“The Work He Puts In In The Offseason Is Unmatched”

Todd Bowles

Who’s the hardest offseason worker on the Bucs?

Todd Bowles has an answer.

Joe simply asked Bowles today what he saw on film from Chris Godwin in yesterday’s opening day of training camp.

Bowles had plenty to say and noted that Godwin is king of offseason preparation.

“Chris looked good. Chris looked good. I think he’s leaner,” Bowles said. “I don’t think he’s lost weight. I think he’s leaner. He’s quick. I think he’s finally healthy and he looks great. I mean, the work he puts in in the offseason is unmatched. The work he puts in, the way he came into camp right now and the way he’s picking up the system has been great.”

Joe asked Godwin if he did anything different this summer in his preparation. Godwin replied that he changes up his routines every year to stay fresh.

He also told assembled media that he feels significantly healthier this summer, his third following major knee surgery.

Where can I get that Jordan bucs hoodie?

Isn’t Godwin’s wife Mariah a trainer? Maybe she is kicking his behind in the offseason.

His name got mentioned a few times today too. I’m certainly not worried that Cris will disappear when the pads come on. In fact, the only thing that worries me is his cap hit. According to OTC his cap hit is like 27 or 28 million this year.

That is one nice hoodie. Godwin being so lit already means this Offense is going to be better for Bucs than Canales’s

Oh… that is fantastic news if true. I was saying this in another thread but only seeing this now – but Godwin, last year, to me never looked right. He looked a tick slower and less quick and never fully healthy, so for Bowles to say that, to say he looks quicker, that could be huge if he’s truly 100% again. I mean Godwin is 1K receiver even at 80%, but a 100% Godwin, in a 17-game schedule, could get you 1500 yards.

Have to smile at this one. Bowles will never say anything remotely negative about Godwin again … or at least as long as he’s married.
