Have Faith, Bucs Fans

December 3rd, 2023

Still reason to smile.

Yes, Joe knows most of Bucs fandom is depressed these days because the Bucs are 4-7. Joe gets it.

The reality is the Bucs are just one game out of first place. They very easily could look at the standings tonight and see themselves in a tie for first place. No, really.

Kalyn Kahler of The Athletic not only says she can see the Bucs winning the division, she’s putting her name on it. The Bucs will win the division.

I’ll make the case for Tampa Bay because it still has four division games left. Mayfield was playing well to start the season, and he’s been pissed off lately as they’ve dropped six of their last seven games. Good things have happened when Baker is angry, and I think he’s capable of leading a late-season push, even though they have just a nine percent chance to make win the division, per The New York Times’ playoff simulator. They have yet to play the Panthers, so that should be two wins. But they’ll also need to beat the Saints again and the Falcons, who they lost to the first time around by just a field goal. If they can dominate their lowly division, they’ll have a 66 percent chance to make the postseason.

Well, the first thing the Bucs have to do is use their best players correctly. The Bucs are not a running team no matter how hard they try.

If Bucs coach Todd Bowles and offensive coordinator Dave Canales would just embrace reality and not fight it each week that they are a passing team with elite weapons (Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Rachaad White), the Bucs can do damage and they won’t have to burn in the fires of hell in the afterlife as penance.

If the Bucs can just do something as simple as that, and figure out a way to improve the secondary, the Bucs could easily turn things around.

The reasonable question is, do the Bucs coaches want to?

KALYN KAHLER – WELCOME TO THE TEAM!

THE BUCS ARE GOING TO START THEIR RUN TO THE SUPER BOWL TOMORROW AS THEY BLOW OUT THE STINKING PANTHERS 55-10! EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE FAITH IN OUR SUPER BOWL COACH TODD ‘BIG BALLS’ BOWLES AND OUR SCRAPPY QUARTERBACK WITH THE WINNING PERSONALITY, BAKER MAYFIELD!

ALL WE NEED TO MAKE IT HAPPEN IS TO STAY POSITIVE!

    JOIN THE MOVEMENT! #TEAMPOSITIVE!

  3. Chris O Says:

Rod Munch – You are cringey and way too positive. This team is trash

  4. FortMyersDave Says:

Chris O: so are the Panthers, this is a game which smells upset but then again the Panthers and their blog sites were saying that against the Titans last week and had the ball stuffed down their throat, the same Titan team that scored 6 on the Bucs. SIX! The Bucs are a bad team but the Panthers are worse, the equalizer is that Todd Bowels is a worse head coach than whomever is the interim HC in Charlotte, in fact Bowels is probably in the running with Coach Allen in New Orleans for most stubborn, inept HC of 2023!

I think the game is a coin flip, Bucs will probably win as it will kill their chance at landing a top 5 draft pick. Bucs 16 Panthers 13. If the Bucs had launched Bowels and had Foote or someone else as interim, the line would be Bucs 7 and the final Bucs 27 Panthers 10 but Bowels will make sure the Bucs keep it close with is coach not to lose mentality.

  5. Richard Says:

The Bucs don’t deserve anything. No team from the NFC south deserves a playoff spot. It’s embarrassing and laughable to who gets that spot.

  6. Rusty Shackleford Says:

Baker Mayfield isn’t the problem – the horrible line and drops by the receivers is what is hurting. Trey Palmer, Cody Mauch, etc… have hurt this team more than Mayfield ever could.

  7. Rusty Shackleford Says:

Do an image search for Kaylan Kahler and explain to me what the deal is with her teeth.

  8. Rusty Shackleford Says:

@Richard: If the winner of the NFC South finishes with a losing record again, then it wouldn’t surprise me if the NFL changed playoff rules that automatically gave each division winner a home playoff game.

  9. FortMyersDave Says:

Rusty that would probably be true but remember that the Bucs had to play a wild card game at 7-9 DC in the Super Bowl run. A big market team in the NFC East…… The suits would gladly rip a home playoff game from Tampa, New Orleans or the ATL but DC, Jerry Jones, Philly or New York???? NO WAY! They have a long game and want to keep their fat cat big franchise teams happy.

I’d sure like to hope, but I feel like I’m just wishing.

  11. HC Grover Says:

This is all Trask fault. Alls he has done is warm the bench and get paid a fortune.

  12. Lombardi Lenny Says:

Who cares about the playoffs when you are 4-7 right now. We are supposed to okay being a dumpster fire team all season just because we might get to play an extra game and get lose again?

  13. HC Grover Says:

The Falcons will win this stinkin division.

  14. MadMax Says:

LOL, lose out, thats the faith!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Hail2dabucs Says:

Until toilet todd is fired the only thing I care about winning is my fantasy league . Evans and white will help with that . When we get a coach that can beat man beaters & can see when and when not to call zone , and have the players smart enough to switch between those 2 covers , let me know

  16. Truth5 Says:

Facepalm! Relax this is the Glazers plan. Bowles will embarrass himself today and make the firing easier for them

  17. Truth5 Says:

    Go stinking panthers!

