Chase Young Signs With… The Slimy Saints

March 19th, 2024

New Orleans’ problem.

Joe isn’t broken up by this at all. In fact, as much as Joe is on his knees begging Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager to sign or trade for a legitimate edge rusher, the transaction Joe didn’t want won’t happen.

Edge rusher Chase Young, who is all name and no results, signed with the slimy Saints yesterday, per Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report.

In fact, Joe is toasting this move in his last remaining hours in Sin City. Young, once a budding star edge rusher, honestly hasn’t been the same since he shot his mouth off about burying Tom Brady just before the WTF played the Bucs in the 2020 playoffs.

Bucs left tackle Donovan Smith owned Young’s ass that night. Young didn’t do jack against the Bucs and hasn’t done much since.

Yes, Young blew out a knee in 2021. That’s why he was shipped to the 49ers for peanuts at the 2023 trade deadline and since has been panhandling for work.

Yes, Joe wants an edge rusher badly, a proven edge rusher, not a rehab project like Young who still seems shook that Smith manhandled him in the playoffs.

    BOOOOOOOOOOO!

  2. Obvious Says:

Jason, where’s the Beef my man?

  3. Obvious Says:

Look, Chase’s problem is he’s trying Way to hard to be pretty. He looks like he’s jealous of Rapunzel!!!

He loses that girly hair weave and MAYBE he can play like a man. Kinda the opposite effect that Sampson had with his hair..

But don’t tell him the secret until he’s fired from the Saints

  4. Simeon4HOF Says:

Am glad NO overspent for him, thought it was funny. Saints suck

  5. I remember 21 Says:

I’m sure glad we didn’t spend that kind of money on him. And while I’d perfer him to be outside of our division, I’ll take him over Burns any day of the week.

  6. RagingBrisket Says:

Oh cool, now NO has two overrated loudmouth lousy pass rushers.

  7. Steven007 Says:

Nice article Joe. Chase Young seems to have a lot of Devin White in him. Decent rookie year. Invisible since then. Way overhyped. Perfect destination for him.

  8. Simeon4HOF Says:

Bucs could trade for Reddick any moment now

  9. kgh4life Says:

If Chase Young lasted this long, it means most teams didn’t want to pay a high price for his services.

  10. yucboy Says:

We dont want Ohio State players on the Bucs, Thanks!!

  11. sweti_yeti Says:

I’ll put my faith in Jason Licht rather than crapping my pants for every pass rusher available. If our front office isn’t worried yet, neither am I.

  12. Joe Says:

    Invisible since then. Way overhyped.

Dude blew out a knee. Has never recovered.

  13. Faatfivefreddy Says:

Another late night cry baby post about a pass rusher again geez do you not trust licht

  14. Joe in Michigan Says:

I watched a video on Chase Young, the guy that made the video questioned if Young plays hard…Several instances of him taking plays off IN THE SUPER BOWL.

  15. No Mercy Says:

Booo this man!!! Hope Wirfs shuts him down all season

  16. SB Says:

YIKES! Now Young, Cousins “you like that?!” And Bijon twice a year?

  17. Brian in St Pete Says:

This was a bad FA edge class. The only thing worse than not getting a player at a position you need is overpaying for a player at that position. That will put your team in a bad position much faster. Trust the process. Our final 53 isn’t even close to assembled yet. Don’t worry about not signing some of these never have beens and never will bes.

  18. Buc4evr Says:

Good to have back ups in the rotation, but paying him $13M is over the top. Jason must have passed on this guy long ago., as he doesn’t need two JTS type players on the team.

  19. Ke Says:

Now let New Orleans draft a OT. Latu can just slide us. Please!!!

  20. Saskbucs Says:

Good for us. Unless some kinda switch flips for him he isn’t doing much out there. I saw those loaf plays in the playoffs. Yikes! Do not want that effort anywhere near the Bucs. Let hungry guys like Markees Watts get out there and attack full speed between the whistles.

  21. Capt.Tim Says:

    The Perfect place for him.
The land of huge talk, small production..

    And cowardly acts.

While our ball-less offense line did nothing, hopefully SOMEONE on this team
Remembers Tyrann Mathieus dirty cheap shot on Our QB.

And points out to him that cowardly behavior against the Bucs is not acceptable.

Never as ashamed of this team, as I was on that play. Not in 50 years of watching them.

  22. A Bucs Fan Says:

Mediocre player with limited drive that free lances. He and Cam might earn 8 sacks combined this year. Not worth 13 million.

  23. BPBucsfan Says:

The Eagles moved Riddick’s roster bonus back to 4/1 giving more time to work out a trade. We have zero pass rush right now.

  24. Jason Says:

I dot remember Young being the terror that he is made out to be. I Believe we handled him pretty well in our playoff game up in DC. 13 Million is crazy seeing as they were over the cap by what 86 Million is what was reported? Its the NFL’s funny money

  25. Zoocomics Says:

It’s funny how everyone laughs at this post, like the Saints are a joke. Are we kidding ourselves? Everyone think we turned a corner against the Saints? This Saints team tied us at 9-8 last season with heat ton of momentum to close the season.

Saints are f*cking problem for us everyone. More than just being a division rival, they are a problem. That second to last game of the season still stings for me. Losing 9-0 to the Saints against a backup QB in our ONLY home loss of the 2021 season still stings for me.

