Saints’ Evil Empire May Add Jon Gruden Full-Time

January 9th, 2024

“Hey Glazer, you gonna hide when you hear the cheers for me in The Licht House next year? I hope you choke on that organic rabbit food you eat.”

One of the best quotes of this season came when Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht said of the slimy Saints, “I hate them.”

Well said.

There’s nothing to like about the Saints, and now it appears they’re about to add another Bucs castoff, perhaps just to toy with the emotions of Tampa Bay fans.

That castoff is Jon Gruden, aka Chucky, the Super Bowl head coach banished from the Buccaneers Ring of Honor by Team Glazer, a group that often has espoused forgiveness and second chances.

When last heard from in the football realm, Chucky was consulting with the Saints before this season and explaining to Jameis Winston that he’s a “bobblehead quarterback.”

Now, per a report from Nola.com, the Saints are considering making Chucky a full-time member of their offensive staff, perhaps a senior consultant. Might he call plays? The reports states Chucky dined and collaborated with the Saints prior to their Week 17 game against the Bucs in Tampa.

Back in February, Joe wrote about the excommunicated Bucs Super Bowl-winning head coach’s connection to quarterback Derek Carr and Tampa Bay general manager Jason Licht.

It became obvious to Joe (through various channels) that Chucky wanted his great friend Carr to be the next Bucs quarterback so the duo could at least reunite off the field and break down film in Chucky’s famous Tampa lair. Instead, Carr signed with the Saints for $40 million per season.

Carr talked about his closeness to Chucky on multiple occasions even after the NFL kicked him out of the league for hateful old emails he sent while working for ESPN.

One irony for Joe in all this is that Baker Mayfield is a better quarterback than Carr for a lot less money.

Scoreboard for the Bucs.

Chucky to th Saints and belicheck to atlanta……..we definitely going to the division basement.

  2. TheBucsAnthem Says:

I hope Chucky becomes an NFL HC again…..because the Raiders and the NFL did that man dirty!!!!!!!

  3. Lt. Dan Says:

    Meh…

  4. johnnymoon Says:

Not scared of Gruden as he was a Failure with the Raiders this last time around .I loved him here and hated when he was fired but I think the game may of past him by as the Raiders were Bad .

  5. BA’s Red Pen Says:

I hope they do hire Gruden, his offense was figured out and outdated in 2009. The Gruden nostalgia from his here website is hilarious.

  6. RamblingRhino Says:

If he does I hope he hears nothing but boos, F him he is a Saint, same way they should have when he was The 100 million dollars Raiders coach in Vegas. Thanks for the Super Bowl Jon, But you never could repeate that success. Would you want to play in a divisi9n of no body HC, or would you rather play in a division full of former great coaches?

  7. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I wish him everything he deserves.

  8. Fred Says:

We need Gruden here!!!! Sign him!!!!!

  9. Buc4evr Says:

I don’t have any hate for Chucky. He got us a SB. He got shafted by Kiffin and the Glazers dumped him. Wish the Glazers would hire him back as the OC. All my displeasure is directed towards Monte, not Gruden.

At any rate the NFL is going to get killed in court and Chucky will end up even richer.

  10. Angry Since Kickoff Says:

Thanks for the memories Chucky, and the email scandal was a joke, but he’s no smarter than the average NFL head coach. Plenty of the Chucky years were mediocre at best, even with half the starters on defense going to the Hall of Fame.

  11. Fred Says:

    Is Bowles still here?

  12. UKBuccaneer Says:

Gru is a career .500 coach who can’t build a team, can’t coach a young QB. Not sure what he brings to the table.

  13. UGotRobbed Says:

Question; What team was the better team the last two games if the year? Bucs or Saints? And which of those two teams looked more ready for a playoff game? The answer should be obvious to anyone who was paying attention!
Gruden will make the Saints even better.
Come on Glasers, make some bold moves!

  14. Boss Says:

gruden is a closer…this team needs a closer.

    coffee is for closers!

  15. ModHairKen Says:

After the sordid, ridiculous jackass move by Jameis, they should fire Dennis Allen. Then they should cut Jameis then they should hire Gruden.

  16. Jerseybuc Says:

Hajajaj. Not worried one bit about gruden. He’s proved year after year he can’t draft or develop a QB. Saints can have em.

  17. realistic-optimistic Says:

The Saints sure love ex-Bucs. Jameis, JPP, Gruden, Kwon, Justin Evans.

The only ex-Saint I remember signing with Tamba was Carl Nicks. That didn’t work out too well.

  18. Zoocomics Says:

Are we really worried about re-treads in our division?

  19. realistic-optimistic Says:

Was that post flagged because of the name “Carl Nicks”?

  20. StickinUp4Centers Says:

“Chucky to th Saints and belicheck to atlanta……..we definitely going to the division basement.”

