Should The Cowboys And Eagles Be Worried?

December 18th, 2023

Dangerous enough?

Now Joe isn’t ready to go crazy like this guy Joe trusts who isn’t thinking the Bucs will be a patsy one-and-done playoff team.

Joe thinks it’s fair to say most Bucs fans believe if the team gets to the playoffs, it would be a massive uphill climb to tangle with the Cowboys as the wild card seed coming to Tampa.

Well, right now, the Eagles don’t look like a done deal to win the NFC East like they did a couple of weeks ago.

SI.com NFL insider Albert Breer noted there are all kinds of teams playing better ball now than anyone believed, such as Houston and Buffalo. So Breer basically asks, why not the Bucs?

Well, the last we’ve seen of the Eagles and Cowboys hasn’t been great. And there’s a certain team in the NFC South that now looks, to borrow its quarterback’s favorite word, dangerous.

The Buccaneers went into Lambeau on Sunday to play a Packers team on the fringe of the playoff picture, that really needed this one, and beat them by two touchdowns, 34–20. But more than just that, Tampa beat Green Bay when it mattered most—with a long touchdown (52 yards from Baker Mayfield to David Moore) to push the lead to 14, a sack on fourth down to end the Packers’ final possession and six Rachaad White runs that churned out two first downs and put the Bucs in victory formation.

Joe has to see more before believing the Bucs can hang with Dallas or Philadelphia, but yesterday was promising. Joe absolutely loved how the Bucs aired it out without getting away from their precious run game.

The Bucs don’t have the horses to win playoff games by pounding Rachaad White into the middle of the line time and again. The Bucs, however, do have passing weapons that can take over a contest like they did yesterday.

Joe needs to see a repeat of yesterday before jumping on a Bucs Super Bowl bandwagon. Go demonstrate yesterday was no fluke, huh?

Moving Godwin out of slot was dumb, unbelievable how much better they are with him back in there. Feiler going to the bench ought have happened sooner, same with JTS. Amazing how little things can make such a difference

  2. Jeagan1999 Says:

    Hell yeah!

  3. Jeff Says:

Old Clueless shocked me yesterday. Strong defensive game plan and Dave the Dangerous called a great game. Lots of play action and a commitment to the forward pass. Baker showed a lot of moxie out there.

  4. lunchmeat Says:

I’m not going crazy. This team is two years away from true Super Bowl contention. That said, it is a helluva lot of fun to watch.

  5. Pryda…sec147 Says:

Let’s smack around the jags and we’ll be ready

  6. tbc 1 Says:

Cowboys-we need to punish them and keep there fans OUT OF THE STADIUM!

  7. Bucnjim Says:

Yes a lot of fun to watch for sure. Falcons lost to the Panthers? They don’t deserve to win the division. Saints play the Rams who have looked very good. Don’t believe in losing for draft picks so enjoying what’s happening right now.

  8. ElioT Says:

Finally one great game and everyone is losing their minds.

    Everyone needs to calm down.

  9. Nicholas Carlson Says:

9000-to-1 odds for Bucs to go all the way!

  10. zzbucs Says:

    @ElioT

    Couldn´t agree more my friend……

Bi polar fan base and Journalists….

·3 games left, plenty of football to play.

We weren´t the worst we are not the best…….

Don´t have dinner before breakfast Joe….

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Dallas, Philadelphia?????? Are we getting just a bit ahead of ourselves…..how about let’s take care of Jacksonville first……

  12. Mike C Says:

Could have been 3 TDs easy

  13. Fred Says:

    Let’s not get too excited.

  14. Mike C Says:

Did you ask if the Cowboys should be scared of taking a L in the playoffs??? Uhhhh yes Joe, the past 30 years says yes.

  15. AMI_Chris Says:

No, they should not. Bucs looked great against a 6-7 Packers team. Cowboys and Eagles are much better. That said, I feel way better today than I did two weeks ago about the Bucs being competitive in a potential playoff game against anyone.

  16. Buckeyebuckchuck Says:

3 game win streak. They can play the Iggles a lot closer now than they did earlier. Would rather catch them than the chaotic Cowboys

  17. Salary Cap Hell Says:

Rachaad White needs space to run good to see him used as a reciever ! , ko kieft should be more involved on the pounding run game somehow someway

  18. D-Rok Says:

Looking ahead just a moment, to the premise of this article:

Philly will laugh with glee if they get to see us in the playoffs. And that’s just the edge we will need, because they are better than the Bucs.

Them Cowgirls will not fear us but they might be a tad complacent, too.

The performance of this Packers win gives the most optimism I’ve had all year, and if we catch a playoff team looking at us like an easy W, we’ve got a chance.

  19. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Better do something to fix the DL!!!!!!