2023, we were playing at home to lock up the South and we got our head kicked in by the f*cking Saints. On top of that to start this season off, we’re down an actual starting edge rusher with a question mark on whether Diaby is the future for our starting DE. And we’re laughing at this article relating to the Saints signing Chase? Real funny. He might have been too rich for us, but we need “potential” talent like Chase to bookend Diaby, and it looks like we’re banking on that at pick 26? Not feeling this at all. Nothing funny about it.

  26. Jerseybuc Says:

He’s like D white. Thinks he’s better than he is lazy takes plays off. Eagles just pushed reddick million dollar signing bonuse till April 1st. Could be a trade in the works? Jason go get him

  27. Easy The Great Says:

Tristan and Luke are loving this!

  28. BA’s Red Pen Says:

    F the Saints.

  29. Pickgrin Says:

I’m also glad that the Bucs didn’t sign Young.

Potential locker room problem, gets hurt too often – and he just hasn’t been all that effective since he got all the over the top accolades for getting 7 1/2 sacks his rookie year….

I know of a pretty good looking 3rd round Edge rookie that got 7 1/2 sacks last year and didn’t get all that fanfare……

Saints are paying Young $13M fully guaranteed for 1 year. The contract only counts $3.75M against the cap in 2024 because it includes 4 dummy years totaling $9.5M which will be their dead cap hit next year unless they figure out how to sign him again and push it out further.

  30. BuxfaninTX Says:

The same Chase Young that Joe Bucsfan was begging Jason Licht to draft?

    Interesting….

  31. Allen Lofton Says:

The Saints deserve him – JoeBucs description of the Saints is appropriate, and he fits right in with the Saints.

  32. BillyBucco Says:

Im not worried we didn’t sign Young or that NO got him, but this is starting to feel like Bowels first year when we all pounded the table with O Line upgrades for Brady and they literally did NOTHING. Then Brady had zero time to throw the ball all year long. I try my hardest to trust the process, but the ONLY thing out of management’s mouth about the D Line is Bowels admission that the 4 man rush was BAD. Im still a believer that the reason Bowels had such Trouble cutting OLBs last year is because they all looked mediocre. I mean if they were serious, we would have at least taken a low budget “flyer” by now. Someone who they graded higher than he has played through 4 or 5 years. The lack of attention to the 3rd most important position on a football team is criminal.

  33. It's Corn Says:

He was such a rising star his first year. Oh well.

  34. Cobraboy Says:

A noble candidate for the All Mouth HoF, along with the Black Knight in the Monty Python skit…

  35. Conner50 Says:

Tristan Wirfs will not allow Young to touch Baker and that’s money dude

  36. Larrd Says:

Young and talented. You’ve got to keep collecting young and talented pass rushers until you get results. That said, they paid more than I expected and we’ve still got that guy Watts.

  37. panhandle buc Says:

This signing is VERY Saints-like. Waaay overpaid with money they don’t have! LOL

  38. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Obvious

    LOL!

I don’t get it either man -what’s up with these dudes getting hair weaves?

I guess they don’t understand how utterly ridiculous they look.

Imagine the stank on those things… Gross.

Like Schultz’s caption ‘A big time talent finds a new home’ is subjective so was the Refs call on the ‘cheap shot’.

Mayfield had left the pocket and was advancing as to run it in. Matthew had already went for the hit when Mayfield pulled back and threw the ball. Bang Bang Play.

No fine levied to Matthew and no Angry Run Scepter for Mayfield. Gain Some Weight.

  40. WeMakeCustomTeez Says:

I’m with Joe on this one… the team has great chemistry and locker room culture… my perception of Young right now is he would be another Chris ‘Swaggy’ Baker… all talk, no results, and a bad influence.

  41. GhostofBrady Says:

$13M guaranteed for a guy that averages 2.5 – 7.5 sacks a year? Uhm. No thanks. Don’t pay a player based on their draft position unless they’ve actually showed at least a couple of seasons they provide value close to that draft pick. I only see reference to his draft position, his combine numbers and not much on him thriving in specific defensive schemes.

  42. Mort Says:

13 million guaranteed. Yeah best of luck with that, nawlins.

  43. Saskbucs Says:

@zoocomics we are laughing cause Young doesn’t do much and he wasn’t gonna help the Bucs, especially at that price.

Yeah the Saints seem to get us now and then but they are still in cap hell with one of the oldest rosters in the league. We won the SB and then 3 straight division titles! If we can’t laugh and make fun of our rivals now…. when the hell can we!? Screw the Saints.

  44. Ha-Ha-Ha Says:

Takes plays off or is out of shape and looks like he takes plays off?

  45. Ha-Ha-Ha Says:

Or is lost on the field and looks like he is dogging it?

  46. Gipper Says:

Laiatu Latu from UCLA is Bucs 1st pick. Best pure EDGE in draft. Sort of like TJ Watt. Just figure out a way to draft him.

  47. adam from ny Says:

    he’s just a younger version of clowney…

he just looked shiny because we are so needy for edge help

  48. Paratrooper Buc Says:

    Joe,

You should add the reports of him getting neck surgery and the saints knew it was happening but gave him an overpriced contract anyway.

  49. itzok Says:

just another sub par pass rusher, he will fit right in with the aints

  50. BuxfaninTX Says:

Idk why NO would trade marcus Davenport, mthen sign this guy 🤦
