Teammates Notice Chris Godwin’s Enthusiasm For Making The Lesser Plays

Gets pumped doing dirty work.
Joe has heard former NFL players say leadership isn’t necessarily someone hollering and screaming. This came to mind for Joe on one particular play from Monday night.
Running back Rachaad White had a nice run for over 10 yards, and in the corner of the screen you could see Bucs receiver Chris Godwin taking out Bradley Roby with a strong block.
Afterwarfds, Godwin celebrated like he scored. This is a veteran receiver, a damn good receiver, who also has a Super Bowl ring, and he gets jacked by a solid block.
In Joe’s eyes, that’s leadership.
So last week Joe asked Deven Thompkins what that meant when the team sees a star like Godwin taking out a cornerback and celebrating like he did.
“Definitely [rubs off],” Thompkins said. “When you take pride in doing something that most don’t want to do and block somebody, [the team picks up on that].
“Just the fact that Chris is hyped just on making that block tells everybody about his character and how he feels about his teammates.”
Did Thompkins and others get pumped seeing Godwin do dirty work? He certainly admitted, yes, that did get his teammates as stoked as watching White run for a first down.

Chris Godwin is invaluable to the Bucs, both him and ME13 should stay here there entire careers.

Chris Godwin is the most underrated player in the NFL and has been for years. There is nothing the man cannot do and do it very well. Ridiculously smart, quick, strong and the best pair of hands on the field on any given Sunday. Go Bucs!

Not a fan after the way he and his wife acted this year. The week Evans cemented the hall of fame they could not just let him have his moment. The jealousy got to them had to make it about them. He can’t open anymore so he has to block and do the little things but I lost a lot of respect for him. Godwin out produced Evans for two years in a row Evans never complained once he is a thousand times better teammate and receiver.

BS, Dan the Bucs Fan. ME13 and Godzilla14 have been friends OFF the field for several years. That includes their families. You don’t think players’ wives don’t become friends? Wrong. Ms. Godwin was standing by her man. Just like Ms. ME13 would. Everyone knows (at least here in Buc World) ME13 is headed for Canton. Godzilla14? Warrior with the IQ of a rocket scientist. Sure glad he wasn’t noticed in the early hours of the draft, and Licht grabbed him. Go Bucs!!

Godwin. Evans. David. Wirfs. Mayfield. Winfield. These are leaders.
Mauch, get in the weight room. You and Wirfs are going to need to help the new C and new G acclimate.
This train is still rolling. But over the next few years, this core is going to bring more boat trophy tossing moments.

Not sure about “leadership” on that there Joe (unless you know of something not being mentioned of which is very possible), However if I were to tag him in a word on the subject it would for me be Top “Gamesmanship”
Now, without more deep info, THAT would be the word I’d us to describe the man and the “moment”.
Dan, I get where you’re coming from and why you may feel like you do but…. what is Misses Godwin supposed to do? Did she lie? Maybe, may I not. Wouldn’t you fight hard for your wife? I think so. ALL of the sacrifices and hard work you KNOW she is and HAS given to get where heis now.
And just going to waist on top of it all like he’s some rook that’s not being paid 20 million a year because he’s average and not worth even throwing his way. IT SEEMS the team has had Far More success WITH Chris put back in the mix and put ACK I to the position on the field where he belongs.
IT WAS CERTAINLY “ENOUGH” with the failed science experiment that Canales was FAILING AT while Gomer Bowles (covering and BLATANTLY lying) concerning the situation) IT WAS ABOUT TIME TO GET BACK TO BUCCANEER FOOTBALL BECAUSE ALL SEASON “WAS LOST UP TO THAT MOMENT”! Seems Misses Godwin played a HUGE ROLE in turning our “Now Winning” season around…… I’m just saying it’s something to think about…

Canales way wasn’t working continually trying to force run plays that we WERE NOT CAPABLE OF without our GREATEST STRENGTH! He game after game ignored the truth.
He NEEDED A SLAP IN THE FACE TO WAKE UP!
Ever since (unless Canales went back to WRONG PEG and got embarrassed a few more times), ever since he actually tried out our strength, WE HAVE BEEN WINNING!
The pass opens up the run for the Buccaneers. It IS the “Truth of our Truth”

I love CG14 AND ME13. Two of the best receivers who only trail any other WR’s in size of ego!!! Or at least in size of ARROGANT ego.
Pro Football was designed for entertainment. There’s not really same rivalries as FSU/Florida or OSU/Michigan etc. College fans are stuck with their teams. Pro fans are a little more demanding.
I am NOT entertained by the AB’s and OBJ’s of the league. I’m old school. My parents taught me a simple thing…IF YOU have to toot your own horn the sounds that come out are meaningless. IF somebody else is singing your praises that actually means something.
Again the last duo this talented and this “modest” were John Stallworth and Lynn Swann from the old Steeler teams.

Lost in last week was the fact that Thompkins played a great game. Battled for yardage, couple solid returns, couple 1st downs. Eagles were washed but still a strong effort from Deven.

Obvious, I personally think that with him being a rookie OC, Bowles kept a tight leash on him.
