Team Glazer Chose Public Uncertainty For Todd Bowles

January 14th, 2024

Joe can’t speak to the inner thoughts and considerations of Team Glazer. Heck, Joe cannot imagine six siblings agreeing on much, but Team Glazer presents an admirably unified front.

The Bucs ownership group apparently made a decision recently; media will not be advised now that head coach Todd Bowles is returning for the 2024 season.

Don’t tell Joe, “Team Glazer doesn’t do that.”

Back in January of 2010, Team Glazer dropped a super short statement that Raheem Morris would return for the 2010 season. In late December 2018, word leaked to media (unattributed to Team Glazer) prior to the season finale that then-head coach Dirk Koetter would return for his third season as head coach.

At the time, Koetter had said reports of his uncertain future were a “distraction” to the club.

Enter Bowles.

Jay Glazer was on FOX TV last week placing Bowles’ job security in the uncertain category. Ira Kaufman and Joe have talked publicly about Bowles’ not getting a public nod for the 2024 season and the unrest that creates for coaches and their families. Mike Florio has gone there, too, in his work for NBC Sports. Today, the Tampa Bay Times questioned Bowles’ security and put forth names of potential replacements for Bowles if he were to lose Monday against the Eagles.

The candidate who may make the most sense for the Bucs is Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken, who already has interviewed for the Panthers job. Monken did a great job for the Bucs for three seasons on Dirk Koetter’s staff as the receivers coach and offensive coordinator in 2019.

What’s even more intriguing is he coached Baker Mayfield for one season in Cleveland and tried to get him to sign with the Ravens as a backup to Lamar Jackson before the Bucs gave him a chance to compete to be the starter.

Joe doesn’t think Bowles is in serious trouble and is in desperate need of a win on Monday night. He has succeded this season. However, Team Glazer is all about “arrow pointing up,” per previous public stances.

Is Bowles’ arrow really pointing up if the team comes out Monday and doesn’t look like a playoff-caliber team for the third consecutive game?

If the Bucs get pounded by a reeling Eagles club in Tampa, then Joe would have to say the “arrow” would be pointing sideways at best.

And sideways never won a Super Bowl.

  2. Dreday Says:

I mean it makes sense. Bring in Don (Wink) Martindale and we might have something.

  3. Rusty Shackleford Says:

Bring in Wink Martingdale and the Bucs will be a Quinn Martin production that gets cancelled after one season of low ratings.

  4. Alanbucsfan Says:

What makes the most sense is to draft a WR that can catch, a Center that can push the pile and a pass rusher that gets 10+ sacks

  5. Fish Says:

We went 9-8 in the worst division in football with a soft schedule. Our defense is going backwards with a defensive coach. He has already proven with the jets this is who he is. Why should he stay.

Sideways is what Pete Carol & Tomlin have been poi ting for years. Winning records but very few rings.

  10. Marine Buc Says:

The Glazers won’t fire Todd Bowles unless they want to be sued for “racial discrimination”…

Bowles just won the NFC South with a pretty lackluster roster – 13 rookies, only $148M spent and Baker Mayfield at QB.

  11. NYbucsfan Says:

I think it’s safe to say that 75% of the fan base is not crazy about Todd. That’s bad for business they’re just looking for a reason to can him.

They are the most insecure billionaires since Howard Hughes.

Ain’t no sideways pointing arrow. Following a loss tomorrow it is clearly pointing down.

  15. Luis Says:

The fact that race comes into this conversation is ridiculous

Coach has done a good job this year with all the challenges with cap etc

  16. JD Still Says:

LOL! As usual , it looks like Team Mediocre completely missed the point, again! Todd Monken coached Mayfield at Cleveland, which many Mayfield sycophants continually bring up , the place where Mayfield played his best ball, going to the playoffs , the place where Todd Monken coached him everyday for a year, and only, perhaps out of some sense of misplaced loyalty, offered to sign him as a backup! Not a great sign of confidence from the guy who coached him for a full year in the place he supposedly played his best!

