That’s the word from Matt Verderame of SI.com in his Bucs season preview. The only effort it takes is for you to place a wager on this bet.
And for Verderame, it’s nearly a lock that Mike Evans will get over 1,050 yards receiving this year.
Things you can always bet on: death, taxes and Mike Evans having more than 1,000 receiving yards. DraftKings has his total at just 1050.5. I’ll fade it. Even though Mayfield has his deal and Canales is gone, I’ll still bank on the 30-year-old Evans getting to 1,051. Evans has exceeded this prop in seven of 10 NFL seasons, and the +100 is good value.
Joe agrees with Verderame in that only a fool wagers for Evans not to reach 1,000 yards. When has Evans not had 1,000 receiving yards in a season? Never.
As a general rule of thumb, Joe doesn’t believe in betting against never.

He mostly did it with 16 game seasons too. With 17, it’s a bit more likely.

Another small farm. Even if, god forbid, Logan the Oaf accidentally steps on his calf during a cafeteria break, Mike can blow a couple 200 yard games at them especially if MacMillian comes through, Chris returns to slot domination, and Palmer gets used properly.

The Bucs have proved over the years, with different coaches, that they’re going to get him 1000 yards, injuries or not.
Seems like a safe bet since even Glennon got him to 1051 yards in 16 games.

Rice had 927 yards his rookie season. So he was only 73 yards short in his first year of having 12 straight 1000 yard seasons from the beginning of his career.
Stats for both after 10 years:
Mike Evans – 762 Receptions – 11,680 yards – 94 TDs
Jerry Rice – 820 Receptions – 13,275 yards – 131 TDs
Rice still holds the consecutive straight 1000 yard seasons record at 11 – and total for a career at 14.
Oh – and 207 total TDs (197 receiving TDs) – which are both records that will NEVER be broken.

Love me some Mike Evans – best and my favorite offensive Bucs player in the history of the franchise….
But its damn near blasphemy to try and gloat about Evans and make any kind of realistic comparison to Jerry Rice who was far and away (and always will be) the NFLs GOAT receiver.

And yes – its a good bet Evans will get 1051+ yards in this – his 11th year – unless he gets hurt and misses a few or more games of course….
Rice had 122 receptions for 1848 yards with 15 TDs in his 11th year…. (see what I mean – its just not a fair or right to compare any receiver to Jerry Rice).

In the end, I think Jerry Rice was in the NFL 20 seasons. He is definitely one of the greatest. I am hoping the next few years for Mike can be explosive. Mike has made every QB since college – JM look really good too.

There was one high throw over the middle to Evans in the first Philly game that was thrown way too high and had him coming down flat on his back. Had the Safety not allowed Mike to hitch a ride on his back and position him where he came down upright before tackling him Evans could have been lost for the season with Rib Issues. Tyrann Mathieu won’t extend that courtesy.
With the Bucs Offense having second most Turnover worth plays in 2023 Defenders are either close enough to pick it and if not they are close enough to lay the wood. If it was the JUGS Machine delivering the ball 1000 would be a lock.

Wagers that depend on a mostly healthy season for any player in a violent game like football are a fools errand, would much prefer the game after game wager , so if an injury does occur , you are not out all your loot.

That bet would be -1000. When you have to lay out 1000 to win 100.

The scale is $100, not a $1000, so +100 means you’d win $200 off a $100 bet, or 2:1 odds.

While I agree with that bet, an even more solid lock is Godwin. Draft Kings has the over/under at 850.5 yards. Personally, I think Godwin is about to explode in the Coen offense with even more yards than Evans (maybe even 1,500+) and the Bucs should figure out a way to lock him up now – BEFORE he hits free agency and the rest of the NFL sees the numbers he’s about to put up.