  18. FortMyersDave Says:

HC Grover: ATL 8-9 , Tampa 7-10 (2 wins vs Carolina and 1 NO, loss ATL), New Orleans 6-11, Coach Allen fired so fast that Buc fans wonder why Bowels was not launched so fast. Carolina 1-16, Next up bottom feeder for 5 to 10 years with Dave Tepper!

  19. Hodad Says:

The playoff dream comes to an end next week when we get swept by Atlanta. Maybe Carolina puts us out of our misery a week earlier.

  20. BucU Says:

Articles like this after 2 yrs of watching Todd Bowles teams look like garbage week after week after month regressing terribly as the season progresses only makes us mock the current Bucs more. This team has no soul. No direction. No fight.
They’re an embarrassment to us all.

GIVE HARBAUGH TOTAL CONTROL=WIN YEAR 1

  22. Usedtocould Says:

It does feel much more comfortable wondering if we will actually beat the worst team in the league vs worrying about about who we will play in the playoffs 😐

  23. Cobraboy Says:

Game day humor for casuals: “There is hope!!1!11!!1!!!”

  24. Pewter power Says:

This is beyond stupid. Only in this division could a team lose 6 of 7 and still be one game out of first place so I guess we should be thankful for being in a trash division. Nope it doesn’t work that way.

Off you have to watch the standings every week to see who lost in the nfc then your team sucks. Tampa bay sucks so winning this division with a losing record is nothing but another banner, embarrassing playoff loss and low draft pick

  25. Cobraboy Says:

The worst long-term result for this team is to win out.

Unless casuals want years of mediocre drafts and mediocre results.

Lose out, and we will finally resolve the debt accrued from selling the franchise soul for the Brady years.

  26. HC Grover Says:

Falcons will win 9 or 10 games. Bucs 6 or 7. Or maybe 6 wins and a tie.

  27. realistic-optimistic Says:

Have faith in what?? I always root for wins, but Bowles has shown that he’s not up to the task. Best outcome for the health of this team is ejecting Bowles. But I don’t even have faith that we can achieve that outcome.

  28. infomeplease Says:

Rod Munch is the ” king of sarcasm”!!!!!!!! It’s been too long of a season already! Don’t need another Dallas like playoff game again. What we need is a new head coach with a true vision!!

  29. Crazyhorse54 Says:

To this Joe: “If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we’d all have a Merry Christmas”. Reality indicates there is a HC who refuses to change and does what he’s always done in spite of the fact he has a horribly awful record as a HC. And the there is the rookie OC who cannot do what has to be clearly obvious does not work, but is mandated by the HC. No, there is not playoffs in the near future.

  30. Alanbucsfan Says:

No, I’d rather the Bucs work on improving the overall team for next season and if that means running the ball instead of throwing to double covered Evans and Godwin, so be it. Continue giving the young OLinemen running play reps – they’re not running that much as it is – Evans and Godwin will get more completions when the other receivers become more dangerous … i.e. stop dropping passes.

  31. Richard Dickson Says:

I kind of don’t want them to make the playoffs because I don’t want anything that could possibly justify bringing back Bowles.

  32. Buc4evr Says:

Have faith in what? Garbage Head Coach, garbage Offensive Coordinator, garbage team. They don’t deserve to win anything. If they do get to the playoffs it will be one and done. You can believe that Carolina will bring everything they have today against the hapless Bucs.

  33. Ed Says:

I’d like to know what team whoever wrote the title of this thread has been watching.

In the NFL you are what you are and we see the Bucs for that:

Slow to start every week, never ready on offense or defense first couple of positions.

Can’t tackle or cover anyone no matter who the backs are or who is throwing the ball.

Any time there is a positive play or 3rd down conversion in key points of game there is false start or holding call negating the play.

Every game WR’s make key drops on TD or 3rd down conversion.

Every game Todd Bowles doesn’t know how to call a timeout when he could stop the clock to attempt to get the ball back

Mismanaged, unmotivated coaches and players are what they are, 1-6 last 7 games. Doesn’t matter who they play, they havn’t put 4 good quarters together in a single gaem and even when they win turnover margin, they loose anyway.

After NO spent 150m over the next 4 years on a QB and the expectations went thru the roof. Bucs spent 4m and that should be going up a little soon based on % of snaps played. Max is 8m. Bowles should be safe. Could be as sure of a prediction as the Bucs will win 55-10 today but I don’t see Bowles getting axed.

Hmmm. Is Baker more pissed off lately because he is anxious about getting pulled before the incentives start kicking in? If the first perk starts @ 66% of snaps it kicks in about 12 minutes into this game. Hopefully not after two 3 and outs and one pick.