  17. MadMax Says:

Go after Pete Carroll…he still wants to coach and has that drive until he’s dead!!!!

  18. Boss Says:

Marine speaks the truth……….although I think wanting him fired is simply a matter of observing this team limps through gimme games and get lit up with a decent team or home game or prime time. They best of a bad lot in the nfc south, a cake schedule and boring team that depends on the defense to win. I see no reason not to expect better…..better plays, better prepared, better in game clock management, more emotion and least but most important a coach that holds himself accountable and doesn’t throw people under the bus at every turn

  19. Rusty Shackleford Says:

The fans that post here are 95 percent idiotic.

  20. Popcorn Mike Says:

I looked up some info about Bowles contact and it’s 5 years so I am thinking that Bowles will be back at least one more year. All in all the offense did start to improve the last half of the season. The young players on defense started to show promise My belief is the Glazers will give Bowles next year, with the transition of his new offense and OC having a full season under their belts to see if he need to be replaced. I looked at the Bucs opponents next year and it ain’t gonna be as easy as this year was.

  21. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Tony

Sorry little guy – it’s the world we live in.

Do you realize there is currently a lawsuit ongoing for the same exact thing?

“NFL coach Brian Flores can press discrimination claims against the league and three teams after a federal judge on Wednesday rejected the option of arbitration, presumably before Commissioner Roger Goodell, and offered some stinging observations about the status of racial bias in the sport.

The written decision by Judge Valerie Caproni in Manhattan clearing the way for Flores to bring his claims to trial also required two other coaches who joined the lawsuit to submit to arbitration. The league had tried to move the Flores claims to arbitration, citing contracts that coaches had signed.

Flores sued the league and three teams a year ago, saying the league was “rife with racism,” particularly in its hiring and promotion of Black coaches.”

Get with the times Captain Kirk…lol

  22. Rickym Says:

I think Bowles is coaching for his job Monday night. A loss will bring a call for change. Monken is a great choice especially if the Bucs franchise tag Mayfield. Many other quality candidates out there. Monday will decide Bowles future.

  23. Cobraboy Says:

Ly a rotten egg Monday night, and Bowles may be gone.

  24. Cobraboy Says:

I honestly think it has less to do with TB deserving another year. I don’t think anyone whose end results net exceeded deserves to be fired.

I just think the quality of candidates out there with lack of quality openings will make them want to take a shot if we don’t win Monday.
There’s too good a chance of getting a good one.

But let’s be real, no way talks haven’t happened in the background and decisions made already. We lose Monday, whatever happens will be quick and done. TB won’t be fired because we need to “move on” and then run through a bunch of interviews. Because we are a playoff team it will be “we like Todd, but we had a chance to get this guy”.

  38. JD Still Says:

Tony : ignorance is simply a lack of knowledge concerning the facts regarding a subject, stupidity on the other hand is having facts presented to you and still refusing to abandon your fantasies in lieu of reality.

Wouldnt it be nice to see Pete hooked back up with Canales…..just like i was saying back in the day, it would be nice to have Arians…anyone remember me calling that? lol Its in the archives…

Glazers, Mr Licht, GO GET PETE!!!!

  40. Rick Brooks Says:

No one is mentioning Mike Vrabel, should TB be relieved of his duties. The New England connection with Jason Licht could make for an interesting hire. One must wonder if there’s behind closed door discussion of hiring him, should a change be made. Would make a lot more sense than a 72 year old coach who would want total control of the team

  41. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Rusty Shackleford Says
“The Glazer sons are some weird freaking dudes.”

But they bring us the rings. At least one. Their father gets credit for the first one.

  42. MadMax Says:

I have nothing against hiring Vrabel…they messed up firing him. He will def land somewhere nice. But Pete has that dog, even at 72, i dont care about the age.

  43. HC Grover Says:

Look at the Texans new coach and top draft pick.

