Mike Evans: Bucs Are Better Than Last Year

July 24th, 2024

No hesitation in the greatest Buccaneers receiver the world has ever known.

Mike Evans feels it. He sees it.

And this is a man who’s been around a lot of great football and plenty of miserable, pull-your-hair-out football.

Evans looked to be in superior shape at Day 1 of training camp. After the short session, he said he knew the Bucs were better than most thought last season. And he’s getting the same vibe this year, but kicked up a healthy notch

“We knew the caliber of players that we had [in 2023], and this year, we’re going to be better. I feel like, it’s already showing,” Evans said. “I know it’s just Day 1, but OTAs, it was different than they were the year before. Like we know Baker [Mayfield] is going to be the guy. Last year we didn’t know that preparing. So it’s a lot more continuity and just learning a new offense and we’ll be good.”

Fascinating to Joe how Evans talks about continuity yet there’s a brand new offensive coordinator and players acknowledge the offense is significantly different.

Joe thinks that speaks to what a great touch Liam Coen has had to date.

If the Bucs are better, and Joe believes they are, a very special season should forthcoming.

Can we get 1500 yards and 20 TDs Mike? Stop falling down and run through the catch’

If the O-Line can be 10-15 % more effective, this will be an offense approaching 30 points per game.
Then we need to see the D. That’s a very big question mark. Can they get off the field on 3rd and 4th downs at a higher % than last year? I sure hope so! Then we’ll have something to celebrate here. I’m sure.

I know it’s early to put the cart before the horse, but the cart just might have a lap on the horse.

  8. TT Bucs Says:

If the offensive line can step up and they can run the ball above average, they can be a top 10 offense and be significantly better than last year.

And for the love of god can they get the wirfs deals done !

ATLBuc that is a maddening aspect of his game. I think infameis Jameis hanging him out to dry so much has given him PTSD . Those numbers you gave would be a superb !!! on an already HOF career!

Bucs offense has no where but to go up. I am more curious to see which edge defenders emerge opposite of Diaby. Bucs need another edge defender to step it up very badly.

The Buccaneers are going to be better than last year as far as players and team..the question is? Will the defense be a lot better than last year … without haven to blitz all the time..WHAT everyone forgets. The Buccaneers has a much harder schedule than Atlanta 🏈❤️😊

We all know if Mike and Chris get off early the Bucs usually win. I hope we play a no holds bar offense this year. Not run up the gut stuff we saw last year. Yes the Bucs have a tougher schedule that the stinking Falcons that to me says we are playing to win divisions and trying to get to another Superbowl. Not playing in the basement I will take the hard schedule every year. ( Just ask the Chiefs seems like the team everyone one is looking up to). LFG-BUCS
