“Really Violent Hands And Arms And Feet”

December 14th, 2023

Attention film junkies.

This link is for you if you are really into NFL trench warfare as dissected by a former defensive tackle.

In this case, it’s Beau Allen with the professor’s pointe. A former Buccaneeer (2018-2019), Allen is among the ranks of ex-players breaking down Xs and Os on YouTube. His recent subject was Bucs rookie Calijah Kancey, the highly impactful first-round pick.

Allen is a Bucs fan and a huge Kancey fan.

If you watch the analysis, Kancey really dives deep into film examples of how savvy Kancey is in the run game and how he shows fantastic effort and explosivenness.

Allen loves Kancey’s instinctiveness to switch to a second move when his first one doesn’t work, and Allen says Kancey shows excellent technique with “really violent hands and arms and feet.” He praised Bucs defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers for being an ideal coach for a young player an a master technician.

Very uplifting stuff when it comes to the future of the Bucs’ defensive line.

Would be great if they could pair him with Chop Robinson or another stud at DE. Would be awesome to see opposing QB’s dealing with pressure every dropback

Really? That’s what you have to add? I have nothing but respect for both Joe’s. Having worked to only produce two five minute sportscasts a day, I can only imagine how much more these guys have to do to produce all of this great content.

BTW…general tip for everybody on internet manners. It’s widely accepted that critiquing somebody’s spelling/grammar mistakes is considered really lamearse! I frequently make the same mistake Joe made in this post…OBVIOUSLY he meant Allen not Kancey did the evalutation and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure it out.

I’m not sure I’m crediting coach Rodger’s, violent hands is a trademark of Aaron Donald as well who I believe has the same college coach. No one is claiming any of our other d linemen have violent hands. I like this kid. Seems like he is the opposite of JT Soft, doesn’t have the ideal size or really look the part but makes up for it with technique and desire.

    Thank you stpetebucfan.

  6. PSL Bob Says:

That breakdown was great. Little nuances that are invisible to most fans, but critical to D-line play. Thanks Joe!

  7. Let em bake Says:

As young as the defense is, and with the lb core showing promise, this side of the ball could be quite scary for the future. It’s early, but McCollum looks like he’s improving at a fast rate.

  8. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Why can’t Rogers teach Logan Hall to have violent hands? Perhaps Hall has physical limitations.

Seems like Licht looked at his past drafts and noted that DL need to have more qualities than just speed. Speed without power just doesn’t cut it in the NFL.

Watching that film breakdown has me so hyped about Kancey. This guy’s gonna be a monster. So heady and technical already.

The Y in Your should be capitalized, and Lazy should not be. Do better should also be it’s own sentence with the D capitalized.

    Do better.

It’s rather amazing how many errors you could have in one small, snarky comment.

The Joes pound us with multiple articles of interest hour after hour, day after day……I believe it is unfair to criticize “editing” and the occasional typo especially with the volume of text.
Their opinions are fair game and I’m sure they would agree with that.

Imagine reading all of that post and walking away focused on grammar. Stpetebucfan and Z-31 nailed it.

I have a couple of degrees in English literary/linguistical analyses. Plus, I was a professional proofreader for 5 years. I see plenty of mistakes on here. Doesn’t bother me cos I mentally copy edit and move on. I’m not looking for English lessons; I look for the real fans who get into the Xs and Os of the game.

  18. TimR Says:

    Keep rockn it Joe!

  19. Wild Bill Says:

Shoot, the grammer on here is often equivalent to the Bucs level of play. Consistency matters!

  20. orlbucfan Says:

The grammar and sentence structure on here is laughable at times. I just copy edit in my head. I look for fans who can explain Xs and Os, not English professors.

    I believe it’s “cuz”, orlbucfan

    Go Bucs!!

  22. Rod Munch Says:

You should never ever ever expect much of rookie DT, you just want to see flashes, and Kancey has shown a lot more than just flashes. Everything you see about him to this point shows that he is going to be a future star. So far it looks like a home run of a pick.

  23. Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

Awesome video analysis. Well said Rod

  24. #99 the big fella Says:

Z-31 lol your response is awesome. He did have so many mistakes in a very short sentence

  25. garro Says:

That is a crazy picture of Kancey! Amateur photographer here and that is a fantastic capture of the atleticism of Kancey. Add to the pic what our man Beau Allen is saying about Kancey’s abilities and it fits perfectly.

BTW good stuf from Beau. I watched his earlier clip on Kancey before.

Good job Joes! And kudos to the photographer.

    Go Bucs!