  44. Beeej Says:

Absent someone like Tomlin, Harbaugh or Monken coming in, I don’t see the point of firing the coach

  45. BAKERSBucs says Says:

r really smartazz know it all no sense to even play the game no sense in why even play at all this season we shud have just forfitted the season cause 2024 is gona be the best season we ever had what a bunch of knuckleheads

  46. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Allbuccedup Says
    “Two words Bill Belichick!”

That would bring us a ton of prime time games. I could get behind it.

Not to Todd Monken as HC. That would be a meh hire.

Glazers like to make a splash, and I don’t believe they want another decade of losing. So if we get blown out Monday…I do not expect them to keep Bowles.

The challenge is replacing him at DC. We’ll need someone who can pick up where he left off and improve things.

    Who I really want? Harbaugh.

But…Big Bill would come with Daniels…

As far as the look of hiring Bill after Brady? Who cares? Fans all over the NFL hated Brady, and he got us a ring. If they hate Bill, it’s because he does his job.

Patriots are in poor shape. Part of that is his fault. But a fresh start to close out his coaching career might be just the thing.

At least he’s a proven winner.

  47. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

BAKERSBucs, please speak clearly. I did not follow that at all, lol.

  49. Defense Rules Says:

Unless the Bucs literally lay down on the field & quit Monday night, Bowles will be our HC for 2024. Glazers have experienced the turmoil of the coaching carousel more than once, and it ain’t been pretty. This coaching staff has done a commendable job developing our young players, and that needle is pointing up.

70 mil short on payroll this year.

    Lost 3rd wide receiver.
13 players left the team (wish Edwards stayed).
10 new free agents signed, only a few have any impact. You know who they
    are.
    10 Rookies starting.
NO ONE thought this team would win 9 games AND win division, no matter
    how it happened.
Bucs now get to the playoffs.
I am going to ride the Rogue Wave of Happiness until it crashes. Just like 31 other teams will do. Its January 14th and we are still playing.

I think Baker deserves another year, but only if. Canales can stay.
I like the idea of stability and we would enjoy a second year I think with Canales.
Carroll also knows what he is doing defensively.
I do not like the idea of Bill with McDaniels.
Bill and keep Canales, I’m ok with.

  62. Jack Clark Says:

All Bowles needs is a competent offensive coordinator that doesn’t waste our first and second downs running between the tackles!

  63. Craig Says:

If the team looks as uncoached and unready as the last time they played the Eagles, he might not be back.

  64. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Jack

I agree but unfortunately that is a directive from the head coach.

Todd Bowles has already stated several times that he doesn’t care about yards gained as much as he cares about controlling the clock…

    Pretty lame.

  65. BucsFan81 Says:

They probably will keep Bowles. Tomlin would be a huge upgrade over Bowles. The Steelers roster isn’t as good as ours and that division is a lot tougher than our division.

  66. Duane in Sanford Says:

The reason I know this is manufactured drama is because I could care less one way or the other about Todd Bowles. He is smug lying jackass, but his team is in the playoffs. None of the talking heads are singing praises about Todd Bowles. Bowles wasnt even an interesting talking point for hot seats when the team was slumping. When I am done with my rant, im not even sure 3 other people will even care about the fate of this guy.

  67. BakerFan Says:

1976 until now the Bucs have won 2 Super Bowls, listening to guys on here they think they should win every year. I do know you can’t win it, if you don’t get into the tournament. Bucs are there now and to listen to a lot of you guys, you are disappointed that they are. It’s the owners…. it’s the HC….. it’s the QB….

You guys act like you operate in a vacuum and are entitled to win Super Bowles. Believe me, Bucs winning Super Bowls are an outlier, meaning it just does not happen that often. There is not a coach available that will bring Tampa a Super Bowl in the next year.

This management knows that they mortgage a few seasons for the Brady Super Bowl win. Realistically I think Bucs should of won 2 more games that they just did not close out. Management team is probably thinking that we way overachieved so will stand pat on GM, HC, OC coaches.

  68. Rod Munch Says:

This is a business, you keep your options open in case something better comes along, and the NFC South isn’t always going to be the weakest division in sports.

