Rachaad White Tutoring Bucky Irving

July 30th, 2024

Bucky Irving has unique counselor.

Man, Joe is really digging how the veterans on the Bucs are helping the very same rookies who may take their starting jobs.

The vibe Joe gets from this Bucs team seems like they are very tight. That’s a good thing.

Last week, how Jalen McMillan told Joe one of the veterans mentoring and guiding him through the early stages of his rookie year is Trey Palmer.

It is McMillan, along with Sterling Shepard and Palmer, who are battling for the No. 3 receiver spot. Yet there is Palmer, a second-year player, giving McMillan a helping hand.

Well, it’s not just Palmer being a good teammate. So is running back Rachaad White. Yesterday, fourth-round draft pick Bucky Irving said White has worked with him and is often providing tips to navigate his first NFL training camp.

“He’s helped me out a lot,” Irving said of White, whose starting gig isn’t exactly etched in stone. “He always just tells me [to] be me. Don’t change how I run. I know what got me here and [to] be the [running] back that I’m here to be.

“Any time I come back and I have a run and I ask him what [I] could’ve done better he always coaches me up. Him and Chase [Edmonds] do a great job of doing that each time I ask [those] guys any type of questions.”

Let’s be real: If Palmer or White turned a cold shoulder to rookies trying to take away their starting gigs, would you blame them? Joe wouldn’t.

Joe’s not saying that should be the appropriate way to treat a teammate, but hey, it’s not like starting jobs in the NFL are as easy to get as a burrito builder at Taco Bell.

It just seems like the vibe of this team is so tight. And Joe thinks that’s great.

Anytime players who have a selfless attitude of helping teammates who play similar positions will go a long way towards building a championship team.

For some reason, those helmets remind me of Michael Dukakis.

More and more we hear about the Bucs chemistry and teamwork. Here it is! This season already feels so differently than last season. Positively, Super Bowl here we come!

Wouldn’t blame them, but given the culture teeming at 1Buc I would say that I’d be surprised to hear of any form of selfishness with this roster. Even listening to the OLmen talk and how close they seem to have gotten over the offseason, I really do believe we have more team first than me first players in the building.

I believe most of the ” me first” players were sent packing after last season. LFG!!

TB12 not only never helped a rookie QB, he HATED them. Garoppolo was talented, good looking, and the heir apparent. That made him enemy #1. TB12 had him shipped out of town and then kept badgering him after he left. He never said two words to Trask.

    Old Adage.

    Those that can — Do.
    Those that cannot — Teach!

    Kinda scary.

Bucky looks like he’s 12 in that photo.

Tom Brady didn’t mentor anyone, and he’s the best ever.

That’s what great players do, they don’t help other people take their job, and they play with a chip on their shoulder, offended that anyone would even consider replacing them or taking away snaps.

I hate this sissy millennial mindset of being everyone’s friend. Brady, GenX, knew what you did when someone comes for your job. You bury them. That’s a winners mindset.

I actually believe Tom Brady did mentor and guide QBs as well as other players. Even Garappolo said that Brady was like a big brother to him while at the Pats. And isn’t Garappolo suspended for the first two games of this season for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances? So who knows what was going on behind the scenes. And not to forget there are coaches for the QBs too.

Brady did seem to have a connection with Wolford too. We just didn’t hear much about any of it. We hear nothing but respect from all players about him, including his backup QBs. And never forget how he tried to help AB, even having him live with them. That was made more public at the time.
