Deven Thompkins Heads To Court

June 22nd, 2024

So when former Bucs receiver Deven Thompkins’ messy marriage came to light on social media, Joe passed on sharing anything here because it was a bunch of ugly allegations that didn’t seem to generate a call to police.

Thompkins was cut by the Bucs on May 30, shortly after accusations against him by his wife became very public, though head coach Todd Bowles said the door is not slammed shut on a Thompkins return. For the record, he was waived with a minor injury.

Now, however, the Thompkins mess has landed in the court system.

Per the Tampa Bay Times, Thompkins filed a suit in Florida claiming his wife maliciously defamed him on TikTok with detailed allegations of physical abuses. Thompkins also says his wife is a fraud who has tried to blackmail him.

… In the complaint, Thompkins says Castilhos was the aggressor and initiated the physical altercation Feb. 14, and that the injuries to her face and arm posted on social media were “inauthentic and had been altered using photo editing software.”

Additionally, the complaint states that three days after the altercation, Thompkins’ obliged Castilhos’ request to drive her to and from an elective plastic-surgery procedure, and that the medical staff at the surgery facility noticed no injuries to Castilhos’ face or elbow. It also states that video evidence exists — taken from inside Thompkins’ car as he was driving Castilhos home from the procedure — showing no visible injuries, lacerations or bruises to her face.

Joe sure hopes Thompkins is innocent of any wrongdoing and that his family life finds a happy ending for all involved.

As for returning to the Bucs, Joe is done with Thompkins. His ceiling as a tiny, 5-foot-7 receiver is too low for Joe, and the Bucs can do better at returner.

What a mess. Hope he finds some peace if he truly is innocent.

  3. Buc4evr Says:

Well he never fumbled the ball,so he has that going for him.

  4. JimBobBuc Says:

Sean Tucker could be a great returner. Does he have experience as a kick returner?

  5. D-Rok Says:

Assuming the details of this article are true, it sounds like Thompkins has some real evidence to corroborate his defense. Wish him the best.

  6. Hodad Says:

    Canales doesn’t even want him?

  7. Dave Pear Says:

Man, when an athlete is accused, they are guilty until proven innocent. There are lots of athlete dirtbags out there, but there are also gold diggers. Hope he gets this cleared quickly. He was certainly better than Joleen Dardung on the return game. He’s better than Rakeem Jarrett. I’m fine to bring him in as one of the 90, but the WR room is now stacked.

And, for anyone mentioning Sean Tucker, please stop. If he doesn’t have a hole the size of a small planet, he’ll just fall into the line and be done. College highlights are not a reliable predictor of NFL performance, this is a known fact.

    This case is …
    Rigged!
    A witch hunt!
    An FBI orchestrated sham!
    A CIA orchestrated sham!
    A liberal media orchestrated sham!
Run by a Never-Thompkins loser judge with low ratings and a fat wife!

Oops, sorry. I might be mixing this case up with a few others.

In truth, through conditioning, our initial inclination is to believe the woman before these things ever go to court. Why?
We’ve seen some horrible videos and pics of big bad football players knocking around defenseless women. But that doesn’t make female accusers always right. There’s some crazy females out there who will go off the rails on their man if they feel slighted.
It remains to be seen whether this is the case with Thompkins. If he is found innocent, at the very least he should seek some help in picking a future mate.
In the immortal words of Jack, “Take crazy someplace else. We’re all stocked up here!”

Forget football. That’s an awful thing he is going through. I hope he gets as far away from her as possible.

At the time I said cutting him made no sense unless there was something going on we didn’t know about… well, there you go.

She might have a couple pounds on the poor guy. The little fellow should watch his back!

  17. Dave Pear Says:

Larrd – LOL! Yes, probably. The Bucs should sign him back at least until cutdowns from 90. Darcy probably through a fit at the family meeting assuming the false charges were true.

Good luck getting alimony and child support NOW.

As for “believe the woman”….Duke lacrosse players, mattress girl