But I think Bowles is safe, short of the Glazers being able to nab a superstar name. Monken, meanwhile, I think is a great OC, but as a HC, I think he’s going to suffer from the same fate as Dirk. When you take someone that is good at one thing, but tell them to do something else, they generally fail. It’s like with Bowles, he’s a top flight DC, but a mediocre (at best) HC — however Bowles has a chance to change that perception tomorrow night.

  69. NE Fan Says:

Bakerfan@ EVERY team says they could have won a few more games!!! Guess what, they DIDN’T? Many say Buffalo game, go back and watch that, the Bill’s manhandled the Bucs all game.

  70. NE Fan Says:

Run first coaches on the unemployment line: Belichick, Vrabel, Carrol, Arthur Smith, Blows should be next.

  71. 1#bucsfan Says:

If I’m team glazer I waiting to see how the Bucs come out and how much play in this playoff game. Last years playoff game against the cowboys we came out flat and looked unprepared. That’s on coaches. If it happens again under Bowles for the 2nd year in a row then give him the ax. The positives is he did win a division title in the worst division in the league and not much money to spend to bring in players and some players had to walk. If Bucs lose against the eagles Monday but it’s a good game and they are just the better team then honestly let bowels stay one more year. Song baker to another 1 year contract and see if year 2 in canales system he can be more consistent. Baker was to inconsistent this year. He also didn’t have help from a running game and a rookie OC. Maybe year 2 they all would do better.

  72. infomeplease Says:

Just like the Bucs’ team, TB controls his own destiny! A solid win against Philly will bring him back as well as most free agents. Another disturbing loss, like Dallas last year, will send TB packing as well as many of the free agents. IMHO.

  73. Ed Says:

Perception is reality to the fans and also probably to ownership. The Bucs despite so

me holes have some very good players and if the team played consistantly good to average throughout the season Bowles would be on safe ground.

You can’t overlook the lack of hustle from starters. Bowles refusal to adapt to in game situations. The worst running stats in the NFL. Low scoring offense in pressure games vs better than mediocre teams. There is a lot of bad looks to the Bucs this season with 4 good wins @Minn, @NO, @GB and home vs Jacksonville.

Ownership has certainly picked up on the opinions of the Bucs faithful and the majority of the fans would like to see a more wide open offensive team rather than a slowed down ball control offense that has been good once every 3 or 4 games.

I believe if the Bucs light it up vs the Eagles the needle will move that his approach worked and the team lived for another game. Anything less will more than likely bode poorly for Bowles’ chance to come back, especially if a better candidate to run the team comes forward.

Pete Carroll was let go after a 9-8 season, should he sue for age discrimination (he’s 71)? Some of this stuff can be over the top

  76. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I like this being a moot point as the Bucs beat the Eagles.

I’m not a Bowles fan but think he will be retained, unfortunately.

Think we need to select some draft picks for our Offense…..but Bowles stands in the way of that.

    Will probably select a MLB & S in rounds 1 & 2.

  77. orlbucfan Says:

Tbbf, no, Bowles won’t stand in the way draft wise. Can we get back to the game tomorrow night? We have one, y’know.

  78. PbnJ Says:

I think (a dangerous event) if the Glazers were unhappy with Bowels, he would’ve been fired at 4-7. If they were eager to make a change, they missed their moat reasonable opportunity. I think (more danger) that Tod Bowles (he has to earn that 2nd d) gets 2024 because the Glazers like Canales. They’re giving a 2nd season, with a full off season, for Canales to gain Coordinator experience. Bowles can hold the job with a good 2024 but let 4-7 or similar stretch happen again & Canales will be named interim head coach & audition for the full gig. Just what I think.

  79. Bobby M. Says:

The fact the game isn’t even sold out tells you where the fans believe this team is headed. You can believe the Glaziers notice, especially after the yrs of Brady filling the stadium, boatloads of cash made on food/beverage….Bowles doesn’t excite the fan base. His style of football is boring and inconsistent, he’s not charismatic, he doesn’t do anything great…particularly winning. If you’re going to sign Mayfield, you’re going to want continuity on offense and that comes from an offensive HC…like Harbaugh, Monken, or Johnson. Tomlin and Vrabel might be the only exceptions.

