Highlights Of Bucs OTA Practice

Baker Mayfield rolls out during QB drills this morning at One Buc Palace.
The boys were back in the backyard of One Buc Palace as the heat ramped up this morning like it was July.
Below are highights of select plays from underwear football practice. Once again, underwear football is basically flag football with dudes wearing helmets. Hitting of any sort is verboten.
* Second-year receiver Rakim Jarrett pulls in a Baker Mayfield pass to the right.
* Rookie WR Jalen McMillan took a Mayfield handoff and ran right. Yes, you read that correctly.
* Chase Edmonds has a big gain to the left side on the ground.
* Second-year RB Sean Tucker takes a short pass from Kyle Trask near the left sideline.
* Tucker runs right.
* Rookie RB Bucky Irving pulls in a Trask pass on the right side.
7-on-7
* Mayfield tries for Jarrett on the right side and SirVocea Dennis nearly had a pick.
* Mayfield tries to hit Edmonds along the right seam with the ball squirting off his hands and Dennis scoops up the pass for a pick. Dennis seems to be repeating last year when he looked strong in underwear football but went into the witness protection program when the season began.
* Receivers are getting sloppy. Raleigh Webb (The Citadel) drops a pass from Trask.
* Webb bounces back to catch a Trask pass down the left seam.
* Irving hauls in a Trask pass down the right sideline.
11-on-11
* Edmonds with a nice run left.
* Chris Godwin pulls in a pass from Mayfield down the right sideline.
* Mayfield throws for Godwin over the middle as he comes in from the right side and Godwin tries a one-handed catch with his right hand but can’t quite pull it in.
* Second-year tight end Payne Durham sort of runs a down-and-slant outside from the left side and makes a fingertip catch of a Mayfield pass as he was headed to the left sideline.
* Trask throws to McMillan who gets behind coverage but the pass was a bit short. McMillan backpedals as he catches the ball along the right sideline and it appeared he was out of bounds. Still, nice concentration on an imperfect pass.
* Cade Otton grabs a Mayfield pass down the right seam.

Wasn’t Dennis injured a lot last year? Also as David’s backup, he hopefully doesn’t get much playing time. I’m not sure the Bucs want David and Dennis on the field at the same time. Anywho, I’d love to see a breakout season from him. That ILB depth chart is scary terrible behind David, and Dennis will have to show-up this year.

Joe is not going to tell everything he sees anymore because if Trask is playing better than Baker Mayfield people will ask why Baker can’t play better than a guy with no experience ? So who cares how the offense looks in training camp because it doesn’t matter how many picks Baker throws he’s the starter. I would rather hear how the defense is doing. And you know what’s funny if we would have had Matt Flin and Russell Wilson most of y’all on here would have rather Flin over Russell Wilson lol 🤣🤣. Matt Flin broke the Packers record the year before but the head coach said let best man play and that’s why the Seahawks won a Superbowl.

I don’t think Todd is a good head coach but for plenty of other reasons. His character and integrity are his best attributes.

Todd Bowles is sure not perfect but you can’t call him a bad coach unless you are blind and deaf. He was the DC when we won a Super Bowl and 3 Division titles after that (HC). I think Pear lives in darkness.

His division has sucked. Two division titles because everyone else was just as bad or worse. He managed to lose with Tom Brady. Only time ever. He won a SB as a Coordinator. He was fine in that role.
Maybe he’d be a decent HC if he would appoint a DC instead of trying to do both. Facts and reality screw things ip for the roses and sunshine crowd.

We have have a whole training camp from last year that proved Trask was better than Baker Mayfield in camp . But let’s be honest with a offense led by Baker Mayfield we ain’t winning or going to a Superbowl. The runningback the bucs drafted let me know they’re going to have Baker Mayfield throwing the ball 40 times a game which means a losing season. Dak can’t lead the cowboys to a super bowl he’s a much better quarterback than Baker Mayfield. This is the only fan base that thinks Baker is a elite quarterback and can lead a team to a Superbowl with his arm lol 🤣🤣!! But I can’t wait to hear all the excuses it’s a new offense, it’s the OC fault, it’s Bowles fault, it’s the offensive line fault and they can’t run the ball. Watch and see again you guys would have chosen Flynn over Russell Wilson lol 🤣🤣!!

Baker fan. I’m not mad about nothing I just know we ain’t going to no superbowl with Baker Mayfield leading the offense. The only way you can win with Baker Mayfield you must have a elite defense and a good running game and let Baker be a game manger. That means he throws the ball 35 times a game and maybe less . You can’t put the games in his hands because he will lose them more than he wins them.

Buccos. Baker threw a pick and lost the game against the Lions on the second play of the drive. And everyone knows the Eagles had lost 6 straight games before we played them in the first round of the playoffs. Again to win with Baker he must be a game manger his career says the same thing. And the days of having the 02 bucs defense are over because you can’t play football like that anymore. Baker has to play better this year I’m not settling for meadicorey like most of y’all do.

You guys are celebrating a 9-8 season as if we went 11-6 or 12 -5 . We had the same record as the saints and Carr is their quarterback. We didn’t not dominate the division like they were supposed to. 74 . Every quarterback that played in the playoffs on the NFC side had better quarterbacks . And don’t tell me nothing about Jalen Hurts being a bad quarterback because anyone in their right mind would rather have Hurts than Baker Mayfield. Golf is a better quarterback than Baker Mayfield. Dak is a better quarterback than Baker Mayfield and he chokes in the playoffs just like Baker does. Baker haven’t had 2 good seasons in a row yet.

Trask “proved” he was better? Osqueel how do you know this? And in a league so hyper-competitive (that means, like really a whole bunch of competitive), explain how a coach would knowingly decide to bench and restrict his best QB option? Why?

Again Baker has been a starter for 6 years and he still couldn’t out play a guy with no experience so what that tell you about Baker? But we have franchise that makes more business decision than football decisions. And that’s why right now the bucs are the most losing franchise in NFL history. You keep pretending that Trask did not outplay Mayfield when Joe – who unlike you was there – said so in TWO separate articles after training camp had ended:
August 13, 2023 – “For Trask to get the QB1 gig, Joe believes, he had to out-practice/play Mayfield by a lot. He outplayed Mayfield a little in training camp.”
August 15, 2023 – “Trask was out-practicing Mayfield. Not by a lot, but a little. Not enough to be knighted the Bucs starter if the two were competing based solely on their play.”
These two articles are in JBF’s archives for all to see and read. I know you’re an FSU boi, but surely you can read, right?

Baker will stay the starter and he was close last year to going all the way. It was 7 points between the last 2 games. Baker can get the Bucs all the way. What it is. Baker threw a pick on the last drive to lose the game against the Lions. I get your a Baker fan and fans like you will never blame Baker Mayfield for nothing I get it. But almost don’t count . What about the last 2 games of the season he sucked against the saints and the Panthers. I see you one of those guys that say Baker had a good game when he played bad for 3 quarters and 12 minutes of the game. Some of y’all go way to far about Baker Mayfield and his play on the field. Against the 49ers he should have had 5 picks and I’m talking about passes hitting defenders in the hands where they didn’t have to even try and make a play . I will always be a bucs fan but never a blind one like some of y’all are. This is not a superbowl team again if they make it to the NFC championship game that’s a good season for this team. But the only way to do that is you can’t put the game in Baker Mayfield hands because he can’t carry a offense at all and that’s a proven fact.
