“All Hands On Deck”

July 24th, 2024

New offensive coordinator Liam Coen talking to GM Jason Licht after practice today.

Joe remembers when Lovie Smith rolled out a new rallying slogan and t-shirts to his team about 10 years ago and players seemed to think he was clueless.

It was “California Dreamin’.” The idea was that the Super Bowl was to be played in California that season, so guys should be fantasizing about getting there. That was almost as bad as the Siege The Day marketing slogan that once infested the Bucs’ business office.

California Dreamin also was the title of a popular 1960s song that, Joe suspects, Lovie thought players might know.

Fast forward to the Dirk Koetter era, and the Bucs had training camp shirts that read “Discipline Driven.”

At today’s first day of training camp, Joe saw Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht wearing a new shirt that appears to carry the 2024 mantra, “All Hands On Deck.” (See photo above.)

Joe suspects the line ties to Todd Bowles stressing that he needs contributions from every player, much like he got from double-digit rookies last season.

Regardless, Joe is always intrigued by the messaging being pumped through One Buc Palace.

  3. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

I’m not big on slogans and it seems they backfire more than they work. I guess pound the rock worked but maybe it is more that the day when slogans had an effect is past.

Carlton Davis already on the NFI list in Detroit. LOL

Not suprising, turf toe is still kicking Deion Sanders’ butt and he hasn’t played a down in like 17-19 years

I told the AI to come up with some slogans — this is what it created on its own…

    1. “Unleash the Buccaneers”
    2. “Dominate the Seas”
    3. “All Hands on Deck”
    4. “Relentless Pursuit”
    5. “Conquer the Season”

The worst one was β€œNo Fly Zone” after Dominik traded for Revis to play alongside guys in the secondary we signed off the street.

Always thought a team sea shanty would be cool, like a song to sing after we beat someone something for the players and fans to sing after victories
