Former NFL Suit Only Sees One Young Stud On Bucs’ Roster

July 9th, 2024

Recognition.

A former NFL suit seems to agree with a member of the PFF tribe when it comes to the Bucs roster.

Joe brought word yesterday of Seth Galina of the PFF tribe, who is based in the football hotbed that is Montreal. He thinks Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht’s evals of last year’s rookie class is blown way out of proportion.

Joe thought Galina was unfair if not irresponsible for dinging a Calijah Kancey for being hurt last year. When he was on the field for the last 15 games of the season, which included two playoff games, Kancey’s numbers were quite good.

Now, a former NFL shot-caller who had some success with the Vikings and Titans, Jeff Diamond, was tasked by The33rdTeam.com with naming the best 25-and-under players in the NFL.

Diamond listed just one Tampa Bay player: Tristan Wirfs.

Look, Joe thinks Galina was off the mark on Kancey. In fact, many folks give Kancey a bad rap when it comes to run defense. His numbers were impressive against the run for a rookie, which included 10 tackles for loss (in 13 regular season games).

But it wasn’t just Kancey that Galina was down on. So too was he skeptical of Trey Palmer, who caught 38 passes plus an impressive touchdown against the Eagles in the playoffs.

Could it be Galina wasn’t high on the Bucs’ rookie class because most of them did not play flashy positions? But to see Diamond only choose one Bucs player for his 25-and-under squad, maybe Galina was on to something.

Yes, all our young players are bad despite being vital to our success last season (none of them will improve as well). Dave Canales was a flawless OC we could never hope to replace, Baker is going to regress massively and so is Mike and everything bad that could happen, will happen.

Can’t stand the propaganda in the last two/three weeks and I don’t even get it. Everyone was at least good with our draft picks and off-season. Since then OTA’s and Minicamp happened and everything went very well.

But SUDDENLY we are in a worse position than in the 2023 offseason when we lost Brady and nearly all the rest of our Superbowl era players. Where we had gotten a complete
inexperienced OC (who showed it, but nono completely flawlesx. Dragged us alone.) our head coach was a few games away from being fired and everything else was chaos.

Things are looking up for the Bucs can’t have that. The one good thing that comes out of this is that its receipt season again next off-season.

Leaving Winfield off that team is an incredible oversight also. Leads me to believe Diamond might be on something.

  3. Leighroy Says:

Winfield does not qualify for this guys list bc he’ll be 26 on the 1st game of the season. That was the cutoff date he set.

    Nice catch Leighroy.

32 teams in the NFL so some don’t have any.

Anybody with eyes can see Kancey struggled against combo blocks and in instances where a OG was coming across his body from the snap, but outside of that he was fine. 13 TFLs isn’t all that speaks towards making a players run defense good, there’s no stat column for shedding blocks or out maneuvering double teams or blowing up gaps or phenomenal with leverage or the insane get off, all things Kancey does well.

    Maybe there’s a reason why he’s a FORMER suit

Opinions are like rectums, everyone has one, it’s just some are swallowed by their own. The opinions by these peeps are all over the place and most are lemmings that follow the others over the cliff. These sports show’s are as contrived as AGT and the other drival out there. Real journalism is almost a thing of the past, rivaled by the Jerry Springers of the press. I read a piece by Mike Florio { who I think for the most part is a rectal divot}, and he regaled in the fact that his piece was READ, not that it was accurate. And that’s what we have today, he with the most likes and reads wins. SMH. Can’t wait for the games to begin and see these guys come and ball out. As Joe Perry said, Let the Music do the Talkin…

    Zero respect for this club!!

Can’t even see why you threw this out there Joe; his list is a bad joke. For the most part, all he did was select high 1st Rnd picks (19 of his 25 picks). Gee, surprise, surprise.

    9 WRs – 4 QBs – 3 CBs – 3 DE – 2 OT – 1 RB – 1 TE – 1 C – 1 S

That’s 18 on offense & a whopping 7 on defense. Gets even worse if you look at the teams they came from. Lions had a total of 5; Texans had 3; Chiefs, Cowboys & Jets had 2 each; Jags, Bucs, Saints, Eagles, Broncos, Rams, Packers, Ravens, Bengals, 49ers & Vikings had 1 each. That left 16 teams with NONE on his Under-25 team.

Might’ve been a lot more meaningful if he’d chosen to build an Under-25 team.

Joe why write something like this team was slighted. Respect is earned, by consistent play. What am I missing? This team was 1 game above 500 and then won a playoff game against an opponent that was on a half season slide. They played a decent game against the Lions, but not good enough to win in the Divisional round.

I hope that Baker can take another step this year, the arrow is definitely pointing up with Baker.
This TEAM played well enough down the stretch to make the playoffs.

But this TEAM has to take the lunch pail approach, bear down and grind, and see where it takes them this year.

Again this TEAM was 1 game above 500 and made the playoffs.
They are still a long way from where they want to be.

The main thing to me, is this TEAM showed GRIT last year when they were 4-7, and then turned it around and made they playoffs and won a game.

Decent story last year, but its time to prove it again.
    GO BUCS!!!!

  12. John Cecilia Says:

Would help if these clowns actually watched the games. I’ve never seen a team hated on more than the Bucs. Media loves the Packers and Eagles abd we blew them both out

  13. David G Says:

Wirfs, Antione, YaYa, Kancey, This dude is high!

  14. Idroolpewter&red Says:

How old is Antoine Winfield Jr. ?

  15. Rod Munch Says:

Winfield Jr is 25 and is on a HOF career path – and this moron doesn’t even bring him up?

This is how you’re 1st team ALL-PRO and yet don’t even make the pro-bowl, because of low IQ idiots like this.

  16. unbelievable Says:

I mean, it’s his top 25 players total who are under 25, so doubtful many teams would have more than 1 guy listed.

With that said, not including Winfield on this list just shows how much of a joke being a sports writer is (besides the Joes of course!). You can be wrong more often than a weatherman and still have a job…

  17. Brandon Says:

And who’s Jeff Diamond and why does anybody care what he thinks?

  18. garro Says:

I was wondering what happened to that legend of a GM Mr Diamond.
And was wondering why he was fired.

    This explains it…

    Go Bucs!