Maybe if it was 2004 and not 2024

  21. Sauron's eye Says:

The Saints are a trash outfit. Jameis is an idiot and looks like he is trying to become a practice squad QB. Jordan has nothing left but talk. I feel sorry for Dennis Allen.

  22. Glass Half Full Guy Says:

I wonder what the odds are of acquiring Ron Rivera as DC. If we end up keeping Bowles (and all signs are that we will) maybe Todd would do better as HC if he didn’t have to wear too many hats?

He’s a solid defensive coach who was trapped in a lousy organization in Washington. I know there’s a whole “youth movement” in the NFL regarding coaches but there’s something to be said about experience and character as well.

I know Bowles and Rivera know each other but not sure what their relationship is like and whether it would blend well. Both are nice guys that their players love. Or would Todd constantly be looking over his shoulder or feel pressure that he may have hired his own replacement?

You can never have too much good coaching and many former HCs return to coordinator positions and succeed. It’s nice to keep those NFL paychecks coming in.

  23. Glass Half Full Guy Says:

As for all of the Belichick “can’t win without Brady” thought bandwagon, his problem has been his GM failures.

Yeah, he hasn’t won many games since Brady left but how would Andy Reid do if he lost Mahomes and year one without him he had a washed up Cam Newton (who seemingly forgot how to throw a football) then a rookie Mac Jones (went to the playoffs but they had Josh McDaniels as OC..McDaniels = great OC, bad HC #canales.ain’t.ready). Then he has to deal with a Jones or Zappe (twin nothings at QB).

Him being GM makes these issues his own undoing BUT he always has his team ready to play and his defenses have been solid and kept them in virtually every game that could have been winnable if they had at least a journeyman QB.

Belichick isn’t done by a long shot but why would a 71 y.o. man want to stand in the freezing cold and lousy weather in NE for another minute? Man that looked miserable this past Sunday. To quote Zeke Elliott when he said he always dreamed of playing in the snow, when asked how it felt he said “It sucked”. Lol

  24. Marine Buc Says:

    Jon Gruden – 15 years as head coach – 229 games – 117 wins/112 losses – 51%.

The most mediocre coach in NFL history.

His best seasons were over 20 years ago…
    – 2000 he was 12-4.
    – 2002 he was 12-4
    – 2005 he was 11-5.
    – 8 seasons of with 8 wins or less.

Give me a break folks. Who cares about Gruden.

  25. Todd Rolls Says:

I’m happy for gruden as a matter of fact if the saints hire him I’m an instant saints fan, the buccaneers belittled the man when our liberal owners took him out of the ring of honor for writing naughty words in private emails I hope gruden wins that huge lawsuit too.

  26. #99 the big fella Says:

Todd Rolls, Dont let the door hit you on the ass on the way out!

  27. StormyInFl Says:

All of you – I guarantee if he hadn’t specifically addressed the Glazers in his ‘naughty emails’, he’d still be up there.

Why should the Glazers show any respect someone who obviously has zero respect for them? Someone who acted out like a childish tool?

The Glazers have done more for this franchise than Chucky ever did. I don’t get the hate. They kept the team in Tampa (remember Peter Angelos, anyone), they’ve invested money to win. They obviously want a solid product on the field.

Bad owners are guys like former WFT owner Dan Snyder and David Tepper in Carolina.

Anyone thinking the Glazers are horrible couldn’t possibly have experienced the truly cheap Culverhouse era.

  28. orlbucfan Says:

Geez, keep idiotic egomaniac Chucky out of here! Getting caught with those emails shows how stupid he is. Hey Chucky, there is a key called ‘delete,’ you dumbbell! His brother Jay is a classier dude. And don’t bring Belicheat here either, Glazers! Bucs have been cursed enough.

  29. Hodad Says:

Baker better than Carr? Both QBs led their teams in their first year to 9-8 seasons. Last head, to head battle Carr was clearly the better QB. Last week Carr threw for 4 TDs against the Falcons while Baker led his team to three F.Gs.. Joe, you need some chapstick?

  30. TexasBuc 1776 Says:

Chucky is an average coach, poor at drafting but I loved the guy. The NFL did him dirty and the politically correct Galzers were cowards to remove him from the Ring. Yeah, he said some disrespectful things in private emails but he who is without sin cast the first stone. I hope he wins billions against the NFL. That said, I hate the Aints.

    ——————-

    Bye bye now.

  32. Buc1987 Says:

    Hilarious Hodad.

  33. heyjude Says:

Let Gruden go to the dirty Saints. Perfect scenario for him. He really isn’t that good and let’s see how the lawsuit goes. Too much baggage.

  34. unbelievable Says:

I have zero hate for Chucky, but his west coast offense isn’t innovative at all these days.

  35. Dirk Disco Says:

Gruden is an ok coach as long as he is not buying the groceries. Belichick is only a good head coach when he has the GOAT throwing the ball for him.

  36. Boltsfan17 Says:

Glazers are coward scum bags for taking Gruden out of the ROH.