  80. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Bobby

Who wants to watch two midget QBs run around and throw 3 yard passes?

    ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ… (this is me sleeping).

  81. mg Says:

    Take Mayo, please.

  82. Ted Says:

Smart Football fans understand that Bowles is a below average coach that the game has passed by. The fact that the Bucs are in the playoffs is a direct result of the poorest division at any level of football and not Bowles’ coaching acumen. I have been a die hard Bucs fan since 76 but I understand football pretty well and regardless of what happens tomorrow night, the Bucs are not a good team. This is not a result of player effort or ability, but the antiquated process with which Bowles coaches these talented gentlemen. Just watch the other playoff games and you will see dynamic offenses who are mixing a creative passing attack with an adequate running game that complement and play off of each other. I did not mention the defense because it is of no importance in 2024, the NFL has changed the rules to enhance scoring and showcase offensive talent. A defense just has to make a few stops and turn the offense over periodically, there are no more dominating defenses anymore and the league has made sure of that. Bowles, however, doesn’t understand modern football and continues to coach like Buddy Ryan, Tony Dungy and Brian Billick. Until Bowles is gone and replaced with a coach who embraces the changes in NFL rules and understands that offense wins Championships in 2024, the Bucs will be at the mercy of the weaknesses of the NFC South and never really matter in NFL.

  83. Ron Potter Says:

I think if Bowles loses tomorrow, he’s gone. If he wins tomorrow, I think there will be no public security statement in favor of Bowles. I think Bowles needs to win more than one playoff game to get some kind of public security statement from the owners. In fact, Bowles might have to make it to the NFC Championship game, maybe even the SB, to get a public security statement from Bowles. The Head Coaching candidates out there are just better at being a HC than Bowles and names like Monken have more potential to be a better HC. Bowles is too slow to hold players accountable, too conservative to be a HC, too hands off from the offense to even be considered a valid HC and so much more. He’s just not a good HC. Period.

  84. Irishmist Says:

Rusty- When you’re a billionaire you can’t be weird. Only eccentric.

  85. Badbucs Says:

He’s back unless a star falls into our lap or there’s some perceived genius they’ve been watch willing to eat a still bad salary cap year. Glazers will live with the mediocrity until next year getting clear of Brady cap hangover. Who knows, maybe Bowles shocks us next year with an infusion of new talent. This year’s cap deprived talent level would have hampered any coach.
As boring and maddening as the run into the middle of the line approach is, it may have been the only way for this year’s team to survive…. nah.
    1 more year then out.

  86. BucsBeast Says:

    This is simple.
Even though I want a new HC.
As long as Bowles doesn’t get embarrassed tomorrow, he’ll be back next year.

  88. Since76 Says:

I think Biwles did a decent job defensively. But he really missed on offense. The offense will cost this team a win in the playoffs too. Too bad. I believe this team has all the talent it needs to get to the big dance. Talent everywhere but one position.

  89. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Jack Clark Says:
“All Bowles needs is a competent offensive coordinator that doesn’t waste our first and second downs running between the tackles!”

Yeah…I don’t think so. His current OC is a yes-man, doing exactly what Bowles wants him to do. Canales needs experience, but we go to see what he can do with a passing game when unleashed.

  90. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Buc1987 Says
“I think if Bowles loses tomorrow he’s gone.”

I hope you are right…but I suspect it will depend on how he loses. If it is a high scoring close game with our QB injured? I can see him getting another year even if he loses.

Of course, the Glazers might see opportunity to land a big name coach. There are some really impressive names out there, and I doubt we’ll see this many choices anytime soon.

  91. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

The way this Cowboys game is going, anybody think another high profile job is going to open up this week?

