Graham Barton Could Take Offensive Line To Greatness

July 17th, 2024

Is Graham Barton Superman?

While Joe has major hopes that Bucs first-round pick center (?) Graham Barton turns out to be all that, Joe cannot anoint any rookie offensive lineman who has not yet blocked one person in the NFL wearing pads.

But Joe is not Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com. The insightful face of the news division of NFL.com seems confident enough to proclaim Barton will be the next stud Bucs offensive lineman.

So confident is Rosenthal of Barton’s abilities, Rosenthal believes Barton could significantly raise the entire game of the Bucs’ offensive line to heights not seen in these here parts since Ryan Jensen was able to walk free of pain.

The offensive line going from good to great is the clearest path to excellence. First-round pick Graham Barton could be an immediate difference-maker.

Joe sure hopes that is the case. But Joe is also very much in a wait-and-see mode when it comes to the Bucs’ interior line.

One thing to Joe is pretty clear, the offensive line is going to have to be close to dominant for Rachaad White to be effective on the ground because he sure cannot read blocks and he sure cannot make would-be tacklers miss.

Joe may never have seen a guy so damn good avoiding tackles in the passing game but be equally inept at avoiding tackles in the run game. Such a mystery.

    Another jab at White?

    While ignoring Hainsey?

You remind me of my Moroccan ex-wife and Moroccans in general.

They can’t admit they are wrong!

Lofty expectations for a rookie. I’ll be fine if he can call the protections and help Baker identify blitzes better, because he’s gotta start somewhere.

Don’t think this is a ‘Moroccan’ thing, there’s a lot of people posting on this here site that can’t admit when they’re wrong either.
Granted, they’re anonymous, and could all be Moroccan, but I doubt it.

I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.

NFL strength takes some time to develop, while blocking elite pass rushers, nearly every week. I have great expectations for Barton as well, but I’m tempering that with the idea of needing a year of conditioning at this level – and that rookie wall is a real thing.

He’s a rookie and will have games where he plays like one. This will be a LONG season for him, He’s never played this many games against elite talent each week, and where the tougher games will be the post-season, when his body has not been used to being in the field.

I’m looking forward to elevated play, but tempering my enthusiasm with the understanding that he’s never seen anything like what he’s about to see, for the duration he’s about to experience.

Think he will be a stud – but giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Running the ball = limited access to space especially behind our OL

Catching the ball = more room to work in

It’s really not that hard to figure that out

Even when Joe is wrong…he’s right!
    Bssaha!!!

If Barton is as good a rookie center as Tony Mayberry was then we will be in fine shape up the gut.

For chrissakes keep Logan the Oaf far away from him. And everyone else for that matter.