  20. BillyBucco Says:

Almost every team n the NFC is beatable.
SF will not lose again IMO.
I think they win it all!!!!!
I would love to see us play the Cowboys again at Home.
Not that they should need any extra motivation for a playoff game, but certainly they will have a better plan for Parsons this year.
Gotta get past the Saints first, AND come away relatively healthy which is always a concern playing them.
The SB team turned the corner at almost the exact same time of year.
Anything is possible and they looked great against GB.
Score could have easily been 41-13.

  21. Sir Fresh Says:

Any team can be beat,it just who shows up who wants it most. But keep white getting the pass out of the back field and keeping the defense well rested. Bucs keep doing what you’re doing.

  22. NJbucs23 Says:

The sky is falling up here in Eagles land…..they replaces their D coordinator with Matt Patricia. You should hear the sports talk radio up here

    Go Bucs !

  23. THETRUTH Says:

Our CB can cover anyone those teams will lift up the defense. 15 yard cushion will be destroyed. The only hope is offense keeps up the scoring

  24. H-Town Darryl Says:

    No

  25. Lord Cornelius Says:

Yeah the NFL has been super inconsistent this year so IMO why not. What a great game it was to watch and I’m hoping they finish the year this way as Bowles continues to win us over.

Need to stop the big coverage issues though . Seems like 100+ yards a week of passing we give up are on busted coverages

  26. Conner50 Says:

Need to focus on the jags first of all, they are on a 3 game losing streak in desperate need of a win to get their playoff hopes alive. Not gonna be a walk in the park whatsoever. Good game but the team and specifically the offense but let’s not get caught up in the moment

  27. Lakeland Steve Says:

I’m with you Joe, if the Bucs hang more than 30 on the Jags and beat them into oblivion I might be in the crowd of we could win a playoff game against the Eagles or Cowboys because if we win the division that’s probably who we would play. If everyone remembers the Eagles beat us like we stole something this year. Not saying that would happen Again but are offensive and defensive lines were pushed around in that game. There’s an old adage which says, you are never as good as you look or as bad as you look. We will see next Sunday which Bucs team shows up to play.

  28. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I’m not super excited yet…but yesterday was big for me. It’s too late to lose for a draft pick anyway…but this game sold me.

All season long, I had so many doubts. I came super close to not even watching (only time I did not watch was during my son’s baby shower, and I had an earbud in my ear).

  29. orlbucfan Says:

Hate the Cowpukes, I always have and always will. I would love to see the Bucs smear them. 49ers, er, no. Bucs are not at Stupid Bowl level yet even if they finish 10-7. Division champs works just fine for me. My NC fan BFF nearly stroked out yesterday cos Panthers won.

  30. PewterStiffArm Says:

Absolutely Joe, great article. The Jaguars aren’t playing to their potential either. If we are thinking deep playoff run, take care of business this weekend as a Christmas present for the Bay area. Secondly, New Orleans doesn’t scare me and by the time we play the Stinking Panthers the team will be focusing on the first draft pick. Who knows we might be resting some players, hopefully not. Winning four straight after a dismal mid-season could bring out conversations about a Bayshore parade. Well not quite, slow down.

  31. matthew a veal Says:

Ok, things are good but the packers were banged up, so lets not assume we are even in the playoffs…atlanta is fading but the carolina is better now and the saints are a pretty even match

  32. Bucsfanman Says:

I’ve never understood this “fear” of being a one and done PLAYOFF team. If memory serves, there was a certain 10-6 football team that won a Super Bowl going in as a wildcard team.

  33. JBBUCS_06 Says:

Like I said weeks ago, Baker had some “must win” games down the stretch and a couple I thought would be losses and some maybes. Beat the Falcons and Panthers. Lost to the Colts and it wasn’t great Shake N Bake. Perhaps made up for it w/ the Packers on the road. BUT…..

We still need to win against the Saints at home and the Panters on the road. I chalked the Jags up as a loss. IF, and I mean IF we beat them (with or w/o Trev); it’s a plus ONLY if we beat the Saints too.

Beat Jags, lose to Aints with bad QB play and Cowboys or Eagles will be yawning while super excited to face the Bucs at Raymond James.

Plus, Bucs will have decisions….do you keep Zion playing as he’s been good to great and bench either Dean or Davis? Do you keep Britt in and bench Devin considering Zion and Britt’s playoff experience is lacking. Would love for Bowles to have to make those decisions.

  34. Pewter power Says:

I almost choked when I saw this headline! Afraid of the 49’s yes but afraid of the Bucs because we beat the panthers, falcons and packers uh no

  35. garro Says:

Dallas is worried that we won’t be their victim again this year.

Great win and thrilled that the offense looked like they belonged for once, but lets not get carried away.

    Go Bucs!

  36. OlBoy Says:

No more than for any other team they play the upcoming week.