    Mike McCarthy anyone?? LOL

  92. orlbucfan Says:

Couple more reasons why the game isn’t sold out.

    1–Tickets, etc. are expensive.
2–Weather is iffy, and it’s an outdoor stadium.

  93. BigMacAttack Says:

Jerry Jones is about to fire everybody lol. I feel that Todd Bowles probably has a few fans left in Tampa, his family members. He needs to go even if we win. He makes too many boneheaded plays. He cost us us the NFC championship against the Rams. I hope the Glazers are smart enough to send him packing

  94. Oneilbuc Says:

This is why I want a quarterback in the first round I’m tired of all these mediocre quarterbacks !! It’s the young quarterbacks that’s having a impact on their teams. Not these Joe Flaco and Baker Mayfield type of quarterbacks who you know ain’t going to help us win a superbowl. The future starts in April when we draft a quarterback in the first round to begin our dynasty!! Go Bucs…

  95. gotbbucs Says:

This is an unattractive job right now. Way too many other open jobs this year to get into the coaching carousel in my opinion. I’m not a huge Bowles fan, but I think they give him another year.

  96. WyomingJoe Says:

Dear Baker Haters: Better not hope that Monken isn’t the new HC if Bowles gets axed because Monken didn’t just like Baker, HE LOVED HIM! Can’t wait for your heads to explode if that happens, lol. I honestly think that Monken would keep Canales, too. However, I doubt that Bowles is going anywhere.

  97. BigMacAttack Says:

I believe that part of the Bowles/ Glazer problem is that he was back door shoved down their throats by BA. I could see them throwing a big offer at Belichick if they haven’t already. They like big names and like to make a splash. Bill fits the billet 😂.

  98. Rod Munch Says:

I think money is part of it, also considering how the team ended the season, with an incredibly bad and embarrassing lose to the Saints at home, then barely edging out the worst team in football – I don’t think a lot of people have a ton of faith that the Bucs will win this, at least not enough to drop a mortgage payment on taking the family to a playoff game, that they know will be filled with tons of unwashed Philly trash that stink of 3-day old cheesesteaks.

  99. NE Fan Says:

Couple of things, Belichick is going to go to Dallas. 2nd, the league is made up of 75% minority players and minority HC have been HC’s since the 70’s not to mention assistant coaches. Is the only solution to some a complete minority NFL? Why are people today so myopic?

  100. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

@gotbucs I disagree that this isn’t an attractive job. Not saying it’s the best one out there, but it kind of depends on what you’re looking for as a coach.

Not in cap hell, good mix of youth and vets, good GM.

What we don’t know is what a head coach as an individual prefers. Bright lights of media or laid back Fl; full control or GM; how important is no income tax; easily winnable division or only wants to go against the best. All kinds of different things.

I do agree not being set 100% at qb nor having a high enough pick to get an upper tier guy knocks the job down a peg or two compared to some other openings

  101. Heath Hunt Says:

You know every single minority HC hire made NE Fan so mad too

  102. BigMacAttack Says:

Thx bro, I can never eat a cheesesteak again

  103. Oneilbuc Says:

Wyoming. And the stadium will remain empty if they bring Baker and Todd Bowles back. I can garuteen that because it will be a losing season!!

  104. BigMacAttack Says:

Saying the hoodie will go to the Cowboys is very presumptuous. I only mentioned here because the Glazers like big names with winning histories. If The Glazers want a coach or player they will pay the bounty, if they are in consideration. History has proven this. I don’t personally want or care for BB.

  105. NE Fan Says:

Heath, not sure how you got that out of my post, big fan of Shell, Singletary, Dungy (Indy), Flores, Green, but others like Edward’s, Bowles, Tomlin not so much. Same way I feel about Carrol, Belichick now, Staley and others that can’t compete with the Shanahan’s and Reids of the world. I love Detriots vibe and Campbell and has.nothing to do with his race.

  106. Jugheadfla Says:

Did I miss something? Did they come out and specifically say Bowels will for sure be back next year? Makes my stomach churn.

