Praise For Team Glazer Setting A Health-First Tone
March 20th, 2024Apparently, some NFL teams don’t prioritize player health.
That was the message from Bucs No. 2 (for now) running back Chase Edmonds, who was re-signed in free agency this month.
Edmonds talked about his Week 2 knee injury against the Bears last season, one that set him back but showed him the Tampa Bay strength and conditioning staff cares about its players, so he explained during a comprehensive conversation with Go Long founder Tyler Dunne.
Edmonds credited Team Glazer, the Bucs’ ownership group, for demanding that kind of culture.
… … … I ripped off an 18-yard run the drive before. So I was like, “Yeah, we about to get to cooking again.” And on punt return, of course, trying to block someone, my man goes left, I’m ready to go left and I bumped knees with somebody. It tweaks my MCL so weird. It put me in a spot like, “Damn, here we go again.” But I wasn’t going to go back down that rabbit hole again. I told myself that I was not going to do that. Obviously the first week you have moments where you’re really pissed and you’re trying to get right. But man, Tampa’s full of just great people. The rehab team we had at Tampa, shout out to Bobby (Slater). Bobby’s the head trainer there. He has built such a great staff and it’s full of great people that actually care about you as the person. Because there’s some NFL teams that it’s not like that at all. It’s just a dog, dog business and they won’t care about you. They’ll try to rush you back on the field and just all sorts of stuff like that. But Tampa Bay is full of great people and it starts all the way at the top. Very fortunate to end up here.
Have you heard horror stories down those lines?
Edmonds: Oh, you hear horror stories all over the teams. And it’s a shame. But that’s just the way it is. It’ll never fully be out of the NFL because it starts from the top. So, I believe that the owners set expectations to the GM. The GM sets… it goes all the way down from that way. Until you have better owners for all 32 teams, it will always be like that in all spots.
Interesting stuff from Edmonds, who played for the Cardinals, Broncos and Dolphins before landing in Tampa last year.
Edmonds emphasized later in the interview that players still play through injuries in Tampa, and he pointed to Baker Mayfield playing through multiple issues last season that earned him a lot of respect in the locker room.

Cool article, great to hear

REALLY think we needed to use him more!

“Baker Mayfield playing through multiple issues last season that earned him a lot of respect in the locker room”
Baker did that only because he damn well knew Trask beat him out in training camp and if Trask went in he would never come out.

We are extremely lucky to have such great ownership.
They go class all the way, and are truly dedicated to Tampa winning Super Bowls.
Team Glazer is well on their way to hoisting a third Lombardi trophy.
We have the key pieces.

Best way to stay healthy is to jettison injured players……Shaq, Gage, Jensen (retired) come to miind…..and then there is projected injuries from Davis, White, Feiller

I guess they skimp on the facilities but pay more for quality people???
March 20th, 2024 at 3:49 pm
It’s nice to actually hear something good about the owners and the staff that isn’t some generic statement. Good stuff.
March 20th, 2024 at 4:09 pm
Cool. Now, get the mold and stench out of the locker rooms.
March 20th, 2024 at 4:17 pm
If you’ve got something crappy to say about the Bucs – remember you could always be stuck talking about the Cardinals.

That “Go Long” interview with Chase was awesome, but they also had one with Rachaad White that blew my mind. I doubt I will ever say anything bad about him ever again after what he has gone through.

“Baker did that only because he damn well knew Trask beat him out in training camp and if Trask went in he would never come out.”
What do you base that comment on? Honestly and respectfully giving you a shot at explanation.
Do you have any QUOTES from players or coaches that indicate even a HINT of that happening? WHAT makes YOU suspect it? I’m honestly curious. You can be a HUGE fan of Trask and HATE Baker and I get that but what makes you feel the need to post hyperbolic BS?

Football is dangerous. Will br too dangerous to play soon. Ya heard it here first.

Good to hear something positive about the Glazers from a player. I’m not sure the majority of the players share the same high opinion of the Glazers – based on my reading of the NFLPA survey.
March 20th, 2024 at 9:58 pm
I remember between 2003-2010 the Glazers were branded cheap skates 🤣🤣
March 20th, 2024 at 10:09 pm
The glazers are woke. Not many teams have male cheerleaders. Fortunately

I realize he’s not a workhorse back but he provided a nice change of pace as a running back. Not big, but he hits the hole hard and provided a spark.

Dear JimBobBuc,
That NFLPA survey seems suspect after the history in the Licht years of retaining key free agents. Now these comments. Really looks like some players really taking a piss on the whole survey. That or a select few players that have been disgruntled give such a low rating it drags down the whole lot.
Like, let’s guess what Devin White responded.

BakerBucs calls someone a moron and then posts a message a Nobel Prize winner can’t read. Embarrassing.
It’s noon and you sound drunk?
Is there a point in there somewhere?
