one year and I never liked changing player positions on the offensive line. But he’s been playing good can’t wait to watch him play this year .

  32. garro Says:

I’m glad you caught that Joe! I caught it and had to rewind a couple of times to get the number of that dude who absolutely decleated that Dolphin. Wow!

That why Joe makes the big Bucs folks! Pun intended.

    Go Bucs!

  33. Ed McSherry Says:

It’s night n’ day: Hainsey looks clumsy and off-balance on every play, and Barton’s athletically attacking and pushing forward, winning on every play.