How could any of you with a straight face say that anyone in this division couldn’t win 8 or 9 games? This division sucks and if we had a competent,non-flaccid, coach we could dominate the division and lock it up with 2 or 3 games to go but instead just like last year we have barely back into the playoffs looking terrible.

  107. stpetebucfan Says:

A serious question for everyone here!

Why does Belichik get considered as such a great coach when his record with two different franchises in the decade without Brady, Belichik had the SAME FREAKING WIN % AS BOWLES CAREER .420%

Brady obvioiusly proved he did not need Belichik winning the SB with the Bucs.

Just as obviously BB has failed miserably as an HC without Brady!

Let me see guys want him for his scintillating wit and great personality. Or perhaps they want a fat slob in a hoody on the sidelines.

BTW I credit BB with being one of the best DC’s in history but even there Belichik has Lawrence Taylor!

Someone make a case for me that BB has been spit WITHOUT BRADY!!!

Unless some miracle worker here can take ten years off Brady’s age and convince his to once again play for BB what does that fat ole jerk have to offer?
    Some FACTS please.

  108. Stanglassman Says:

Fish. The Bucs played a 1st place schedule. Ranked 23rd hardest before the season and ranked 21st after the season. So not easy.

  109. Stanglassman Says:

I think it’s simple. If the Bucs lose bad Bowles and Canales are gone. If they win or lose a close game (looking alright) they’ll be retained. I mentioned Canales because lots of Bucs fans want Bowles gone but don’t take into consideration that it means losing Canales too. Unless you hire him as head coach and I don’t think that’s gonna happen. Everyone also thinks the grass is always greener and any person they want to coach here automatically will take the job. Neither is true.

  110. BigMacAttack Says:

I’d like to see Canales stay because I can’t help but feel that Bowles held him back. Leftwich also did well with BA but horrible with Bowles. Is Bowles the problem with our offense? It’s a fair question. I like Todd Bowles but not as a coach because he has no fire in his belly. He’s too laid back and nonchalant. He needs to move on.

  111. flogrown Says:

The Glazers are waiting to see what happens today and who is available after today.

  112. flogrown Says:

BigMacAttack Says: “I’d like to see Canales stay because I can’t help but feel that Bowles held him back. Leftwich also did well with BA but horrible with Bowles. Is Bowles the problem with our offense?”

I’ve been saying that all along. It’s more Bowles than Leftwich or Canales.

  113. Ted Says:

I just read where RGIII went on ESPN and said that Jerry Jones should fire McCarthy for his cumulative playoff loses and hire Deion Sanders because he is a cultural icon and do well with the players. So you get fired for going 12-5 three straight years but losing early in the playoffs but you get hired for going 5-7 at Colorado and missing a bowl game. It would be spectacular if JJ did this LMFAO. Go get Bryan Flores, dude can coach and tell the NFL to suck it. But since I am not a Dallas fan, IDGAF

  114. flogrown Says:

    @Ted

It’s all about advancing the woke DEI agenda.

  115. RustyRhinos Says:

I do wonder if Momma Glazer ever told her boys to not keep their hands in their pants pockets. But just maybe Daddy Glazer told them to always keep their sacks close at hand?
Strange to always see them in photos playing pocket pool.

Back to Back to Back NFC SOUTH DIVISION CHAMPIONS!!!
No way you cut the HC/DC who helped to make that happen. Voices of the pants pocket lint cleaners will not want to upset that cash cow…

  116. Tye Says:

If Todd Monken had the Bucs as exciting as he had the Georgia Bulldogs and the Ravens, tickets would be flying out the booth at high prices tonight…..

  117. Matt Says:

Bowles was a DEI hire. Everyone knows it. Glazers are also big on DEI. If Bowles were white there is 0% chance he’d have gotten a second shot at HC. Everyone knows he’s mediocre at best and can’t take you to the promised land.

So now the Glazers are in a pickle. You can’t really fire a DEI hire after 2 division titles.

I expect Bowles to be retained and ultimately stink…then be fired.
